This was our first visit to the Dordogne. The house was beautiful and very well equipped. The walk into the ancient city is just 20 minutes long and many historic sites are within a short drive. The location and the fact that the house is detached gives a nice, secluded feel while still being in easy reach of the restaurants and shops of the beautiful old town. The gite was spotless inside, with all the necessary bits and pieces, and the outside areas - particularly the herb and vegetable gardens - were really beautiful.
Virginie was a delightful host and I totally recommend her gite.

Our GPS device had problems locating Combe de Rieux. But we never felt lost. Virginie and Sébastien were quick in triangulating our location and got us to our destination in a jiffy. Once we got there, we were well rewarded for our efforts. The place was absolutely grand. A real manor house, outfitted with the latest modern amenities and surrounded by tastefully landscaped grounds. It was a perfect retreat that warranted more than the paltry 2 nights that we had booked. While Sarlat-la-Canéda has its own draw, we looked forward to “chilling” at Combe de Rieux at the end of of our sightseeing.
In this case, our essential needs were well satisfied thanks to a nearby LeClerc. Whereas our breakfast brioche was nicely enhanced by a sampling of honey from Sébastien’s bee hives.
There were too many classy touches to this stay to include in this review. Our only recommendation is that you allocate extra time to fully enjoy this property and the hospitality that Virginie and Sébastien seem to extend routinely to their guests.

Einfach prima.
Très bien organisée. Charme et tranquillité absolue ´
