About this property
Stunning High Desert View in Secluded Mountain Setting
If the sweeping scenery, luscious silence, and the high Sonoran desert of Southern Arizona is your passion, then you have found the perfect "snowbird" home away from home. With a 180 degree sweep of rolling high-desert foothills that lead up to the 9,000 foot peak, Mt. Wrightson, you will be amazed that there are no houses to mar you view.
Enjoy dinner and a sunset on the expansive "Sunset Magazine" inspired flagstone patio that becomes one of the best "rooms" in the house. Afterwards, as the stars slowly fill the night sky, luxuriate in an intimate hot tub with the same stunning views.
If you enjoy stargazing, there is virtually no light pollution as the stars light up the night sky. If you enjoy birding, you are in one of the premier areas in Southern Arizona to pursue your hobby. You are only 30 minutes from Patagonia with it's world-renowned bird sanctuary! You can also hike right from your back door to a series of trails that follow Sonoita creek and wind throughout the foothills.
If art is your thing, you are twenty minutes from the famous artist colony, Tubac, formerly a Spanish presidio from the 1600's. If history is your bent, you have Tombstone, Bisbee, Tucson, and all the western and Spanish history, all within an hours drive.
If you enjoy birding, you already know that Southern Arizona is a birder's paradise. Fifty Places to Go Birding Before You Die: Birding Experts Share the World’s Greatest Destinations. Patagonia – which lies 60 miles south of Tucson – garnered its ranking as a world-class birding destination and the heart of Arizona birding for a number of reasons: from the variety of bird species seen here (including a number of rare species) to the accessibility of prime birdwatching sites to the area’s geological and ecological diversity and beauty. Patagonia is only 40 minutes from the house!
You can hike and bike right out the door from our place. Below the house is Sonoita creek with an extensive hiking trail system. There are also numerous bike trails throughout the area.
Our place is your home away from home. We have been VRBO renters for many years and know exactly what we want from an outstanding VRBO experience. That's why we do are best to provide you with everything you may need at the house so that you never feel you are wanting for anything. As you can read, our reviews attest to this fact.
We look forward to having you as guests in our home to enjoy the privacy and the views that so many have enjoyed before you.

About the host
Hosted by Carew Papritz

We are long-time residents of Southern Arizona, having lived in our home in Rio Rico for over 10 years.
We are travelers who have rented many a VRBO over the years and have discovered what we like--and what we don't like. We bring this experience to our home, wanting our guests to have the most amazing VRBO experience they've ever had--as can be read by our many highly-rated reviews.
We like being hosts because we meet the most amazing people from all over the world. And many of them are return guests, which is the finest compliment any host can have.
If love amazing views, seclusion, hiking out-the-door, and a home-away-from home, then we believe you will love staying at our place.

What makes this property unique
The view. Everyone loves the view. Perched on a high ridgetop, you have almost180 degrees of high-desert valley, creeks, foothills and mesas, all leading up to the 9500 foot, Mt. Wrightson, located in the Catalina Mountains--all without a house to be seen.
And if you like hot tubs, you have a view on the lower patio of all this and more.
If you love to hike, we have an extensive hiking system directly below our house that starts on the other side of the Patagonia creek and riparian area. The area is filled with birds galore, white-tail deer, javelina, and coatimundi's (a cross between a racoon and a small monkey!). And yes, you will see cattle roaming our all over, as this is open-range area.
Yet, you are only 30 minutes to the 250 year-old Spanish mission and now artistic community of Tubac. You are only 40 minutes to the old mining and ranch town of Patagonia with a unique and quirky mix of artists, birders, and cowboys. Should you wish to walk across cross the border, you can visit the old town of Nogales, Sonora, only 30 minutes away.
As we mentioned, we have been VRBO renters over many years at many different properties. We know what it's like to not have everything you need and thus we try to make sure you want for nothing. We have a fully-stocked kitchen for all your cooking needs, including three different types of coffee makers (including an espresso machine), a complete spice rack (which always seems to make it in our reviews), and a wide assortment of pot's, pans, wine glasses, liquor glasses, and . . . you name it.
We believe in giving our guests an amazing and memorable VRBO experience, which should be the goal of every VRBO stay. If you have any questions about the place or the area, please feel free to reach out and we gladly answer your concerns. We hope to see you soon and welcome you to your home away from home here in Southern Arizona!
