*** Winter and 2022 Guests~ We are excited to announce that in October and November we will be completing a significant facelift on our beautiful home! Plans include new flooring, bathrooms and kitchen, updated appliances, closet doors. As you can see guests have LOVED their stay with us as-is and you can expect that wonderful experience plus so much! We plan to update our pictures as soon as possible!

Welcome to Our Mountain Home: the perfect space for a family get-together, a romantic getaway, a reunion of friends, and everything in between. It offers bright vaulted ceilings, a fully stocked kitchen, a wood-burning stove (also central heat and AC), a well-maintained hot tub, and gorgeously landscaped grounds. Just minutes from Packwood town center, it is an ideal gateway to the Gifford Pinchot National Forest, Mount Rainier National Park, and White Pass Ski Area. We can't wait to host you!

While the inside space and hot tub will make you feel right at home, the outside space is magical. Please plan to spend some time enjoying the sights and sounds of nature from the beautiful covered patio, build a fire in the pit with provided wood, and pause.

Our neighborhood is very quiet and nestled in the forest in the upper Timberline neighborhood. Elk are the most frequent visitors. From the house there are quiet gravel roads that can be walked. The town of Packwood is very sweet with 300 year-round residents. It is about 5 minutes west on Hwy 12 and has a quaint food market, liquor store, a few artisan shops, a coffee shop, a brewery, a tavern, and a restaurant or two. We always recommend doing big shopping before you arrive. White Pass is about 20 minutes east for your winter fun.

You have full access to the main house (2 bed, 2 bath, & futon) and outside space including hot tub, covered outdoor entertainment area, fire pit and landscaped portion of the property. There is a garage on the premises that is off limits and periodically accessed by the owners.

We had a great weekend stay at this peaceful cabin. Needed some tall tree therapy and this place was perfect in every way. Nicely appointed cabin with everything we needed. The outside bbq area was a great place to sit and relax and listen to the sounds of nature. Would definitely stay here again! Thank you Caitlyn!

Amazing cabin!

Cozy cabin! It has an awesome hot tub, great outdoor area for BBQing, and the owners are really nice people. Really close to White Pass ski area. Would definitely stay here again.

Mt Rainier Trip

Alpinwald is a great place to stay. Comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen, beautiful property, and a hot tub. Very convenient location close to park entrances and town with nice grocery store and restaurants. Beware there are Elk everywhere around Packwood. Thanks for hosting us.

This Packwood rental hit all the right notes: Hot tub, wood burning fireplace, easy access, cookies upon arrival. You just couldn't ask for more. Spacious yard that was beautifully landscaped. Close to White Pass. We hope to visit again!

This was a wonderful house with a lovely hotub and outside area with a fire pit. The beds were so comfortable and the neighborhood is peaceful. There is a cute town with a few shops nearby and white pass ski resort close by. The little extras were great like extra towels for the hotub and stuff for s'mores and firewood for the fireplace and fire pit. Loved everything!!

Ultimate relaxation getaway

The home is very nice and clean. A rustic modern decor. The highlight is the outdoor space. We enjoyed making homemade pizza in the outdoor pizza oven. It was a real treat. Our only suggestion is the mattresses and living room furniture could use an upgrade.

Excellent Location

My wife and I had not taken a true vacation in the last 2 years. This was a great place to get away and disconnect from the world while we recharge our batteries. The house is very comfortable to live in and the host is very responsive to all of your needs. Be advised there is no cell reception here, but you can use wifi to stay connected if you choose. Packwood does have a strong signal and is a few minutes down the road. Of our many rentals over the years, this is our favorite and look to re-book again in the future.

Awesome retreat

Our family enjoyed two nights at this well appointed home. Owner was readily available and concerned with our comfort and relaxation. Awesome weekend getaway for our little family. The hot tub was a hit!. The beds were sooo comfortable with super soft sheets and blankets. The property's landscape was a dream. Hoping to return soon. Took about 30 minutes to white pass ski hill. We returned home for lunch/hot tub and nap mid day then returned to hill for night skiing. Totally feasible.

Wonderful!

We loved our stay at this wonderful house! The location near Mt. Rainier National Park made it easy to access the park, yet close enough to Packwood for a quick run for groceries. The house is filled with amenities, especially in the kitchen where we found many basic supplies, ie coffee, tea, creamer, spices, pancake mix, and more. The beds are very comfortable and having two full baths is always a plus. The outdoor area is a great addition to this house--so peaceful and relaxing! We ate almost every meal there and enjoyed watching the Stellar Jays and Douglas Squirrels. The owners are very responsive and friendly, with great communication. We would definitely stay here again if we are in the area!

Beautiful home with an Amazing Outdoor Space

The home was beautiful. Recently re-done and very clean! The outdoor space is such a huge perk. We enjoyed several nights out there around the fire or in the hot tub. Owner even left us a Smores kit which we put to very good use! Location is very convenient to Mt. Rainier National Park - especially the Sunrise side. But we were even able to get to the Paradise side to hike the Skyline loop before the crowds. Packwood is a small town, but has a well appointed grocery and we really enjoyed Packwood Brewing and the AirStream Ice Cream next door! Also highly recommend the new Flying Raven Ropes Course at Crystal Mountain if you have kids - it was a lot of fun and not far from the VRBO! If we are ever in the area again, we would stay at this home again - no question!

Wonderful Experience

I rarely write reviews, but felt inclined in this case. We stayed here 2/20/23-2/23/23 with our family of five. From the moment we walked in, we noticed attention to detail everywhere. The cabin was clean, warm, and beautifully decorated. We loved the kitchen!! The hot tub was a hit! Everything was prepared and well thought out and the Welcome Notebook and notes throughout the house were thorough and super helpful. The power actually went out while we were there and it was below freezing out. They left all the relevant information for us to manage this occurrence without stress or worry. After a day of skiing, we were equally excited to come 'home' to Alpinwald and relax. We felt very well taken care of and will hope to stay here again when we return to Packwood.

Mt Rainier Family Getaway

This property is perfect for a family getaway to unplug and refresh. The home is located in a quaint town…that has everything you need…my kids never had been to a small town…and they agreed the vibe was right in Packwood. The home itself is located in a neighborhood that is beautifully hidden in the woods. It has all the amenities you need for your stay. Comfy beds, kitchen utensils and appliances, indoor and outdoor spaces to eat and relax. The home includes all that you need—dish soap, hand soap, laundry pods, coffee and even some butter and syrup! We went and made a Walmart run while in Seattle and bought a lot of things the house already had! All in all, this home made our vacation a dream. Close enough for our all Mt Rainier trail hiking adventures, access to Netflix when we wanted to chill at home. We couldn’t have picked a more perfect home for our vacation! Truly hated packing up and leaving!

Could be great but a little tired

A great property but needs some help. Just seems like they are letting it go. Whoever cleans just hits the middle. Closet doors don’t work well, coffee pot, dryer vent, and carpet dirty. Down spouts don’t go in and when it rains it’s a mess. Curtain in second bedroom hanging sideways. No instructions for the tv which we couldn’t use. There were ants in the kitchen. Overall this was probably 5 star at one time but as I said needs some TLC.

Perfect!

Alpenwold is a lovely house in a woodsy neighborhood in Packwood. Caitlyn, the owner, has created a wonderful get away. and place to unwind. The house is cozy, secluded and clean. The decor and furnishings contribute to a wonderful getaway! The outside area with the hot tub (used!), fire pit, grill and pizza over (which we didn't get to use due to fires) were an added bonus! We appreciated that Caitlyn warned us about the Goat Rocks fire, not too far from the house, and then again checked in when things appeared to change during our. visit. She was very easy to get a hold of, even though she was out of the. country! Thank you so much for a. fun weekend get away!
