Comfortable, clean, silent, this place had everything we needed for a very nice weekend in Carpinteria. Just a few steps from the beach, and walking distance from the charming downtown. We will be definitely booking again.
We had a sweet stay at Tropic Shores. Short walk to the beach. Had perfect weather everyday!!! Nice small beach community without the crowds. Our place had everything we needed, clean, comfortable bed, nice towels. Lots of great people in Carpinteria!!! We’ll be back.
Elena’s property is so close to the beautiful beach and the welcoming town of Carpinteria, and even better for us, the part of the beach that allows dogs starts right at her road.
She had all of the items we needed for a fun stay away including a mini fridge/freezer, dishes, a griddle for cooking, a coffee maker with provided coffee, some beach towels and chairs, and a very welcoming sleeping area. And, honestly, the bathroom might have been my favorite part. Very clean shower with soft towels and she provided toiletries for a couple days worth of our stay.
My husband and I really enjoyed our time staying here, and would love to stay again.
My only suggestion for you with this rental is that if you’re a very loud person or have someone coming with you who is, this might not be the best rental for you as it’s very close to multiple other units who may be easily disturbed by loud noises.
But if you’re pretty quiet and chill, maybe this is the place for you!

Hi Jessica, thank you so much for honest review. It is nice to hear that guest like you appreciate and love our place. Hope to see again.
The place is great and as advertised. The beach is just a short distance and the marsh is across the street. Perfectly great week plus.

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, location
Disliked: Listing accuracy
they need an air conditioner
room is adjacent to dryer and cleaner and makes room about 10-15 degrees hotter than outside ..some noise to but definately people should be aware of the issue of it being too hot
We thoroughly enjoyed our time. The place had all the amenities we needed. Communication was thorough as was the check in process. Would definitely recommend and would stay here again.
I have stayed in a lot of VRBO’s and I must say that these owners did everything super nice
It wasn’t secondhand stuff because renters are there everything was nice they provided everything you needed for your entire stay including coffee and drinks in the refrigerator so generous so nice such a pleasant little place to stay
nice easy walk to the beach loved it
Michael's place was clean and the amenities were very thoughtful. The location is super close to the beach and a salt marsh with a lot of cool birds. It's also very close to the restaurants and shops in Carpenteria. Would highly recommend.
Well maintained, ideally located studio apartment in the charming and laid-back beach town of Carpinteria. Check-in was easy, and a lot of thought had been given to how to make the property user-friendly. A cute little patio attached to the apartment was perfect for afternoon reading. The glorious beach is less than five minutes away. And within 15 minutes you can drive to dinner in Santa Barbara. Very relaxing trip.
Very tranquil and beautiful place - I hope to stay there again.
The entire process was easy. Much appreciated.

About the host
Hosted by Mike Krumm
Carpinteria has been our family's favorite vacation destination since I was a small child in the 1950's. After several years of camping at Carpinteria State Campgrounds, our parents decided to build Tropic Shores Apartments and make this our second home. A few years ago, our parents both passed, away after a full and long life, leaving Tropic Shores to the four brothers, Tom, Richard, Mike, and Jeff. Since we all feel a very special connection to Carpinteria, we decided to remodel the building from ground up, and keep it in the family for our children to enjoy.
Why they chose this property
Tropic Shores is a small building of 16 units, all located with a center courtyard of lush landscaping...some of which were planted by our father over 50 year ago. The building is very quiet and your are sure to find it easy to relax and re-energize. While we're not right on the beach, we are located so close that you can hear the waves crashing at night. 200 steps and you're on the sand. Directly across the street is the Carpinteria Salt Marsh, which is basically a bird sanctuary. You may enjoy quiet walks through the Salt Marsh watching for birds or other animals while watching the sun rise or set.
What makes this property unique
Carpinteria is one of the las remaining small beach towns found during the mid 1900's, essentially unchanged over the last 5 or 6 decades. It's a town where you may feel safe allowing your children to walk or bicycle through town on their own. Named "The World's Safest Beach" because of the protection of the Channel Islands, the surf rarely gets very large...but still large enough to enjoy the waves. When you're ready for something more exciting, there are dozens of wineries, golf courses, movie theaters, and restaurants in nearby Santa Barbara and Ventura.
