La Casa Roja on the Llano River

La Casa Roja was designed and built by the owner in 2003 as her idyllic Hill Country escape. This beautiful 10 acre site on the Llano River is the perfect retreat, where heavenly mornings are spent on the 500 sq. ft screened porch sipping coffee, watching birds, and taking in the view. The property has direct river access with deep swimming holes and great fishing, plus two fire pits, breathtaking sunsets, and nothing but wide TX skies (shooting stars included!)

A great place for a romantic getaway, weekend with friends, or family time. La Casa Roja is just a great place to relax and let the world slide by!

The kitchen was updated in 2025 with all new state of the art appliances, and fully stocked with all cookware and plateware to enjoy gourmet meals at home. You can even cook outside on the charcoal grill and enjoy the most dramatic sunsets in Texas and the Llano River!

The living area has plenty of comfortable seating to enjoy a good book, music on the Bose speaker, and a 42" flat screen TV/DVD, DirecTV satellite. On chilly nights, enjoy the wood burning fireplace (with gas starter!) There are two dining areas, one indoor and one outdoor (in the screened in porch), which can each comfortably seat 6 guests.

The ranch-style house has three bedrooms--two king-sized beds and one queen bed--and two full bathrooms. The king (master) bedroom enjoys direct access to the screened in porch, and has enough space to accommodate a pack and play (not included).

There is a laundry room/pantry with a stack washer/dryer, microwave, and all necessary cleaning supplies.

But the beauty of this place is in the great outdoors! There are a number of great places to post up and hang out across the property, from a two-person swing down by the river to picturesque benches overlooking the view, two firepits, and a cozy couch area (separate from the dining table) in the screened in porch.

Downtown Llano is 11 miles away, Fredericksburg is 30 minutes away, Enchanted Rock is 20 minutes away, Castell is 8 miles west on RR 152, but you may never want to leave this cozy, private retreat.

Quiet weekend getaway

We were in the area for an event and needed a comfortable place to stay with our family….we were not disappointed. Beautiful location and access to the river. The house was roomy and very comfortable. Will definitely stay here again.

Great river property all to yourself

This is a beautiful property and a very well laid out cabin. We visited with two families of three plus one small dog. We had plenty of space for everybody. Enjoy your time here and book longer if you have the time. You won't want to leave!Only word of advice, is to bring some good water shoes. The river entry can be a bit steep and slippery at times.

Beautiful little get away spot

Absolutely love this cabin! We have stayed here a few times now and it is just cozy. You can enjoy the screened in porch while watching wildlife, go walk the river, or just chill inside. Close enough to Llano or Casteel. Only thing that was confusing was check in, they wanted you to call and text upon arrival/departure but no number was provided anywhere in instructions, email or vrbo.

Hidden gem

It’s a little out of the way but we really enjoy the location and the cozy home. Kids loved the river and climbing on the giant rocks. Looking forward to coming back in the future.

River front heaven

We have been staying in the hill country since I was young (my grandfather and dad are hunters). This is by far the most beautiful place I’ve ever stayed. It was pristine, about a 5 min walk from the river, and had all of the amenities that we needed.

Beautiful stay at a fabulous farmhouse. Very peaceful and relaxing. Kitchen has all you need for meal prep. The river was beautiful and relaxing. Spent our time at river or on the screened in porch watching all the birds and wildlife. Our second stay and definitely not our last. Thank you for sharing this home.

Nice riverside home with everythjng you need for a great stay. The property was very nice even with the river being low from the drought, I can only imagine how it will be when the Hill country gets their much needed rain

Beautiful property! Listening to the river- the yard was designed for bird and butterfly gatherings. Front screen porch is amazing. Did I mention outdoor shower? 💜💜💜

Seclusion at its best!

We loved the house, the early dear crossing right in front of the house, the ability to go to the water and explore all the ponds, quartz collecting and don’t forget.....you can fish anytime you want! Another wonderful weekend on the Llano

This is the second time my friends and have stayed at this property and we hope to make it an annual tradition. This place really has it all. Comfortable accommodations, privacy and tranquility, incredible views, amazing landscape for hiking, swimming and fishing. If you love nature and having a cool and comfortable place to lay your head down at night, then this is the spot for you. The property manager is also extremely responsive and accommodating and helped to ensure we had a memorable, safe and fun visit.

Gorgeous property! Our kids enjoyed playing horseshoes, climbing rocks, and exploring the river. My husband enjoyed some quiet time fishing. And we liked the fact that it accommodated our micro golden-doodle. As a runner, I loved running the property from end to end, and back again. And the sunsets and star gazing are truly remarkable.

The Essence of the Texas Hill Country

This property is hill country perfection. We took a family trip to Rio De Looney in early April. The house is wonderful, with plenty of room, a well-appointed kitchen, and everything you need for a comfortable vacation. We enjoyed the large screened-in porch, which is a great place to relax and sip coffee in the morning while listening to the sounds of nature. It also was a good location for several friendly ping pong tournaments! The kiddos and adults both enjoyed exploring the property, and the wildflowers were in full bloom. Lots of beautiful bluebonnets and indian paintbrushes dotted the front meadow, and that gave us a nice backdrop for some great pictures of our family. We challenged each other in horse-shoes while the smell of apple wood and mesquite smoke teased us all afternoon, working its magic on the racks of ribs in the smoker. The Llano river is very close to the house, and the hang-out area next to the river is beautiful. Although the nights were chilly, the days were warm enough to tempt us into the cold river water, and we spent hours swimming, fishing, and exploring the nice rock formations out in the middle of the river. The scenery is exquisite, and we felt as if we had a unique state park all to ourselves. At night, we would crack open a cold beer and crowd around the fire pit as the 360 degree view of the Texas sky unveiled an unrivaled display of stars. As a shooting star whizzed by, I wished for a property like this of my own. If you are planning a trip to the Llano area, this property will definitely not disappoint. The entire trip was a complete five star experience, as were my interactions with Karen, who made everything very easy and convenient. We all hope to return to this little slice of heaven on the banks of the Llano, where the spring nights are cool, the river water is cooler, and the beer is ice cold!

Favorite hill country getawat

We love this property and have stayed several times. It’s our favorite quick getaway from Austin. Very peaceful and restful. (Do be cautious with very young ones - lots of spiny or stinging flora or fauna in the country - littles cannot be outside unsupervised.)
