Very cozy, right on the river - prime spot for the activities of the weekend! Beds were comfortable, house was clean, giant porch made for a lovely dinner looking out at the water
Megan the host communicated daily. The place was amazingly taken care off. The girls of our staff enjoyed the river and boats provided. The deck over looking the river was a great place for our staff to unwind after a long day at the Speedway. We would surely book this property again.

House accommodated our motorcycle group
Great atmosphere away from the hustle and bustle of town life.
Saw deer and turkeys every day.
Great place to stay... Driveway was tricky for motorcycle parking, but we managed it every day.

Riverfront Home
We enjoyed our stay very much. Couple of small issues that were related to the previous renters. Loved the access to the kayaks and the hosts were awesome. One suggestion would be to have a couple additional items in the kitchen (knives, casserole dish, frying pan). Would definitely stay again.

Beautiful views, cozy home!
We had a wonderful stay! We spent an entire week here, would have been happy to stay another! The home is cozy and the kitchen was well equipped, for all of our cooking needs. We enjoyed several cook outs on the gas grill as well. We took advantage of the kayaks, and had a nice long excursion on the river. We spent mornings on the deck enjoying coffee and nights fishing on the river.
The Saddlers are very kind people. They were accomodating, and wanted to make sure our stay was an enjoyable one!

met our needs
We spent evenings on the side deck and made great memories in town. Having 6 bedrooms was nice. Having water provided was nice as the water smelled like sulfur. The decor was very dated (as pictures indicate.) Those with allergies may need meds.

Peaceful Retreat
Quiet and peaceful retreat along the river not far from Abingdon. We came to visit our son who is an actor with the Barter Theatre and wanted a place not far from town that we could come and go frequently between shows and his rehearsals so we could spend some time with him when he was available. Place is roomy, comfortable and homey. Loved watching the lazy, calm river flow and the morning fog lifting over the hills from the front porch with a cup of coffee. Relaxing.

Thanks Pam we did not get to meet you personally but could tell you where A very nice family. Thanks for the way you left out place you took good care of everything. You are welcome back any time because you treated our home like your own.
Loved our stay. Having the kayaks were a blessing. Fishing was fun and activities we done around the area. A few things we could suggest would be a broom and couple of trash bags would have nice. The trash was left in the garage so it stuck to high heaven. We couldn’t enjoy the ping pong table because of it. Otherwise we had a wonderful, relaxing stay . Thank you

Great get-away
There were 6 of us guys from Erie, PA who came down for the Bristol NASCAR Race. The house was very nice and had plenty of room, and actually could have slept one more. It was a great secluded location and met all our needs. Although we did have terrible rain and the river flooded (locals say if seldom floods as much as it did this weekend) we had plenty to do and enjoyed our time there very much. Bob, the owner, was in contact with us throughout our trip to make sure we had everything we needed. The 1st day we were there the river was beautiful and offered plenty of entertainment if we wanted to take advantage of it, including the 2 kayaks the owner supplied. We will definately stay here again.

Fantastic Voyage!
We were searching for a relaxing getaway while my wife worked around the area. This was beyond it. Caught trout on a kayak. Caught trout in my waders. Went on an epic walk every morning along the road with the pups. Home is old school and exactly what is needed for a true vacation. With the river directly in front of you there is no excuse to be outside. Ate a fantastic Dinner at The Tavern. Caught some sports at JJ’s. Went to Trivia night at Wolf Hills brewery. An epic 3 days.
Nice location near the river and close drive to Abingdon. Outside deck was great for games and gathering. Luckily we had nice weather! Enough bedrooms to fit our family, but note that not all are private due to the layout. Kitchen utensils and cooking supplies are limited and it has a small living area. Some basic cleaning supplies, like a broom, would be helpful. Only one trash bag and no extra toilet paper so be prepared! The house sits on a sloped hill with a tricky driveway, but stargazing was nice. Kayaks and canoe were fun, but there’s no real entry into the river right across the road so it was a challenge getting in and out. Bought firewood through host in advance, but did not use it because the ring is right next to the road and the “firewood” looked like old planks from a house. A few items left under the beds and on the porch also made me question how clean it was. The Host definitely communicated, with multiple texts during our weekend stay. Overall, it served its purpose and my mom loved the porch overlooking the river. However, it is an old house in the country with well water so it’s hard to give it a 5-star rating compared to some other more updated places we’ve stayed.
We needed a place for Easter weekend so that we could visit my brother, who lives in Abingdon. We chose this property for the proximity to the river (North Fork of Holston river) and still close to town for the great restaurants/ attractions Abingdon has to offer as well as only about a 12-15 minute drive to my brother’s house. Getting into the house was a breeze with the code provided. The house is directly across a very lightly travelled road from the river and has great views from the very large deck that encompasses the entire front of the house and expands along the driveway. We saw eagles, hawks, Kingfishers, Turkeys, etc and had a good chance to stargaze once the sun went down. There is also a small rock-rimmed firepit next to the river that was enjoyable.
The bedroom setup was a little different, as a few of the beds are only accessible by passing thru another bedroom. We were all family so it wasn’t really an issue. Beds were comfortable with the exception of middle, upstairs mattress. There are canoes and kayaks in the garage for river excursion. My son in law and grandkids had a blast fishing and its such easy access to the river from the house…no packing lunch, snacks, drinks…just watching them from the deck! Phlox and daffodils blooming just outside the kitchen/dining room windows were beautiful. Only one full bath /a shower stall so had to schedule out shower times but again, w/ close family it all went smoothly. Overall pleasant stay w/ lots of fish
This property was perfect for our family get a way. Creek was perfect for fishing and canoeing. (It was a little chilly during our stay but made the most of it.) The teenage kids had all upstairs and adults stayed downstairs. Lots of fun, shopping, outdoor fun and laughs were had.
Beautiful views, close to Abingdon, connected bedrooms
Four adults, two cats, and one dog all stayed here for about two weeks in the winter. Overall, we were quite pleased with the stay, but there were a few drawbacks. Only two rooms of the six are private, the other four require passing through someone’s room or being in an open loft area without any sound privacy. The listing wasn’t super clear about the close quarters of the space, but it thankfully wasn’t much of an issue for our group of four. The well water was stinky, but we were prepared for that (clearly states in the listing). The host provided us a couple gallons of water to start with, but we ended up purchasing a lot more. The larger beds were comfy enough, but the twin beds (5 beds total) were very uncomfortable and sagged in the middle. Probably okay for kids, but wouldn’t recommend trying to put teenagers or adults on them for any length of time. The driveway was a little steep but overall manageable. It was a bit dangerous when it iced over, but we purchased salt and had no further issues. The kitchen is pretty well stocked with cooking supplies, but I would recommend bringing a knife sharpener and your own mixing bowls (if needed). The view of the river is beautiful and the deck is very nice. We didn’t interact much with the neighbors and they weren’t super close-by, but just a few houses down is a confederate flag and lots of signs for #45. As a multiracial group of people, we weren’t super comfortable taking walks along the road/river. Just something to be aware of, not the host’s fault. It’s only about 15 minutes to Abingdon proper which had a nice bakery (Anthony’s) and a cool coffee shop (Girl and Raven — try their sorghum cookies and cinnamon rolls!). There are a few big grocery stories in town offering curbside pickup and the Virginia Creeper Trail is a must-see! Our dog loved running around the hill behind the house, and there are so many beautiful hikes and parks within 90 minutes of the house. We loved Grayson Highlands, Devil’s Bathtub, Cherokee Nat’l Forest, and Whitetop Mountain.

We will add a knife sharpener and mixing bowls to our kitchen supplies. We just put new mattresses on the twin beds. I am so glad you enjoyed the local attractions!
Excellent location in quiet country side close to all facilities in the tri state area. We were only two people but the house is suitable for much larger parcels.
This is a great location to get away. The house sits on a hillside overlooking the river and the street but still feels like a very private getaway. Was nice seeing the river with the mountains in the background every morning. Definitely would like to rent this house again. Megan was a great host.
Bob and Fran were extremely easy to work with and fantastic host. If you are looking for a quiet and peaceful place, this is it. Cell service was spotty but it made it that much more peaceful not looking at our phones all the time. This would be perfect for a large family getaway or for two people like us. Once we got settled in, it was very comfortable and had everything we needed. We brought along our dogs and they loved being able to run and play in the back yard area. We would definitely stay here again and hope to in the Spring possibly.
We enjoyed our stay. Property was great. Outdoor shower not functional. Washer and Dryer not found. I feel like shower and washer/dryer should be taken out of description. I felt like upstairs air conditioner should have been put in window given summer conditions.
Owner was a great communicator! Beds were clean & comfortable; we ate breakfast every morning on the front porch watching the river float past. We caught several fish and ate those too! The cabin has 7 beds(!) but only one shower and 2 couches, which was fine for our family of 4 but might be cramped for a larger group. Could use some updates on porch furniture & towels. Oven door is broken. TV had no satellite service, nor did we have cell phone service or a DVD player. Not a bad thing necessarily....we came to unplug! We enjoyed riding the Creeper Trail, hiking and fishing. We wanted to use the kayaks but couldn’t find a place to put in the river; in front of the cabin is a drop-off. Overall, it was a relaxing experience! Thanks Bob!
