The Retreat is an elegant modern, carbon neutral mountain house located just 30 miles from Yosemite's El Portal/Arch rock entrance, 50 miles from the Mariposa Grove entrance and 7 miles from historic downtown Mariposa. Situated on a scenic, secluded, tree lined 6 acres, nestled between majestic mountains and valley views!!! One story modern country ranch house which serves as an amazing basecamp for a romantic getaway, family trip, or a rendezvous with friends.

The space

The property has a large living and dining area with open kitchen perfect for entertaining family and friends. The main living area contains a lovely wood burning stove and connects via two glass doors to a large outdoor deck with BBQ allowing you to socialize or practice Yoga and meditation with a spectacular view! A path extends off the side of the deck to where a seven-person hot tub resides. Carbon neutral cabin with fast Wi-Fi and board games for the perfect getaway to enjoy with family and friends!

Take out the rubbish
Turn off the lights and lock the doors
Load and start the dishwasher
Start a load of towels in the washing machine. Leave the remainder of the used towels on the kitchen floor.
Take out the trash to the brown metal bear shed at the top of the driveway, on your left as you are leaving the property.
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.
No extra guests, the property cannot exceed the maximum occupancy due to zoning laws, otherwise you will forfeit your reservation and/or deposit
NO firearms and NO off-roading (motorbikes, ATVs, or etc) on the property. It is disruptive to neighbors and causes destruction to the landscape.

The house and property was amazing. We especially enjoyed the jacuzzi after a visit to Yosemite. As we were drinking our morning coffee, we saw a deer and its foe at the base of the property. Its very peaceful, quiet and private.

Great house for a trip to Yosemite

Nice house in a very quiet rural neighborhood. We enjoyed grilling on the deck and soaking in the hot tub under the starlight. The house is about 10-15 minutes to the highway on gravel and paved windy roads and about 1 hour to the Yosemite south entrance.

Lovely, Quiet Place

This is a wonderful property set back in a quiet corner. It offers all the amenities we needed to make a comfortable stay. The view from the back deck and hot tub are beautiful. We will definitely keep this property bookmarked for future visits.

The retreat was very nice spacious and very well equipped for our stay. It took us about 1 1/4 to get to Yosemite valley and 1hour to Mariposa grove. The house was a little more remotely located than we expected. However we did enjoy the town of Mariposa 15 min away. Nice dining options and a good grocery.

Caveat: I do not give five stars unless warranted. Not everyone gets a trophy. Excellent home for your Yosemite adventures. Relatively close to the park, and only about five miles to Mariposa. The house was tidy, clean, and well appointed. The back deck is a great place to relax with a drink after a day at Yosemite. We found the rental a private place to enjoy the golden California sunsets. We also saw a few turkeys, deer, and a coyote. Our dog loved being on watch from the deck.

The house is in a nice and remote area. It is great to have morning coffee on the back deck and listen to all the peacefulness of nature. Same with looking at the stars at night of the back deck. The beds are quite comfortable. The kitchen and bathrooms are in very good condition. My group very much enjoyed their stay at Peter's place! Yosemite is an easy drive that can take from 45 minutes to an hour during our stay (late May)!

Great property in fabulous location

Very spacious, comfortable property in secluded location. Perfect place to relax, with large deck, hot tub, bbq, great for star gazing. Also good for Yosemite (about an hour’s drive). Would definitely come back if we are in the area again.

The kitchen facilities were not fully functioning- the oven and stove in particular - and there were not many consumables (no garbage bags, no laundry detergent, etc). There also was an infestation of ants in the kitchen that got into all of our dry food. The rest of the property was fine, but the kitchen was basically unusable for our group, unfortunately. We did love the hot tub and the views from the backyard!
