St Christopher Triplex -Corner House

Converted from a church to a home. This historic property is the Perfect place to house traveling workers or a family.
Centrally located in Ingleside, Tx between Portland and Port Aransas. Perfect location for coming in town to work at nearby plants or getting some beach time. Plenty of room for your boat or big trucks and all of your family or friends for an affordable trip to the coast.
** Absolutely no animals allowed due to the proximity of the adjoining units.

The space
Located near downtown Ingleside, which is about 15 minutes from the ferry. This is a 3 bed, 2 bath unit that is part of a triplex. All entrances are completely separate from the other units though. The exterior is not attractive, please don't judge this book by the cover. If you like the spaciousness and price, you will find that the siding doesn't matter.
The unit is undergoing an external remodel but the inside is comfortable and you’ll feel more at home than a hotel and won’t be interacting with people sharing the kitchen. Safe, quiet area where you won’t have to worry about your vehicle overnight or while you’re in the beach.

Other things to note
We are 9 miles from the ferry, approx a 15 min drive. Also a 15 min drive to Rockport. A good 25 min drive to North Beach. For your best beach experience I'd recommend you check out the city visitor center.
TheTV is a smart TV and we’ve supplied some dvds. You can bring your Firestick or Roku, there are ports on the TV.
This place is not attractive on the exterior, we chose to focus on the structure being sound and the interior being comfortable.
Give the place a chance; the building was originally a church that was converted into homes for the community.

A semi-precious gem
This place has a lot going for it. If it were mine, I’d invest in 4-6” bed toppers, (master bedroom first), change out the burned/rusted through drip pans on the stove, use easy off to clear the cooked on spill on the range top around the front left burner and get updated pots and pans. The place sleeps six, but only has seats for four at the dining table. As retired handy-people, we see the potential and hope the owner is able to follow through with the intended improvements. Dropping the ceiling by the width of a 2x4 and covering the ceiling tiles would make a big difference in the energy bill and esthetics. The shape the floors are in made it easy to not feel awful about coming in sandy. We didn’t know which unit we had, and thinking the owner left the porch light on for us to the main unit, we walked in on a guest watching tv. (Ooops!😃, sorry if that was you!) All in all it was a fine landing pad and launch site for our coast vaycay. The best thing we felt it had going for it (beside the location, location, location !) is there are no shared bedroom walls. The teenagers were very glad for the DVD collection! We’d book this place again, and would gladly pay a higher nightly fee to see other guests commenting on improvements getting squared away.

Like on site says give us a chance. House basic and perfect for us. Only needed mostly to sleep. Had so many things to do we would leave early and get home late.

We are a married couple that are managing this rental triplex. We aren't beach people but make sure we visit at least 3 times a year. We are hoping to offer a peaceful and private experience for every guest so they are comfortable with their freedom to come and go as they please just like they are at home. This unit is affordably priced to compete with local hotels so we can offer an alternative stay for large families, friends that want to get away together, and workers needing to share space for extended stays. We are open to suggestions to making your stay more comfortable and we are trying to balance a hospitable experience with modest pricing. Pardon our mess - we are constantly improving and remodeling to beautify this 50 yr old converted church. It takes time to restore and revitalize but we try to keep the construction between visits!

Why they chose this property

This property has history! It was originally the Ingleside Spanish Church, formed 50 years ago and the old preachers house is the updated, smaller brick house next door. The church had moved location so this unit was modified to be affordable housing in the area until the city started developing other options. The main chapel was located in what was the unit in front. The baptismal tub is still located in this unit, between the walls. You will not find a more peaceful place to rest your head in the Coastal Bend!

What makes this property unique

While we don't offer updated furniture for style, we tried to furnish with comfortable and practical pieces that can not only withstand hard working guests but also the weary beach visitors that want to relax without worry of damaging the furnishings. We are aware that the exterior would make anyone assume this place is located next to a bus station, however you have our promise that this is not the case inside. We like to refer to the exterior as our "safety measure" because it doesn't warrant a desire to break in for valuables! Our cleaning protocol did not start with the pandemic and will not end with it either. We thoroughly sanitize every surface, all bedding is changed between guests and stray hair in the bathroom is simply unacceptable.
