Raised in Darien, Connecticut, got BA degree from Washington College, Chestertown, Maryland; attended Oxford University in Oxford, England and obtain law degree from Cornell University Law School, Ithaca, New York. Worked in New York City for Clifford Chance (formerly Rogers & Wells) and relocated to Florida in 1990s and started private law practice on Marco Island.
