Property Summary This charming cottage was built in 1871 in the historic village of Stedham. A wonderful rural location with great walks from the door, also within walking distance is the village pub. There are three bedrooms, two double, one single sleeping five guests in total.
Main Description Welcome to Lavender Row Holiday Cottage in Stedham, near Midhurst. The cottage is situated within the South Downs National Park in West Sussex, offering self-catering accommodation for up to 5 guests. Stedham is a very picturesque country village, with a pub, village green and great walking from the door. Five minutes drive away is the charming town of Midhurst, which has a great selection of local shops. This cottage is close to several attractions including Goodwood, Petworth, Cowdray polo and golf course.
The cottage has a bright and spacious feel. Downstairs is the kitchen with an open-plan dining area, followed by a separate living room with a log fire.

Great base for exploring the area, super walks on Stedham common, very friendly locals. Thank you for leaving some kindling so we could start the fire on the first night. This is a wonderful house in a wonderful location. The House exceeded all our expectations - the kitchen was great, well equipped and had everything we needed to cook and enjoy the evenings. The garden is huge, beautifully kept and great for having a look at the stars at night. The bedrooms were incredibly comfortable (matresses were excellent) and immediately made us feel at home. We also loved the finishing touches, artwork and little notes around the house plus the wine on welcome! The house was also spotless and extremely clean. Chris and Freya were great and we would not hesitate to book again or recommend this place to our friends and family! Thank you both for a really lovely stay.

Cold & damp - hosts keep resetting heating
Stayed here in October, opened the door to a smell of cold & damp that never really went away. Heating kept resetting to cold & was out of our control. Daughter had to spray perfume to mask the smell in her room. Damp damage visible throughout. Hosts refused to stop the heating resetting so every morning & every time we came back after being out, it was cold & damp & smelly again. Nice enough cottage otherwise I suppose.

A really lovely cottage full of great, interesting upcycled decorations and furniture.. lots of space downstairs and upstairs with a good sized, comfortable sitting room with a woodburner (sadly too hot outside to light it but would be lovely and cozy in the winter). The garden was fantastic, we sat out there in the evening and at the back in the shade during the day and it is completely dog proof so our dogs loved relaxing and sniffing around off lead.
Perfect location is a picture perfect village, so peaceful but only 5 mins drive into Midhurst, a lovely small market town with lots of shops (will need to come back to explore those!).
We drove to West wittering beach in 40 minutes on a lovely scenic route, great for the dogs all year round as the sand dune/spit end of the beach is open to dogs all year and great, especially at low tide when the beach is huge.. Would also highly recommend Woolbeding common, for the stunningviews and walks. Eat at the cricketers arms south of pulborough which has a great garden surrounded by woods... Felt like we had been away for much longer than the weekend we had.. we will be back :-)
