Located on a Golden Sandy Beach Cove, we are direct Ocean & Cove front. A rare find, one of the few where sea turtles rest daily. You can see the beach & turtles from the kitchen windows, Relax in the shade of palms or swim in the cove with the turtles. A great place to enjoy the Hawaiian sunsets, in fact the point we are on is known as Sunset Point. The comfy/clean 3 bedroom 1-1/2 bath cottage is perfect for 1-3 couples or small families to enjoy the sights and sounds of the Ocean & visit the island Of Oahu. The home living areas have been remodeled in April of 2018 and has now been painted and has new windows, Air Conditioners in main living areas as well as new ceiling fans in each bedroom.

Still close enough to Waikiki for a day trip, but far enough away to see the 'real Hawaii'. Amenities on site are kayaks, Stand up paddleboards and Boogie boards. The home is our personal weekend getaway so we keep it well stocked with all the conveniences of home.
We have fish ponds and tiki's to enjoy but of course the ocean & sunsets are the main focal point for all who visit. Tiki torches are available to create the ambiance of old Hawaii and you are far from street noise so the ocean will rock you to sleep and the birds will wake you in the morning. Many have called it paradise on earth and repeat visitors are very important to us. Many return year after year and book multiple years in advance.

This location is amazing for anyone wanting to get away from the typical tourist crush. Spacious and comfortable with access to the beach that can not be beat. It feels like home as soon as you walk in and it's a fantastic place to decompress.

Spectacular Sunsets!

Place is exactly as described, right on the beach and saw turtles everyday! A little ways away from tourist attractions so you do have to drive, but absolutely worth it! Would stay here again for sure. Tom always checked in on us to make sure we had everything we needed and the place had plenty of ocean toys to use right there 🙂!

We loved it!

This is our third stay here and we intend to return. On a small beach where turtles regularly sun themselves. Fenced yard great for kids and watching the sunset. Very comfortable house with nice openj floor plan. Ocean views to die for.

My perfect Hawaii

This place has everything I was hoping for when I planned my vacation to Hawaii. A house that is comfortable, has a feel of individual character that you can immediately settle into as if you were home. And this is not the best feature. The location right on a small neighborhood beach is the best and the views of the ocean and sunsets from the front lanai are the best I have ever experienced.

Great family vacation rental!

My family recently stayed at this home for a week (wish it would have been longer). The pictures and description of the home were accurate and Tom was so easy to work with and made us feel very welcome! We brought our 3 children (ages 19, 15, & 6) and we made ourselves right at home. We ate all of our meals together on the lanai to enjoy the fabulous view! The kitchen had everything we needed and loved having a washer & dryer! The house was stocked with every kind of equipment and toys that you would need for any water activities! The beach access was so convenient and the cove was a great snorkeling spot for the husband and kids! We loved seeing the turtles that would come and rest on our beach. We would definitely rent this home again!! Thank you again Tom!

Love our home away from home!!!

You did it again Tom!! This is our 3rd time at "Back in Time" and as usual I and my family LOVED IT. The house is always inviting, the turtles were there, and the sunsets beautiful, beautiful. Deb and I spent the first four days by ourselves before the rest of the family got there and we called it our second honey moon. Spent many days on the beach, water, and just laying on lawn chairs looking at the waves, which by the way were great during the full moon. Every toy we wanted was right there to play in water and just kick back was available. The house is clean and has everything you need to just LIVE. The locals are great and always friendly. We will be back as many times as we can get away. You need to relax, regroup on life, learn to love again, this is the place to go! Thanks again Tom for a awesome place to come and enjoy life. Taken aback by Back in Time

Our overall experience at this home was good, the photos and description were accurate and the accomodation suited our family needs fine. What the photos don't show you is the lack of cleanliness and property maintenance that we encountered upon arrival. The house is the owner's beach house when it is not rented and that is very evident by the amount of their personal clothing, toiletries, and food in every cupboard and closet. The floors and carpets had not been swept or cleaned for a good long time, this was evident when you would move a carpet or item of furniture and there was a large build up of sand and misc items under or around it. The bathroom and fridge were left in far from clean condition-"guy clean" as the owner put it when we were being shown the accomodation. We spent the first day of our vacation cleaning so that we could feel comfortable for the remainder of our stay. Tom said he is the housekeeper and admitted that he hates to clean so he should consider having it cleaned professionally after each guest, I would sooner pay a reasonable cleaning fee than have to spend our first and last day there cleaning. We are timeshare owners and when we leave our resorts booked through that we simply have to ensure that the garbage is out and the dishes are in the dishwasher. Once our initial clean was done we enjoyed many things about this spot, the fenced yard was a bonus as we had a two year old with us and felt comfortable letting her go outside without constant supervision, the location of the beach from the house was convenient and the guys were able to experience and enjoy snorkeling and swimming with the turtles. A drawback to the location is that the beach has two public accesses to it with homes on either side of the walk path, there are NUMEROUS neighbourhood dogs that bark constantly when someone is walking down to the beach and this happens day and night. Tom has no control over this but it definitely is an annoyance particularly in the middle of the night when one dog can get the whole neighbourhood of dogs barking at the same time. Makaha has little in the way of amenities. Shopping and dining out is about a 1/2 hour away but the drive to the closest major shopping mall can be long and trying due to the traffic. Guests staying here will require a vehicle in order to enjoy the quieter location of this home.

Best View in Makaha !!!

This house is located on a beautiful cove with amazing sunsets an abundance of sea life. We were able to see pacific green turtles and schools of fish almost everyday and the snorkeling in the cove was fantastic too! The house is cozy with all amenities you’ll need for an extended stay. Tom stocks the house with plenty of towels, toilet paper and cleaning supplies which is nice so his guests don’t have to worry about buying them while there. There is also a ton of water toys, ranging from kayaks, boogie boards, snorkels and fins to surfboards. The house is situated in a quiet neighborhood with shopping and restaurants not too far away. Tom checked in with us often to make sure we didn’t need anything and would bring us papayas and avocados from his mountain property. They were so delicious. Overall it was a great experience and we have rebooked another stay at this lovely location.

Location!!!

Love the quiet side of the island. The house has everything you need for comfort and fun. Saw a turtle and people watching in the cove on the weekend was fun. Don't miss end of the road drive and beaches!

Family vacation

The house and property are absolutely amazing. Perfect location. The house has anything you could ask for. Very comfortable living conditions. Tom is a great guy who is always there if you needed him. We loved Bill the duck who would come sit out front at night while we were on the lanai. We saw turtles on the beach every day and a seal one day. We also went through a storm while we were there and had no problems. Amazing views! Will definitely return.

Home away from home

Loved our stay. Tom & Kathy make you feel relaxed and at home from the moment you arrive. Away from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki yet close enough to enjoy all the sights Hawaii has to offer. Enjoyed watching sea turtles on the beach just feet from the house, watching whales pass by out front, and beautiful sunsets from the front yard - who could ask for anything more? How about a Koi pond and a resident duck named Bill. Mahalo Tom & Kathy for a wonderful vacation!

We loved everything about Tom's property. He has an awesome set up! We miss his place. Fully stocked home close to the best little beaches with turtles and waves!!! All the water toys you need from boogie boards to surf boards and paddle boards. Even a cute little rare duck who my husband and kids loved to feed every morning. Awesome View and Sunsets

The views from the porch and the backyard was were very beautiful and having access to the beach was a big plus. The duck named Bill who resides by the Choi pond was an interesting character. My family did enjoy the stay overall, we just wish that it would have been a little bit cleaner. The house was nicely redone inside and it worked for us having the 3 bedrooms and sofa bed. The kitchen has everything you need and the outside shower was really nice to use after you hang out at the beach.

Beautiful location and friendly owner.

Tom met us at the property to show us a few things. Home was bigger than I expected with everything we needed. Lots of water toys, great backyard for morning coffee and of course, the resident duck, Bill. Our 22 year old daughter already misses him. We saw many turtles and one seal at our stay on the beach. It was very close to many things, thank you so much.

Perfect ... as good as if not better than advertised .

My family has stayed at Makaha back in time for 4 yrs in a row. We already booked a month in 2019 too. We love everything about this place. The town, the cove , the neighbors as well as the house we call our second home. Tom is a great Landlord, and the house is perfect for families. I hate to shine a bright light on this Gem (selfish I know) but it really is heaven on earth...

Amazing dramatic coastline views

Overall the best location on the islands with views that change every minute. While the feeling your in a far away place called "paradise" is present from morning coffee to sunset its a feeling not found elsewhere on Earth. We did not even turn on the air conditioners as the trade winds kept the home fresh & cool. The kids did not want to leave because who is going to feed the Duck & fish at the Koi pond. Best in class award for this one.
