The hosts were very accommodating with our last minute booking . The location is great: smack in the middle of off a whole bunch of attractions. The only reason for not 5 stars is the beds are a bit tired, and the WiFi was problematic. Other than that; all excellent.

Thanks Ben for that review. Sorry about the internet issues, we were in the middle of upgrading to fibre which wasn't yet fully functioning. That is sorted out now and running at high speed.
Hadn't had that feedback on the beds before so thanks for pointing that out. We will look to upgrade two of them, the other two are new and we will add topper pads increase comfort.
Our group (two families) had a great weekend away, despite the weather. The location was great for Goat Island and Matakana - so much to do in the area. And the bach was peaceful and comfortably accommodated our group of 7.

Homely family Bach / no frills , comfortable and loved for those wanting a kiwiana holiday. No real beach access but trips to cool places all around..
This beautiful home provided our group with everything we needed to celebrate a friends wedding in Leigh - great place to rest, watch the league, yarn and pre-load before our event and de-brief over a cuppa when we retreated back to the house.
The Bach was stunning. It was exceptional that at such short notice we were able to book. It made our son’s birthday really memorable. We would definitely recommend.
The location was great. Goat island snorkeling, wine tasting, the reptile park, gelato and the farmers market all within a short drive. Beautiful area. Ross was very quick to respond to our questions. The rain/weather did its best to dampen our spirits, but we still had fun.
I booked both of Ross' properties to accomodate me, my fiance, our kids and our bridal party and it was one of the best decisons i made! The houses were awesome and there was so much space! The convenience was unmatched and everyone else agreed. Both houses gave us the feeling of home away from home and we all had a blast. Thank you so much! Would definitely love to stay again.
Stunning ancient pohutukawa trees out the back, complete with hammock. Well equipped, especially the kitchen. Loads of sun and charm, great for a family getaway. Short drive to a nice wee beach at Matheson's Bay, or a longer drive to Pakiri. Note the Whangateau estuary is so tidal that it is mostly mudflats - that's all that stops this from being a 5 star recommendation.
It was a lovely stay with family.
We acknowledge there had been a lot of rain and then some sun. There was really long grass and it was muddy. We had no idea how wet it was so we drove onto the grass and the cars sadly made ruts. There weren't enough paving slabs.. we had to walk through mud to get to them.
The BBQ was filthy so we didn't use it. No extractor fan in the kitchen.
The outdoor shower could do with a punga screen. The manager bought a photographer through after we arrived which was an inconvenience. Apart from that, a great stay.
Nothing flash here. No air con and we stayed over a very muggy period. Owner very responsive and easy to deal with though and supplied a couple of fans immediately.
Kayak access to estuary would've been difficult via back yard due to mangroves. This is indicated in manual. We didn't attempt it but we could've put them in over the road in the estuary, a couple of houses over where there is a small, very pretty beach. Great they supply kayaks for use.
The house suited us for the number of beds available and allowing a dog.
Location good for walks on Omaha Beach in the mornings and exploring Goat Island. Local fish and chip shop is up the road in Leigh.
Great comms and very helpful owner.

New Year Stay
Hi there,
Overall our stay was good, we did enjoy ourselves. The location is beautiful!
However I do want to mention a couple of things.
The house wasn’t very clean.
The rubbish situation wasn’t the best, the recycling bin was full so we had an allocated area on the deck where our recycling was put. We didn’t know what to do with the general rubbish and we didn’t get any information on what to do with it, eg put it on the road? Take it with us?
In the front room there was only one power point in the room. The bed was very uncomfortable.
When using the shower, the water would go hot and cold. We had issues with the washing machine, it kept coming up with an alert ‘SP’, but we did get it working in the end.
Thank you,
Kelsey Garrick

Thanks Kelsey for taking the time to do a review and for pointing out these things which we will look into and fix straight away. The bed and mattress are new and is quite firm and we will either change that or add a topper pad. Re the cleaning I will mention that to our normally excellent cleaner and we are happy to give a discount on the cleaning.
Sorry also re the hassle with the recycling which is emptied every two weeks. In future we will make sure some space is free. We will also make sure the rubbish instructions are clearer. We provide the orange rubbish bags which are collected Monday mornings.
We are only a phone call away and we are always happy come around and sort out any issues.
Great location to access all the delights of the local area. We were a group of 5 friends that stayed the night, everything was clean and well set up and the amazing fireplace kept us toasty on a cold winters night.
Had a really lovely stay at Ross' Bach with my girlfriends. The property is definitely bigger and better in person, with a perfect layout. It was well equipped particularly in terms of the kitchen utensils and linen provided. It was really well placed to take in the most of the local area but large enough for relaxing with movies (bring your chromecast) when the weather turned. Would absolutely love to stay again.
Had a lovely stay here, only thing was that the listing said there was a sofa bed but there wasn't although there was a spare mattress.

Hi Angie
Thanks for your feedback
There is a sofa bed that folds down to a queen sized bed in the sleep out as well as a queen bed in there. To turn the sofa in a bed you pull it forward until it clicks and then it goes down to a queen bed. We will improve the instructions on that. Thanks again for looking after the place so well and taking the time to give the feedback.
This was a well stocked kitchen, and everything was clean. The beds were nice and the living room was very nice. The kayaks were supposed to be in a garage but the garage was locked so we weren’t able to access them, and when I called the number for Denise no one picked up.
A good place to stay for a couple of days.
We stayed in the 'shoulder ' season and the evenings were still a bit chilly. Unfortunately no logs had been left for the fire, but a quick telephone call to the property manager soon put this right.
Would probably have used the bbq and kayaks if they had been readily available. The garage was locked and it would have been very difficult getting the equipment out through the side door. Again I presume that this is because it is not yet summer and the owners had assumed that these pieces of equipment would not be required.
Bit disappointing as one of the reasons we booked this particular property was the opportunity to kayak out on the estuary.
However the beds were comfortable and the bach was nice and clean - we had a good time overall and would recommend to our friends.

Kia ora, Our names are Anna and Ross Davis and we are originally from Auckland and have lived many years in Wellington. We are part of a large Māori, Pākehā and Moana Pacific families.
Why they chose this property
We bought the bach as we love sailing and mucking around on the water in small boats. We hope the kids love climbing one of the regions most beautiful pohutukawa trees, paddle boarding at high tide and even at low tide we love the long walks across the harbour. Bring old shoes or sandals.
What makes this property unique
Recently renovated, perfect private and shared spaces inside and out for enjoyment and hosting.
