Designed with families in mind, this spacious apartment has an extra large master bedroom with in-suite bathroom and king bed, and a second bedroom set up with a pair of twin beds. Gather around the Dining Room at mealtimes before retiring to a sectional sofa. A mint-green color palette gives the living area an airy feel, and seaside artwork serves as a reminder that the beach is steps away. Elsewhere, beautiful art graces the walls.

Find some of California's best beaches on the doorstep. Walk the sands, swim, and surf. Dogs are welcome, too. The town itself is close to many restaurants and as many cute little shops, all easy walking distance from the apartment. If you plan to hang around Carpinteria, you can literally leave your car parked the entire stay. You can walk almost anywhere in "Carp" in about 20 minutes...30 minutes max. For traveling North to Santa Barbara or Solvang, or South to Ventura or Los Angeles, you will need your car. Amtrak also departs from the Carpinteria station, only a 10 minute walk away.

Our stay was amazing! Traveling with a baby can be stressful, however Elena was so thoughtful and accommodating which helped make our stay great! The location is perfect - literally steps from the beach, no issues with parking, and the apartment was very clean. Would def recommend and hope to stay here again in the future.

We so enjoyed staying in Apt 2. Upon arrival the Apartment was very clean and just waiting for us. Both the furniture and beds were very comfortable. Every morning my brother would take his coffee and one of the beach chairs and walk down to the beach which was less than a block away. It was so peaceful! The kitchen is very well stocked and has a k-cup coffee machine, ice maker and pretty much any kitchen utensil you could ever need.The bathrooms are nice and the basket of shampoo, soap, makeup remover packets and they even had tar remover pads to clean your feet!I would definitely recommend staying here!!

Carponteria Apt 2 is wonderful

The apt is wonderful. The host stocked the apt with coffee and toiletries. Location is perfect for the beach or visiting Santa Barbara. There is a great family run Italian restaurant in town (Giannfranco's Tratorria) - excellent food. The apt was perfect for our stay

Perfect beach stay

Great location near the beach and the marsh. Easy to walk to shops/restaurants. Beautiful apartment that was perfect for family of 6 (we brought a blow up mattress). Comes with beach umbrella and chairs. Very quiet and we loved that we could bring our dogs! Would definitely book again!

Perfect Beach Stay

Mike and Elena’s place was the PERFECT get away for my husband, my mom and sister and our dog. When they say steps from the sand it’s not an exaggeration. Best part? Walk straight and the dog beach is to the right while the normal beach is to the left. Apartment was clean and inviting. Only thing we wish there was were blankets to curl up with and lay down on the floor for the pup and some extra hooks for beach towels and gear. Thanks for the great stay!

As described!

The place was as described. Unfortunately we got some unusual cold and wet weather and given that this is really a beach stay, we didn't get to take advantage of everything. If you are a light sleeper, you may want to opt for an upstairs unit - floors are very thin and you can hear everything. Super easy check in and check out and really nice and clean.

I m very critical of the units that I rent upon arrival. This unit won me over a dozen steps in. I will be returning over the long haul to have lodging near Montecito wear my business takes me. The unit is excellent and puts together very smart.

Perfect!

Perfect location. Perfect accommodations. Perfect place if you have pets. Location is just a block away from the beach, which is the area of the beach that is open to pets, and across from the Salt Marsh. While it is an apartment it is quiet and extremely pet friendly. Our apartment was large, comfortable and beautifully decorated. Our apartment was also very, very clean and generously supplied with many amenities. We met our host Elena, who was kind enough to assist with the repair of one of our bikes. Apartment is within walking distance to the State Park, restaurants and shops downtown. We made many wonderful memories and look forward to staying again when we make our annual trip next year. Thanks Elena, everything was perfect!

Nice apartment, great location

This is our second stay at this complex, first time in this apartment. The location and close proximity to the beach and downtown are the best! The unit was clean and well stocked with supplies, linens were in good shape and the beds were comfortable. The beach chairs, umbrella and beach towels were great to have as well. There were a couple things of issue - in the master bathroom the shower leaked quite a bit and there was no cold water from the sink. We did not contact management on this as they did not affect our stay. The downside of this complex is that it is loud. This unit is downstairs and you can definitely hear the people above you moving around. And as you need the windows open for air circulation, you can hear all the conversations going on outside. Aside from that, it’s a nice complex, clean and well maintained with a nice laundry facility as well.

The unit needs a dishwasher, and the mattress for the bed in the master bedroom needs to be replaced, as the left side sinks in horrible support. The apartment above has people walking really loudly with a dog barking. Other than that, the unit is really nic,e great location

Loved this cozy place. Everything was more than we expected. Beautifully maintained, small complex just a short walk to beach and downtown. Carpinteria has been our family's favorite vacation destination since I was a small child in the 1950's. After several years of camping at Carpinteria State Campgrounds, our parents decided to build Tropic Shores Apartments and make this our second home. A few years ago, our parents both passed, away after a full and long life, leaving Tropic Shores to the four brothers, Tom, Richard, Mike, and Jeff. Since we all feel a very special connection to Carpinteria, we decided to remodel the building from ground up, and keep it in the family for our children to enjoy.

Why they chose this property

Tropic Shores is a small building of 16 units, all located with a center courtyard of lush landscaping...some of which were planted by our father over 50 year ago. The building is very quiet and your are sure to find it easy to relax and re-energize. While we're not right on the beach, we are located so close that you can hear the waves crashing at night. 200 steps and you're on the sand. Directly across the street is the Carpinteria Salt Marsh, which is basically a bird sanctuary. You may enjoy quiet walks through the Salt Marsh watching for birds or other animals while watching the sun rise or set.

What makes this property unique

Carpinteria is one of the last remaining small beach towns founded during the mid 1900's, essentially unchanged over the last 5 or 6 decades. It's a town where you may feel safe allowing your children to walk or bicycle through town on their own. Named "The World's Safest Beach" because of the protection of the Channel Islands, the surf rarely gets very large...but still large enough to enjoy the waves. When you're ready for something more exciting, there are dozens of wineries, golf courses, movie theaters, and restaurants in nearby Santa Barbara and Ventura.
