Property is perfect for a long weekend getaway with your spouse/partner and a four legged friend. Nice and quiet! It's a bummer that the hot tub was not heating properly. That's the only reason for the 4 stars rating. Other than that, it's a great stay!

We are so sorry that the hot tub wasn't working! I totally understand that can put a damper on your plans. We are having it serviced now, sadly this time of year lots of people are having them serviced so the wait time is extra long. I wish we cold have fixed it sooner for you. Please come back and see us and I would be glad to give you a 20% discount for your troubles. Have a wonderful spring! See you soon.
Couldn't have been more happy with our stay. We have frequented many cabins in the past and this one goes above and beyond any expectations from our experiences. We will be regulars to this property, for sure! Not to mention the owners were extremely nice and ready available for any help or questions. We need more host like these around and more properties like this available. 10 out of 5 stars for sure!!!

Thank you Michael! We can’t wait for you to come back to Feen Rock! So happy you enjoyed it.
The location is awesome; so close to the bluest water around with so many tame deer and other wildlife! House is set up perfect for a big family gathering with kids. Pool and spa need a little work but owner just purchased and has some maintenance to catch up on. Owner and property manager were very responsive and attentive to needs.
Husband and I had a great time. The cabin is quaint, semi off the grid and so quiet. It was nice with no one around needing you every few minutes lol Cabin is clean and well stocked with everything you need. Comfy bed and cozy living space. The property is beautiful! Definitely a crazy drive to get there but we had fun. I am so glad we found this place and hope to visit again. Thank you Leah and Wes!
Beautiful property once you get up the mountain!! Great for my wife and I, very cozy. Jacuzzi was perfect after a day hiking on the AT. We had 4 wheel drive which was no problem even after the light snow the night before our arrival. My daughter came by to visit and made it up in a front wheel drive Honda. It is steep but the drive is ion great shape!
Amazing property - if you're looking for someplace peaceful, quiet, and secluded, grab some groceries and head on up! Leah was very accommodating and helpful. Would love to go back!
We absolutely loved the property, secluded and magical with views of the surrounding mountains in their full autumn foliage. Can't wait for a return trip.

Thank you Heather! We are so pleased you loved it! What a perfect weekend of colors you had! See you again soon :)
Property is listed as WiFi but does not have WiFi. You gain it by walking up a driveway to a sister property. Also the bed sheets were not changed but luckily a spare set was and we changed them out. Other than those two points it’s an average 3star stay.

I am so sorry to hear that the bed sheets were not changed. I am very shocked by this and will handle it immediately. This is the first this has happened. Please consider visiting again and we will make this up to you. Thanks for the feedback.
A great place for a family gathering....lots of place to be together and place to get away if desired. Well equipped with all you need for an enjoyable stay. Highly recommended!!

Thank you, Jim! I wanted to point out that you stayed here at Fox and also rented the Lodge as well and having the whole property is wonderful for family getaways! Thanks for all of your feedback and glad you enjoyed Fern Rock.
This property was so beautiful! I felt like I was in a fairy tale. The cabin was exceptionally clean and well stocked. There were hiking paths and a pond to play in for outdoor activities. My favorite part though, was just sitting on the back porch and absorbing the quiet.
We can't wait to come back!!

We can’t wait to host you again, Trennie! Thanks for loving our little Fix Den as much as we do. Have a wonderful fall season, see you again soon I hope.
We had a wonderful time. We rented Fox Den and Fawn Hideaway for a family vacation. Caught fish, kayaked and swam in the spring fed pond, enjoyed the fire pit and overall peacefulness of the property. We had cell service on one section of the patio so be aware of that as noted in the information. Thank you for the hospitality!
Had a great stay at this cabin. The kids loved the pond, kayaks, fishing, and archery. It was the perfect location for what we had planned.
Owner's description on the driveway is accurate, you will need 4x4 to get up it (especially if it rains). In addition to no wifi in the cabin itself (as described), we also had no cell phone service for miles. Just be prepared to be off grid while staying there. Not necessarily a bad thing...

We're always happy when a guest reports having a great stay! For Fox Den guests who don't have all-wheel drive, there is a flat parking area at the Guest Shed (if you don't mind walking up the hill). Cell service typically only works for Verizon or US Cellular, but the regular phone in the Guest Shed is available in case of an emergency. WIFI, for those who need it occasionally, is available on the property near Fern Rock Lodge and nearby at Dave's 209, a local restaurant.
Everything went perfect. Great little spot to spend a week or even a weekend. They had a folder of trips, which we used to explore the area. Owners were always helpful.

Justus and his family were great guests. He communicated with us and left the cabin in good condition. We would welcome him back.
We had another excellent stay and would absolutely come back again. The cabin is small and cozy - perfect for a long weekend. Our only real complaint is the shower being so small and the way the water sprays out when the door is opened - I felt bad using all the towels to keep the floor dry! But this is definitely a very minor problem :) We love this place!

quiet oasis in the mountains
Great get away in the mountains, It Is close to Appalachian trail. but you really don't need to leave the property for some nice short hikes. The fox Den has a spacious covered front porch with sweet rocking chairs ( and a couch) with stunning views
The bed was nice, even the futon was amazing comfortable. The fawn hideaway was very cozy everything that one needed.

Truely a special place, it made our holiday.
This was exactly what we were looking for. A log cabin nestled in the forest and off the beaten track. We hiked by day, soaked at sunset and drunk vino by the fire at night under the stars. Truely a special place, it made our holiday.

Absolutely perfect
This cabin and property was absolutely perfect for our quiet mountain weekend getaway. Fox den is small and cozy - perfect for two - and we really enjoyed waking up to see deer grazing next to the driveway and having our coffee down by the pond. I really have zero complaints. We didn't want to leave and would 100% come back again.
Just a heads up for those who need firm mattresses: the mattress on the bed is extremely soft, so you may want to bring your own firm pillows or plan to sleep on the futon. I thought it was comfy, but my husband had a tough time sleeping on it due to some neck problems.

Sweet little cabin and great pond!
We loved the sweet little cabin and enjoyed the hot tub! Also the outside activities were awesome! Loved fishing at the pond, the trails to walk, the fire pits, they were all great! Only complaint, ANTS! The kitchen definitely needs to be sprayed for ants, we were constantly fighting them. I know we were in the woods, but this was not a “woods” issue, the kitchen in the cabin definitely needs to be sprayed for ants!

We're glad you enjoyed the many activities on the property! We wish we had known about the ants during your stay so we could have taken care of this for you. We treated for this right away after the housekeeper let us know.

The cabin is homey and has everything needed. The grounds are beautiful.
We were on the property 3 days. We enjoyed the cabin and hot tub. We were attending a nearby festival so we didn’t take advantage of trails or the pond. It was comfortable on hot days. It is well supplied. Going up the driveway is a challenge and we took it twice a day. The host is helpful and could respond quickly.

About the host
Hosted by Leah & Wes
We’ve put a lot of care into maintaining Fern Rock as a place where guests can slow down, enjoy the outdoors, and spend quality time together. We’re available if anything comes up and want your stay to feel easy and comfortable from start to finish.
Why they chose this property
Fern Rock stands out for its rare combination of privacy, space, and access to the natural beauty of the mountains. Set on 16 wooded acres, it offers a level of seclusion that’s hard to find, while still being within driving distance of Hot Springs and the surrounding trails.
What makes this area special is how immersive it feels. You’re surrounded by forest, mountain views, and the sounds of nature, with space to explore right on the property, including walking trails and a spring-fed pond.
At the same time, you’re close enough to enjoy the winding drive along Highway 209 (The Rattler) and everything the Hot Springs area has to offer, from hiking to exploring the local town.
It’s a place that makes it easy to slow down, spend time outdoors, and enjoy being together without distractions.
What makes this property unique
The smell of fresh pine, views of mountain ranges older than the Rockies, and a sky full of stars set the tone—but what truly makes Fern Rock unique is the space and privacy it offers.
Set on 16 private acres with a full lodge and separate treetop porch, the property gives your group room to spread out, explore, and enjoy time together in a way that’s hard to find.
From walking trails and a spring-fed pond to multiple outdoor gathering spaces, it’s a setting that feels both expansive and connected to nature.
