About this property

Perfect Cozy Vacation Rental on the Eastern Shore

Located on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. The Lodge was once a thriving motel located in the quaint seaside village of Cheriton. The lodge offers a simple, clean, convenient vacation rental for families, fishing buddies, hunters, weekend away and anyone who just wants a break from life. The Chesapeake Bay beaches are within a 6 mile radius of our Lodge and The Atlantic Ocean is accessible by public boat ramps in the area. A day trip either north or south offers lots of activities to do. The short trip across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel will have you arriving in Virginia Beach...the Norfolk Zoo is 41 miles from here! Virginia Beach offers the "OceanFront" where you can go to the beach, dine, and shop all within the same area.

North of us the the waterfront village of Onancock with a great shopping experience of small town shopping. You can also catch the ferry to Tangier Island to take a step back into time and visit a true "Waterman's Village" But be prepared to walk or rent a golf cart as there are no cars on Tangier Island.

Don't forget our local State Park: Kiptopeke! There is beachfront for a day in the sun. A fishing pier for your favorite fisherman. And a view of the "Concrete Ships" a marvel in themselves. There are lots of walking trails through out the park and lots of friendly faces to help you with any questions!

Fishing on the Eastern Shore is world-class so bring your boat, we have plenty of room to park your boat and a list of local public boat ramps to launch from whether you want bayside fishing or seaside fishing.

At the end of the day, come on in and relax in your apartment, with a very large kitchen with all the cooking implements you will need and lots of storage. A hot shower in the large bathrooms and a comfy bed await the end of your day.

My family grew up on the Eastern Shore so I’m familiar with the area. Would’ve been nice to have functioning tvs and antenna in both bedrooms because you can’t watch tv without it or updated tv so I could have used my fire stick. Walls are thin so you could hear guest in neighboring unit so tv would have drowned out their loud voices.

Very average property, definitely not an 8.4 score. Pros: good location, quiet, close to the beach, everything in working condition Cons: everything is old and cheap. Mattresses are torn and with no protection. Found a bug in one of the beds, didn't get a good look, but hopefully not a bed bug. Utensils were washed but greasy to touch (very old plastic), toilet paper was thinner than in public restrooms. Couch had lots of pet hair. No grill as was advertised.

Much better than anticipated!

I was on the fence with this place for a couple reasons. It wasn’t quite in the location we were looking for and it seemed a bit outdated/small.. but for what we needed, we made it work. When we got there, the owner pulled in right behind which was helpful and he was very friendly. Although the ‘apartment’ is in the same building as a couple other units, it is surprisingly big. It had also been recently renovated (and looks nothing like any of the pictures). It is a lot better! It has a decent yard, grill free to use, a little porch, as well as a washer and dryer. Which we thought was outstanding, especially with kids. Other reviews had stated there is a trailer behind the unit (which is accurate) but that is a rental and he stores boats as well. But this unit is unkept and nice! Also multiple beautiful beaches within 15 min drive. I was very happy with our decision and if we’re ever back in the area would 100% stay here again.

The entrance right into the bed, a mere foot from the door with the mop and cleaning supplies to the right of the door did not give a great first welcoming. The smells indicated either mustiness or seafood in the fridge or both.Yes there were air freshener candles but, deep cleaning may be best to get to the root of it. The WiFi was not correct-the links that popped up were not in sync w/what was in the binder of info. When reached out to property manager for both entry inquiry and wifi, he was not quick to respond. Finally calling him, his wifi knowledge was incorrect. I feel if you all update the inside, clean, and fix wall (perhaps coming apart due to salt air?), along with fresh paint, you could rock this place as the proximity to Cape Charles sites is great. Otherwise, not too bad.The price was right comparitively.

Do not stay here!!!

When my children and I arrived to check in, we walked into what looked like a lived in unit. There was food on the counters, in the freezer, and in the fridge. There was also a dead mouse in a mouse trap on the floor. After seeing all of this, we did not feel comfortable staying at this rental. I contacted the property manager with pictures of these issues and she apologized and said she would send me a refund on Monday when she "got back into town". Monday came and went with no contact from her, and no refund. I will be disputing this charge with my credit card company. Secondly, the area is very shady. What you don't see in the pictures is a dilapidated single wide trailer in the backyard and shop building next door with lots of boats and other items parked around the property. As a woman, I did not feel safe and especially not having my kids there. We spent over an hour looking for another place to stay and finally settled on a hotel room 30 minutes away.

Great place unprofessional host.

The place was very nice and as expected. However when I arrived at the property at the designated check in time and the management building was closed. I called and texted the owner to no avail. Finally just walked into one of the units that looked empty and had keys on the table. The place was nice but I sent the owner multiple texts and called several times and never got a response the entire 4 days we were there. If there was any kind of emergency or issue we would have just been sol because there was zero way to contact the owner.

A perfect Oasis

One word: Tranquil--Great place, away from the busy surroundings but close enough, about a 1-minute drive to Historic Downtown where all the shops, restaurants and beach were. Super clean and excellent host. Will definitely return.

It is a nice remote spot

We came to the area for a wedding. This place was close to the venue up rt 13 so it made for a quick commute. The place was clean. There was a nice deck to hangout. There seems to be some confusion on how to get to the place. It is just down the dirt road and the units are labeled. The TV had good cable so we could watch some football.

Family Vacation

Our stay was very nice.. the location did throw me off being no helpful pictures but once we figured it out everything from there was very nice. Very peaceful, and very homey feeling there. My only complaint would be to update the cell numbers/names on the booking sites. Would definitely stay and recommend to friends/family :)

It was a rural unsettling area with 4 units attached units ABCD not mentioned in discription of property & no picture of exterior of building. Very primitive Glad my husband was there or I Would have felt unsafe… interior even more dated that photos on website …
