**Winter Adventurers: Sapphire Sage is the perfect, reasonably priced, getaway for Winter Park and Granby Ranch skiers. Winter Park Ski resort is only 35 minutes away. Granby Ranch Ski Area is a 20 minute drive for those new to skiing or skiers looking for a more affordable mountain. After skiing your heart out, we are very closer to Hot Sulfur Hot Springs. It is a hot springs open year round perfect for unwinding after skiing. The cabin is located off of a major county road that is plowed so winter accessibility is available as long as the roads are open. Other popular winter activities in the area include snowmobiling, dog sled tours, snowshoeing and snow tubing.
The cabin has a key-less entry lock. A code will be provided upon booking.
Things to note: Because of the cabin's easy access to roads, this cabin will not offer absolute silence and seclusion and may not be the place for you. You will hear highway noises during your stay. In winter, this proximity is appreciated by guests because of the snow. Like most mountain homes in this area, there is also proximity to neighbors.
We recommend having a car to get around during your trip. There is phenomenal hiking, wildlife, skiing, and hot springs all within a 30 minute drive (or less) of the cabin!
If you are traveling during the winter months, November through March, we highly recommend an AWD or 4WD vehicle so that you don't have any issues getting over Berthoud Pass. Winter weather can start as early as October and go as late as May. Please check the weather and plan ahead!
For severe weather, we do have a strict cancellation policy as defined by Airbnb. However, we are sensitive to those traveling in the mountains when the weather is capable of shutting down the roads. If highways are closed due to severe weather, we will provide at minimum a partial refund for the night(s) affected by closed roads. If the highways are open, the remaining nights will still be charged full price. Typically, roads are not closed for more than 24 hours at a time.
There is a $300 deposit for the cabin. It is not charged to you upon booking, only reserved in the case of damage or theft. If something gets damaged or broken, please let us know and we will figure out a solution.
**There are two main routes into Grand Lake if you are coming from the East. The quickest way is to take I-70 to Berthoud Pass. Denver to Grand Lake is a 2 hour drive. The second route, over Trail Ridge Road through RMNP is more scenic and costs $25/car. If you drive from Denver, over Trail Ridge Road and into Grand Lake it is about a 3 hour drive. **Please note that Trail Ridge Road is closed throughout the winter as most of the road is above treeline. Please visit https://www.nps.gov/romo/planyourvisit/road_status.htm to check daily closures of the road.
Please note that if you cancel a booked reservation, and it is within the timeframe for a full refund, you will receive the refund minus the credit card processing fee of 2.9%.

Well appointed little cabin in a convenient location. Location was very convenient. We were close to trails and shadow lake. Pleasant and not crowded. A short drive from Grand Lake. Grateful we were there instead of in a noisy campground or crowded condo complex. Cabin had everything we needed- small but very nice. Owners were very helpful and easy to communicate with.
The cabin was very clean and was at a good location to visit both Grand Lake and Granby. Additionally, my group and I felt comfortable spending large portions of our day inside when the weather was really cold.

We were in town to work a festival. Great place, convenient location ... everything we were looking for. Thank you!
Cute place, with nice finishes and great location!
Super cute cabin with everything we needed. Loved the intimate space yet everyone had their own separate sleeping space. Clean, bright and comfortable. Easy to get to town and nice views of the lake and mountains!!
We loved everything about the property. Close to Grand Lake, close to RMNP. Rustic on the outside and modern on the inside. Just wish it wasn't so close to the highway. Jordan was great We talked to her twice with questions during our stay and she got right back to us.

Hi Kathleen- thanks again so much for staying, we are thrilled you enjoyed the cabin!
We loved this cabin! It was four (adult) friends and everything was absolutely perfect. They thought of everything, and even left us snacks and coffee. Check in couldn't have been easier, communication was great, everything was so clean and adorable. Beds were comfortable. And the way they decorated this cabin was so well-done. I would stay there again anytime. Even the location was perfect...we walked across the street to hike, paddle-boarded and were about 5 minutes from downtown.

Thanks for the review Sara! We are so happy that you loved the cabin and snacks and that you were able to walk out the front door to catch the hiking trails!
Overall, this was a very nice, updated cabin for the right price.
I would have enjoyed a better view of the lakes, and further away from the road. I would suggest removing or updating the listing to remove the photo of the view of the lake from the front deck. That photo is an inaccurate depiction of the view.
The shower was awesome! The coffee bar was a very welcome perk. And overall it was the perfect home base for all pur adventures.

Nice Hosts, Horrible Experience
First, I’d like to state that the host was very kind when we spoke on the phone, however, our experience aside from speaking with her briefly was horrible. The unit was not clean at all. There was thick dust and spider webs on the low hanging light above the table. Left over food in the fridge and freezer, as well as, behind the trash can, hair everywhere (in the shower, sink, bathroom walls, furniture, and worst of all in the bed linens), but the nastiest was the finger nail clippings in the bed sheets. I almost vomited…
We were forced to go search for clean linens in the storage shed which was very dark & made us concerned for snakes as the door to that building doesn’t quite shut all the way. Don’t get me wrong…We were grateful to have the option, but yanking linens out of a storage tote doesn’t feel “clean” when the unit we were in was one of the dirtiest I have ever walked into.
The other disappointing aspect is that this is directly off Hwy 34. It was so loud that we were never able to actually sit outside and chat. The location was a bit misleading in the pics which definitely left a very negative taste, especially after realizing the unit wasn’t even cleaned before we arrived. We did appreciate that the host returned our cleaning fee and seemed mortified when we sent pictures, but communication was limited once we were told where to get different sheet sets. The host was nice (only reason for 3 stars), but this is not a spot I would ever come back to nor recommend.
Jason, my husband, and I are a travel loving, adventurous couple who loves, well traveling! In our free time, we enjoy backpacking, camping, good beer and doing home improvements. We enjoy hosting and meeting people from all walks of life. We hope you'll stay at our cabin and enjoy this place we have worked so hard on.
Why they chose this property
We love this property because it has such a rich history. The cabins were built in the 1930's to house workers that built Lake Granby. Over the years, they have been both nightly and long term rentals. Names have changed over the years from Crescent Cabins, Timberlake Cabins, Cassandra's Cabins and now Wild Acre Cabins. There are three cabins on the property that all are/were in need of maintenance and updates. We have taken on the challenge of fixing them up and hope that you will enjoy the touches we put on them! This listing is for only one cabin that sleeps two people. The other cabins are not yet rental ready.
