Pine Shore Beach House on Chesapeake Bay w/ 170ft pier
While walking down our 170 foot pier extending way out into the Chesapeake Bay you cross state lines! That's right the huge 16x20 foot deck at the end of the pier is technically in Maryland. Bring your fishing gear!
Private beach, expansive views of the Chesapeake as it intersects the Potomac River. Behind the home is the remaining 4.5 heavily wooded acres. Remodeled home that has been finished out with granite countertops, tile all throughout the first floor. 4 bed/2 full bath. Large great room with huge dining room table that seats 10 people. This home is our true escape. You'll see as you drive to the secluded neighborhood that there are only a dozen homes on this street. It's nature at its finest.
This home originally was owned by a DC-area doctor and his wife as their personal vacation home. We had been looking for a couple years for the perfect beach home on the Bay that felt more like a home and not a smelly cabin. Once we saw this pop up on Zillow we knew we had to have it! We've outfitted it to fit our needs of bringing friends and family with us and think you will enjoy what we've done as well. Also bought some new furniture, mattresses, all new linens, etc...
Rooms come with clean sheets already tucked in for you, and a towel and face cloth for each guest to use. We even have toothbrush holders by the sink. The bathtub and shower have shampoo, conditioner and body wash so you don't need to bring your own. Please bring your own beach towels. We do have some beach toys for the kids, a couple beach chairs and an umbrella. If the weather is nice, we have a few kayaks you can use as well.
We have lots of games in the home if weather is bad - card games, connect 4, and children playsets and toys, various books and recently added a foosball table.
We have internet wifi in the home so you can work from here too. There are 3 HDTVs with Roku boxes. A DVD player in the living room with variety of DVDs to choose from. 2 of the Rokus have DirecTV Stream for regular channels.
Outside we have a propane gas grill and large picnic table on the lower balcony. There is a hot water outdoor shower for you to shower off after being on the beach all day.
Sorry, we can not allow animals at this home, no matter how small or well trained.
Most of the time you can arrive at the house before the 4pm posted time, unless it's busy, like summertime. If someone is checking out on your check-in day, we'll let you know if you need to wait til 4pm. Also, the same on checkout. There are no extra fees for the early checkin and late checkout.. we're not a hotel ;-)
We live in Richmond, but are available via phone or text.
Very quiet neighborhood. Some neighbors live here fulltime some only on weekends. Please stay within our property and beach only. Do NOT climb on the riprap (the rocks by the shore).
Sorry, we can not allow animals at this home, no matter how small or well trained because our kids have crazy allergies.

Absolutely love the property. At this price, its an amazing value. The beach is very clean. Unfortunately ton of jelly fish but thats not their fault. House is spacious. We caught a ton of crabs and fish. Will def come back
We had an amazing time here, the location is so scenic, the house well amenitied and super convenient to Richmond. Will definitely stay again and look at other properties from this owner!
Wonderful property, well stocked and very comfortable. had a great time. The view was picture perfect. Thank you for your information and would recommend your properties.
Great, relaxing weekend on the Chesapeake. Super comfy house with amazing water views. We had perfect low key weekend- coffee on the deck, kayaking, and wine on the pier.
This is a great place to unwind. Beatifull home that has everything you would need. Very clean private beach. My kids loved the dock. Would visit again.
Very peaceful and relaxing area. No neighbors around and hardly any boats (noise) while we were there. Well stocked kitchen! Besides the jellyfish (completely unavoidable!), we had a wonderful family vacation!
Such a perfect memory-making home on the water! It’s always an adventure with two little kids but we found that this home had everything we needed, as well as amenities conveniently nearby for food or anything we forgot to bring with us. Water was calm enough most days for our 6 year old to paddle around, the dock is a lovely spot for a picnic, and all around we had a wonderful stay. Thank you!
Beautiful home right on the bay. Our family enjoyed a long weekend at this home and wished we could have stayed longer. The open floor plan downstairs with expansive windows provided a wonderful view of the water. Lots of room to gather, cook and eat meals as a family. Enjoyed sitting on the deck with coffee and the kids enjoyed the beach and being able to play lacrosse in the back yard. The home had everything we needed plus lots of extras and provided much needed relaxation.
We booked this house directly on the Chesapeake to bring the family together for the weekend. The house and property were awesome. It was super clean and had everything we needed for the weekend. The backyard backed up directly to the Chesapeake and had an awesome dock where we did some fishing and crabbing. It was super private and serene. Even got me thinking about how nice it would be to have a place on the water like it. Marshall was an awesome host and replied to my questions promptly. Would definitely rent from them again
We wanted a family vacation and looked for a place on Chesapeake Bay. My son and daughter found this place and we reserved it. The house is beautiful. Has everything one would want. The location is great although it’s a bit of a drive to anywhere. Our plan was to spend most of the time at the house and in the bay. However that didn’t happen. First the weather didn’t cooperate as it rained most of the week. In addition there was an invasion of jellyfish. They were terrible! My grandchildren were only able to get in the water once. It was a downer but we made the best of it and there was nothing the Host could have done as he doesn’t control the weather or jellyfish.
We really enjoyed our stay here. The location is very quiet and remote and it felt like we were the only ones for miles. The pier is very nice and the fishing and crabbing from it was excellent. We were able to set up some hammocks underneath it and it was very relaxing to sit and enjoy the breeze.
Unfortunately, the jellyfish were a problem for just about everyday we were there. Some days you could walk into the water up to your waist, but others it seemed like more jellyfish than water. This was kind of a bummer as the kids really wanted to swim, but it was out of anyones control.
We were able to use the kayaks and that was fun for everyone. We even got to see a pod of dolphins which were swimming through the bay up close, as we just happened to be out on the kayaks when they went by. That was very neat.
The house itself was very big and easily accommodated our party of 8. It took some getting used to as far as which light switches turned on which lights, and more labels on them could help. Otherwise the house was great.
There is one grocery store 20 minutes away and one decent restaurant 20 minutes away. That’s it. Literally nothing else. If you are ok with that info thus far, read on. The highlight of the property is by far ‘the pier’. We spent most of our time on it. It catches a breeze, you can fish, you can watch sunrise AND sunset. There is no outdoor comfy furniture unless you find Walmart picnic tables the epicenter of luxurious comfort. Such a GORGEOUS VIEW but only a rotting bench or picnic table to enjoy. I highly recommended bringing a nylon hammock for under the pier. HEAVEN. Kitchen is big and well stocked. It’s location of materials a little wonky. Ex: coffee maker is 25 feet from coffee mugs even though maker has a huge empty cabinet. Save some time just to learn the instincts of someone who has never cooked and their kitchen set up. Beds are very comfortable….pillows? Bring your own. Lots of bald eagles and lots of wildlife so bring binoculars…they had none!! And with this view? Criminal. Lol. Plenty of dvds and ease of movie streaming. Water pressure in upstairs bath perfect for kids afraid of normal pressure. Surprisingly sound proof house. Quiet. Kayaks didn’t have back support but as we were packing to leave my husband found under plant growth tucked way under deck so that REALLY sucked bc that’s why we chose this place. This is most definitely NOT a house for watching tv comfortably. Tv sits very high hard couches very low. Bring books. You’ll relax in this environment
The house is beautiful and well stocked, and the private beach and wide open lawn is perfect with kids. This was our second trip out and I'm sure we'll come again.
Our group of two families with four kids had such a wonderful fall weekend here! We all thought the open living space was nicer than the pictures conveyed -- big and airy, with tons of counter space in the kitchen for group cooking, huge windows with a beautiful view of the water, and separate seating areas so the kids could have a little space way from the adults. The large open yard area between the house and the beach was a really welcome surprise -- the kids had tons of room to run around and play soccer and other games. The pine trees smell sweet! The weather kept us from spending much time on the beach, but the kids did enjoy the sand toys and we all loved the dock, where we saw a stunning moonrise. It was a beautiful area and I hope we go back someday.
We had an amazing weekend! Even with a very wet and windy start to our time there, it was a great house to relax and spend time together. The view of the stormy waters was fantastic and once it cleared out the girls were able to get out and even spent some time in the water (it's cold in October!). Kitchen is very well stocked for cooking. Highly recommend!!
What a beautiful house & location! I spent a long weekend with friends and our babies relaxing, catching up, sitting on the beach, kayaking, making good food. It was the perfect spot for our little reunion. Everything was as described and Marshall was great to communicate with. I would love to visit again!
This house was BEAUTIFUL! location was perfect. It was stocked with everything you could possibly need. I would highly recommend this home to anyone looking for perfection. My granddaughters already told me they wanted to come back to THIS house again.
We got in right as a storm blew in so the first day was a little rough with the biting flies and jelly fish that chased us off the beach. But we got the kids some nets and buckets the next day and some deep woods off and the remaining days were beautiful (and gave the kids a project).
The house is well stocked and the beds are cozy. Lots of room for everyone and to move around. The dock is brand new and really beautiful. The beach is a really nice perk too. Overall, it gave us a setting for a fun and scenic trip. I’m very pleased and would definitely return.
Great pier for fishing or just hanging out to watch the birds & boats. Easy access to water for swimming/boating; nice sand on the beach. Plenty of space to lounge/play inside when the weather doesn’t cooperate for outdoor plans. Wish we could have stayed longer.
We had a wonderful stay here - my husband and I, my parents, and our 5 year old son. Especially love the big open downstairs space - perfect for a larger group, making for relaxed mornings and meal times. We were lucky enough to spot a bald eagle on her hunting perch in a nearby tree with the house binoculars! The view through the dramatic downstairs windows of the Bay is the stuff that dreams are made of. My son loved playing in the shallow surf and we had a lovely interaction with the next door neighbor as she offered to take our picture in the water (a rarity to get all family members in frame!) thank you, Marshall, for the easy communication and relaxing stay. Perfect way to kick off summer!
We stayed at the Pine Shore house over Memorial Day weekend 2022. The house and property had everything we needed for 4 adults and 5 little kids to be comfortable and have a great time. The view is awesome! The pier and beach were perfect for the kids to play and adults to hang out. The house has a lot of open space and everything you need for cooking and entertaining. The host, Marshall was great to work with and answered all of our questions quickly.
Although not a knock on the property in any way, keep in mind that this is a very rural area. If you've never been to Northumberland County and you're expecting to go out shopping and dining you might be disappointed. There are a few small restaurants and a Food Lion within 20 minutes but that's about it.
Overall, we had an excellent experience. My family and I plan to stay here again in the future.

We moved to Richmond VA in 2017 from Texas and have fallen in love with this state from the mountains to the Bay. We bought our first vacation home in Massanutten, VA in 2018 and have enjoyed it sharing it with others so much, that we have purchased more vacation homes and have begun renting them out and have turned it into a full-time business. So, some of our replies will be from our HighlightHomesVA.com address.

Why they chose this property
We were so lucky that this home became available for sale when we were ready to buy. Homes in this area do not go up for sale very often. They tend to get passed down from family members. Previous owners continually upgraded this vacation home over the almost 30 years they owned it. There are only a dozen homes on this private street. Each home sits on their own 4.5 acre lot. Talk about privacy!! The endless view of the Chesapeake from the beach is amazing.
What makes this property unique
The peace and quiet of being out here is amazing. You can see ALL the stars at night! Short drive to Reedville for some great restaurants or if you want to rent a boat. Less than 2 hours to Richmond VA. So much history out here in the Northern Neck.
