About this property

Peaceful Creekside Retreat at the foot of Mt. Mitchell!

You will fall in love with this log cabin. We did! We were on vacation in the mountains of western North Carolina and found ourselves mesmerized by the South Toe River area. So much so, that we immediately bought The Log Cabin on Neil's Creek upon our departure. It's surrounded by towering Carolina Hemlocks and soft beds of moss. The creek, just off of the back covered porch, can be heard from all rooms of the cabin. The creek is a North Carolina wild trout stream and is filled with Rainbow and Brown Trout. Being in the Pisgah National Forest, you are sure to see some native wildlife, maybe even a black bear. There are an abundance of hiking trails that are walking distance from the cabin varying in difficulty including the Mt. Mitchell trail. Mt. Mitchell is the highest peak east of the Mississippi.
There is a beautiful golf course only a five minute drive away.
The cabin is spacious with an open floor plan, large kitchen and bedrooms. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes, pots and pans. There is a full size washer and dryer in the bathroom. There are plenty of board games and puzzles to keep you occupied if you choose to stay in. All of the interior walls are a gorgeous, natural wood. It is very much a cozy home away from home.

As per VRBO guidelines, we must disclose that there is a camera that views the driveway and the side of the cabin towards the forest for hopeful wildlife sightings.

We are an adventure loving couple that fell in love with the North Carolina mountains. We had been busy traveling the world until Covid hit. Fortunately, it forced us to explore our own backyard here in the US and we are so glad that it did! We discovered such a little gem with this cabin and area and we are excited to share it with you!

Why they chose this property

The smell of the rainforest, the glimpse of sunlight peaking through the towering Carolina Hemlocks, the thundering sound of the creek in the back yard, the cool summer air, the peace that all of this brings.

What makes this property unique

The cabin is in a National Forest, yet on private land. There are at least 7 marked trails that are within walking distance of the cabin. The creek in the backyard is a designated wild trout stream where you can fish. The South Toe River fishing access point is a two minute walk or you can wade through the creek to the river.
