Casa de Gienia - Beautiful Bungalow by the pool in Los Altos, Torrevieja

Hello and thank you for choosing to read about our holiday home.

Set amongst the wonderful views of Los Altos ('The Heights' in English), Our home has plenty to offer - whether you're stopping over for a short winter break or a two week summer holiday for you and the kids, 'Casa de Gienia' can fulfill your needs!

We take it upon ourselves to update and refurbish parts of the property yearly so that each year our guests experience something new and fresh.

As can be seen from the pictures, one of the favourite attributes to our abode is the fact that we are almost literally on top of the pool (the access gate is in front and to the left our front door.)
This makes for easy supervision of the kids, and even for great picturesque views (Check out the roof pictures).

In our opinion, our home is perfectly suited for Small Families and Couples.

The surrounding area has plenty going on and yet our actual Urbanisation is very tranquil - NEVER any loud noises from pubs or bars, and yet there are plenty only a 5, 10 or 20 min walk away. If you'd like something a little more in the clubbing region Torrevieja town is only a couple of kilometres away, easily accessable by the letter 'D' bus (Which stops just round the corner) or by taxi for a few euros.

Waterparks, go karting, 5 aside football pitches and indeed actual recreational parks with children's play areas are all close by.

Our nearest supermarket is Consum, at around a brisk 6 minute walk away offers up plenty if you fancy those relaxing home-cooked meal nights at home, and is very reasonably priced.

If one day you find that you can't sleep early morning, get yourself upstairs and watch the sunrise over the mediterranean (I know I have a couple of times, and it's very peaceful.)

There's just so much going on and I'm unable to list everything on here without going overboard so I'll be bullet pointing the rest. If you'd like to know anything else in the mean time, please don't hesitate to ask.

- Even more within a 20 minute walk
- Closest beach is only 1 mile away, and many others a little further either side
- Air conditioning

Perfect base to explore the area

The property was within an urbanisation but inward facing away from the road and with a view of the communal pool, which was used daily I might add. Thomas’ directions on where to park for easy access were spot on and very helpful indeed. The facilities available (air conditioning, UK TV channels, washing machine, roof terrace etc) were great, and although we did eat out most days, we also cooked a few meals at the villa too. We found it to be a perfect base to explore around the area and would definitely consider revisiting again.

Misleading listing, property not up to standard

The property was in a great location- a stone’s throw from the pool in a safe quiet area. The listing describes the property as recently refurbished….. this is misleading. Numerous fixtures and fittings were worn out or broken. To give examples the fridge freezer had rust showing, the shower was broken, the bath and toilet were both damaged, the provided sun beds x 2 and sun umbrella were all broken. Worst of all the sofa which was unpleasant. It was covered by a throw in a unsuccessful effort to disguise that the plastic coating that was disintegrating and shedding. There was a continuous floor dusting of black flakes and debris, disgusting. Communication with the owner before our trip was great, and he helped us with a couple of initial queries when we arrived concerning the TV and the alarm. However we quickly started to spot the issue with the condition of things. We reached out early to report some damage and the host thanked us for letting him know but made no offer to fix things. Later in the holiday we summarised the catalogue of issues looking for solutions and was told that these would all be fixed after the summer period (when we had left). There was no offer to provide replacement items (so no sunbeds nor sun umbrella for us). There was no apology that his recently refurbished property was clearly not up to the advertised standard and no offer for compensation. Vrbo customer service despite many communication attempts failed to resolve the issue also.

Situation idéale, proche d’une grande surface et de petits bars. Endroit très calme. Nous étions face à la piscine peu fréquentée. La maison est agréable avec toutes les commodités. La petite terrasse en façade très agréable pour le repas de midi et la grande terrasse sur le toit est superbe. Nous avons même eu la chance de cueillir qq 🍋 dans le jardinet. Nous espérons pouvoir y retourner.

Grand lit et coussins nécessaire de revoir la propreté

A part le matelas de la grande chambre qui était pas très propre et sans protection et les coussins qui et non plus pas très propre nécessités aussi une deuxième protection et la baignoire un tapis anti clisse pour la sécurité c’est nécessaire autrement nous aimons bien la maison qui est tranquille et agréable en face de la piscine si vous changez tout se qui vas pas nous louerons pour l’année prochaine salutation

Sun Trap

Right from the first contact with Thomas through to final instructions on finding the property the process was easy. Once your there you have everything you need, should you wish to cook all the utensils you need are there. Cooker is great and a big fridge for the beers and wine. Fantastic sun trap roof terrace and right next to a really lovely clean pool. Consum supermarket is a five minute walk away or bars and restaurants just as close. All in all, just the job for a relax in the sun.

Week in the villa

Overall the place was very easy to find (we flew into Alicante airport), within walking distance of a large supermarket. The large terrace was great to sit out on an evening which also included a BBQ. The pool is nice and during our week was never crowded. The area was very quite especially on an evening. The owner was in contact before our stay with additional information. I would recommend this villa :)

Very good appartment

The appartment was very nice,had everything a family could ask for-only thing we missed was one more sunbed and maby a parasol. Close to shops and bus stop right outside the door. Nice place;) We would be happy to stay again;)

Clean, cozy and comfortable

This bungalow was perfekt for us on our holiday! A bit small, but we managed. It was a big and fin pool right outside the front door. The nearest supermarked are just a short walk away, and about 20 minutes walk from other shops and restaurants. The bungalow was tidy and clean when we arrived, and Tom the landlord was super helpful with everything ☺️

Es war eine schöne Zeit!

In Kürze das Wichtigste! - Es war sauber! - Die Kommunikation hat super funktioniert! - Der Pool ist sauber und wird ständig gereinigt und überprüft! - Der Pool befindet sich direkt vor der Haustür! Kinder ab acht dürfen da auch alleine schwimmen. Sie sollten es können! - Einkaufsmöglichkeiten in direkter Nähe / verschiedene Strände sind recht gut mit dem Auto zu erreichen. Ein Auto sollte man aber unbedingt vor Ort haben. - Ich würde die Küchenausstattung einmal durchsortieren und irgendwann neue Matrazen für das große Bett anschaffen.

A month in the Spanish Sunshine

I booked a months stay at the bungelow,to get away from the British weather,we were not disappointed,reasonably easy to find,very quiet,lovely Spot overlooking the pool ,weather never cold always around 18-20c.a bit different to theUk with -temperatures and snow drifts It was very comfortable especially the bed ,if we didn't have our dog might have struggled to get out of the bed Lots of shops and bars within 10 minutes and lets not forget the the lovely shellfish and vino All in all a very enjoyable stay

Amazing place to stay

We have recently returned from 2 weeks staying in this property, and what a wonderful little property it is. It was very clean on our arrival. The home had everything you would need to make your holiday really pleasurable. It was lovely sitting outside the front door in the mornings for breakfast overlooking the lovely pool. The upstairs solarium is a real suntrap for all sun worshippers. A large parasol was provided for guests who require some shade. It was so hot during our holiday that this got a lot of use. It was lovely sitting here at 7.30am in the morning and watching the sun rise. We also watched an electrical storm one evening from here which was amazing to see. The shower was great as you could choose either waterfall shower or a normal. The shower was over the bath so you also had the option of using the bath. This was great for getting rid of all suntan lotion used during the day. The steps up to the roof terrace were quite steep and care had to be taken when carrying items up and down. A very small kitchen, but we had no problems with this as it is well equipped with everything that would be needed whilst on holiday. A lovely pool right opposite the property was fab. We were able to sunbathe on the roof terrace and when the pool area had gone quiet, we could look down to see an ideal time for us to pop over. We managed this several times and were able to have the pool area to ourselves. It does however get quite busy at certain times of the day, usually mid-late morning and late afternoon and into early evening. If you don't mind walking, then a car is not required as everything is within walking distance if you are happy to walk for half hour. We found a couple of lovely bars within 5 minutes. 20 minutes uphill were some great English bars and 25 minutes down the hill were many more bars with the beach slightly further than this. When we had any questions we wanted answering we emailed the owner and he responded almost immediately and usually within the hour. The local bus into Torrevieja is well worth using with the bus stop almost outside the property and costing 1 Euro 35 per adult each way. We used the bus in and got a taxi home which was not expensive. Zenia Boulevard is well worth a visit .. very impressive! We had an amazing holiday and are so glad that we chose this property as it was ideal for what we wanted. A relaxing 2 weeks in the sun in a very tranquil setting. Thank you very much!!

Viel Renovierungsbedarf

Meine Frau und ich waren von Mitte bis Ende Mai in dieser Wohnung. Man wohnt in einer der üblichen Urbanisations in Südspanien, die in der Nebensaison zu 80% leerstehen. Die Bewohner sind in erster Linie Rentner aus England, Spanien , Nordeuropa und Deutschland. Deshalb ist es schon sehr ruhig. Los Altos gehört aber zu den eher angenehmen Urbanisations. Der vom Vermieter genannte nächste Strand weißt allerdings nur eine Breite von etwa 25 Metern aus, der erste vernünftige Strand befindet sich in Torrevieva und ist mit dem Auto in 10 Minuten erreichbar. Der kleine Bungalow ist an sich sehr nett. Es gab allerdings erhebliche Probleme. Diese scheinen auch Herrn Ash, dem Vermieter, bekannt zu sein. Wir fanden jedenfalls eine To Do Liste mit 25 zu erledigenden Punkten, von denen nur einer abgehakt war, nämlich der Kauf eines neuen Grills. Tatsächlich steht auf der Dachterrasse ein unbenutzter Webergrill. Hervorzuheben ist auch der gegenüberliegenden Salzwasserpool mit ca. 17 Metern Länge. Die lange To Do Liste hat aber durchaus ihre Berechtigung. Alle Punkte abzuarbeiten würde den Rahmen sprengen. Deshalb nur die gravierensten Mängel: Bei der Ankunft standen wir vor einem verschlossenem Bungalow . Trotz klarer Information an Herrn Ash über Ankunftszeit im Vorfeld war dieser erst nach mehreren Anrufen in England erreichbar und konnte uns erklären, wie wir in den Bungalow kommen. Leute ohne ziemlich gute Englischkenntnisse hätten den Zugang nie gefunden. Bei Problemen sollten wir uns bei ihm melden. Der Mann wohnt aber mehr als 3000 km entfernt. Die Dachterrasse besteht aus 2 Bänken, einem Tisch, einem kaputten Sonnenschirm ohne Ständer. Alles ist reif für den Müll. Der Boden müsste dringend gereinigt werden. Nutzwert: null Die Küche ist die nächste Katastrophe. Wir fanden eingetrockneten Nescafee und Zucker, verfettete Kochtöpfe ohne Deckel, vergilbte Teebeutel , Chaos in den Schränken. Es gab nicht einmal einen einfachen Kaffeefilter, von einer Kaffeemaschine oder einer Handespressomaschine ganz zu schweigen. Es gibt ein Fahrrad, dies ist abgeschlossen, ein Schlüssel existiert nicht. Dvd und CD Spieler sind defekt. Die Liste ließe sich fortsetzen. Wir kommen gerne in diese Gegend zurück, aber nicht in die Casa di Gienia. Lothar und Martina Schreiner

Wohlfühloase

Wir haben uns von der ersten Minute an im Haus,im Areal und in der Urbanisation total wohlgefühlt.Die Kommunikation mit dem Vermieter lief reibungslos :-).Wir werden das Frühstücken auf der kleinen Terrasse und die Sonnenuntergänge on Top sehr vermissen. Sehr empfehlenswert und gerne wieder.

Great place, clean, tidy, good location...

Short drive from the airport, great to have basics on our arrival - tea, coffee. Local shops good, some nearby restaurants really lovely, excellent beaches nearby, too. Villa itself well featured, perfect sun-terrace - a real sun-trap - loved it! And the pool opposite could have been ours but for the occasional other residents. All very clean, tidy, well maintained. Definitely going to come back again, still lots of the area to discover.

Villa very clean has everything you need pool a bonus right out side the door bus stop and the end of the path which was very useful villa park 3 complex just at top of road with bars and restaurants reasonably priced also consum supermarket just round the corner beach about 30 min walk away but the bus takes you down there,Tom the owner very helpful sends email straight back to you with anything you need to know also provided us with a gentleman called Peter to pick us up and take us back to airport who was also very helpful would definitely book again and would recommend his villa thanks Tom for a lovely holiday .

Comfortable and evrything you require for an enjoyable break

We enjoyed our stay as the location suited our requirements and we would not hesitate to recommend the accommodation,The property is situated in a quiet location, the pool and roof terrace are a bonus, however there are not many amenities or choice of restaurants in the immediate area and although there is a reliable bus service a car would be a great advantage to visit the attractions in the local area (as Taxis are very hit or miss)

Beautiful property

I had a brilliant time staying at Tom's place. He was a great host very attentive while not being imposing which really made our stay even better. He gave some great restaurant recommendations!! The property itself is gorgeous, all modern amenities that you could think of (even sky!) so the place felt home from home. The kitchen had cooker,stove,washing machine and big fridge -freezer so if you wanted to stay in and cook you could. Alternatively there were plenty of places around to eat out at too. The bedroom had comfy bed and big wardrobe - couldn't fault it. And the bathroom had lovely powerful shower and was clean and well kept. The lounge has a sofa and armchairs with good size TV, although we spent most of our time out enjoying the sun, it was perfect for us. Upstairs solarium was huge - size of the house with a big parasol for shade so I don't understand previous comments.. Pool right outside property so can keep eye on little ones. 20 min walk from beach although we drove and 5 min walk to nearest supermarket and restaurants. Overall have recommended this property to everyone as think it's great value property in a great location and for a great price. Couldn't fault it.

Great Home Away From Home

Very Lovely home in a very peaceful area, with a great view from the roof. Very close to the beach and large shopping centers. Great master bedroom and double bedroom with confortable beds. Had no issue with hot water, heating or air conditioning for a group of 5. Also a very nice and extremely clean pool even though we did not get to use it due to the time of the year and temperature. Overall a very nice getaway home.
