Just as described - extremely clean - very comfortable home - good parking on street if pulling a small trailer. Easy access to everywhere. Great place to stay and loved the upstairs deck!

We knew the property would be nice before we arrived, but it exceeded our highest expectations. Well appointed, impressively clean and comfortable. The host was communicative, helpful, and friendly. We will definitely return to this property in the future!

Thank you, Kellie! You were the kind of guests that make hosting such a joy.
The owners of this property came over almost everyday. They asked to be let in, even when we weren’t there; the strangest request was to enter the rooms early in the morning to water plants. It was quite odd behavior. While I believe this house is beautiful, the stay was very uncomfortable and a massive waste of money.

This reservation was one of those unfortunate experiences that could have been prevented if all the information was disclosed from the beginning. Normally, when I don't have anything great to say I use the golden rule. However, she decided to review me so I was put in the position of doing the same and responding here.
I will grant this group of college students some grace in the fact that they didn't have any prior experience with rental agreements and it was apparent. Since the reservation was for three months, I prepared a rental agreement and emailed Serena several weeks prior to their stay. As most of us know that is the time frame to negotiate clauses to see if it's going to be a good fit and not after the agreement is signed!! Several days after moving in Serena had some issues with the contract. As a result we meet up several times during their week stay to try to meet in the middle. Her issues were that a group of her friends from back East decided to rent 4 homes in Salida and would all be staying at each others houses and that she had been dating a girl that lived locally which would be staying over. She was not on the contract. If this information had been clear, I wouldn't have accepted the reservation. I wasn't comfortable with kids drinking at my home without the knowledge that they were of the legal drinking age. This is also before vaccines became available and I was concerned about large gatherings in the middle of a pandemic. It's unfortunate that this stay didn't work out but it was a liability having them in my home.
We wanted a nice get away from the huddle and bustle of the daily routine This proved to be a great place. The house was perfect snd so comfortable. Close to Monarch ski area and other outdoor fun, which we enjoyed.
My husband's job was remote and we've always liked Salida but never visited for longer than a day, so we decided to stay for almost a month. This home was great for many reasons. The main one was ample outside hang out spaces. The master bedroom has a balcony with views of all the mountains and the porch has a swing and is in the shade. The back yard is completely fenced in and private with a cute patio with table and chairs. There's even a fenced-in bike storage area in back that can be locked up upon request. The kitchen has all the gadgets for food prep with modern appliances and gorgeous stone countertops. In fact, the whole house is done up so well. You'll feel really cozy, especially on clear nights, as there aren't much in the way of streetlights, so you can actually see the stars!
The neighbors are quiet and the street is quiet in general. You'll see the local deer hanging out during different times of the day. We walked everywhere or rode our bikes. We were there mainly to ride mountain bikes so just ask the owner for advice. She's got the hook up on where to ride, hike, etc.
Kalen made us feel very welcome and it was very hard to leave. We'll be back!

I've been in the healing arts for over 20 years. I enjoy creating spaces for individuals to completely relax into. I grew up in Salida and continue to enjoying living, working and raising children in this down to earth community . Sking, mountain biking, hiking, camping, yoga and soaking in the hotsprings are all recreational activities I take pleasure in frequently!!
Casa de Salida was built on hope and dreams and a lot of love! Although these visions have changed through the years with many setbacks and obstacles, the children and I keep adapting and thinking creatively to rise to the occasion. We bought the lot in 2004 when lots were still affordable and did most of the construction on the house ourselves with the help of some friends to build our dream home. I am grateful to be able to share our resource with you which helps my family and I continue to live in the town in which I grew up and have family in. Please relax, unwind and enjoy your experience at our home and be mindful to treat it as if it were your own. Many Thanks, Kalen and Co.
Why they chose this property
This house was intentionally designed and build by the family and friends from the ground up. We had environmental factors in mind during the planning and execution progress. It's constructed with SIP( structural insulated panels) making the walls tight and well insulated reducing our carbon footprint through less energy consumption and construction waste. The floors and trim were crafted with Douglas Fir from a local mill. The heating system is hydronic baseboard board which again uses less energy. You'll notice concrete countertops in the kitchen and one upstairs bathroom. Over time the landscaping has come together with a variety of relaxing outdoor spaces a dry rock river bed and walk with just enough vegetation to bring the outdoor spaces to life. Casa de Salida has a very conscious resonance in which you will relax, unwind and settle right into.
What makes this property unique
Quiet neighborhood yet close to downtown. There is a mellow shaded park within eyesight from the property if you have children.
