About Andrew (or Russian River Vacation Homes)
I must have been an innkeeper in a previous life because I love stewarding this tranquil retreat for folks who want to slow down, reconnect with nature, and share intimate time with a loved one. The setting is a sunny and private waterfront opening in the coastal forest. The 1/2 acre property is graced with a pebble beach and 600-year-young redwoods. I named it “Sequoia Beach Dreamery.” Guests LOVE this place. And their guest book comments remind me how much I enjoy both the peaceful setting and its closeness to all that this magical part of northern California has to offer. Chances are you’ll come to think of it as your own dreamy getaway. Indeed, think of it as your NEW BACK YARD.

Why Andrew (or Russian River Vacation Homes) chose Cazadero
The first time I drove along Big Austin Creek I loved the setting. I searched for a year until I found the sweetest spot offering views up and down the year-round creek. I had looked at properties right on the Sonoma coast, but I found them to be windy and foggy too much of the time. But the Dreamery is in a protected 'banana belt' micro-climate -- just one coastal range removed from the ocean. I chose Cazadero because it’s off the touristy circuit, yet close enough to enjoy the coastline (15 min), the Russian River (10 min), and wine country attractions. Santa Rosa airport is 45 min. away and it's only 98 min. to the Golden Gate Bridge (I timed it!). You'll be close to world-class amenities and everything this eco-adventure region has to offer.
What makes this House unique
We’ve given special attention to creating a calming atmosphere with extra touches that offer an ongoing sense of “Greeting.” The goal is to delight guests who seek a break from the Hurley-Burly of the fast-paced urban scene. Visit the Dreamery, fill your lungs with fresh country air, and feel the Calm.

Perfect Getaway in the Redwoods
We had a really great time at the Dreamery, it is such a wonderful property. The calm that the trees exude permeates everything, and the Zen aesthetic of the cabin is a perfect fit. We measured one of the four large trees at more than 6.5 feet diameter, and several others are only a little smaller. The creek that flows in front of the house is crystal clear and burbles gently.
We also loved the area, it is very secluded but still close to a variety of interesting things to do and see. Aside from well-known attractions such as Armstrong Redwood and of course the wineries, some of our favorite spots were Wildflower Bread, Bohemian Creamery, and Grove of the Old Trees, just to name a few. I also recommend driving the little back roads to get a feel for the terrain. They run westwards to the coast through redwoods, steep canyons, and finally down to the rugged, iconic shoreline.
In terms of amenities we found everything we needed at the cabin, it is very well appointed. It was probably the cleanest vacation rental we've ever stayed at, and the recently remodeled bathroom is beautiful. The high quality bedding was also appreciated. Since we visited in winter we really loved the big windows, you still feel like you're among the trees when you're in the kitchen/dining area, especially on those foggy mornings. A hot tub and fireplace round out the amenities.
The owner and rental agency were very friendly, easy to work with, and went above and beyond to accommodate us. Many thanks, we hope to be back soon!
Florian and Shayna ... thank you for your review and thoughtful suggestions. You visited some of our favorite places in this beautiful part of Sonoma County ... and ... there is still so much more to discover and enjoy. We're delighted you enjoyed your stay and look forward to hosting you again soon.
Dream at the Dreamery
Our 5th stay in 8 years - go there - and chill out - turn off all the inputs - read books --- and cook
Your continued visits to the Dreamery are always appreciated. It's clear that you and Cathy understand the true spirit of place. Thank you so much ... as they say "mi casa es su casa."
Unique outdoor 'REDWOOD CATHEDRAL', hanging footbridges, and year-round WATERFALL are within walking distance.
We are located in the the Russian River appellation. Dozens of wineries are nearby - wine tasting, fine dining easily accessible.
There is a public swimming pool in Rio Nido about 30 minutes away (Rio Nido Roadhouse).
The villages of Jenner-By-The-Sea, Duncans Mill, Monte Rio, Guerneville, Occidental, Graton, Forestville, Sebastopol, Freestone, and Healdsburg are a short drive, so shopping, dining, visiting artists' studios and galleries, and antique collecting are easy activities.
