Charming Cottage located on a quiet private lane. A great " in town" location. Perfect for walking or biking to Main Street and Maddox Blvd. activities, shops and eateries. A short drive to the beach and marina areas. This home will pleasantly surprise you! New owner has Carbon coconut filter on ceiling fan in bonus room, portable air purifier and plug-in CLARiiON air purifiers. Offering a large deck, and grill and spacious sunroom to relax and enjoy your visit. With this house as well as beach chairs and an umbrella. Hypoallergenic linens, towels provided, all pillows (bed pillows and decorative pillows), tissues and toilet paper.

Cancellations made 30 days prior to arrival will receive 100% of refund of all monies minus $ 39 Processing Fee and Any Credit Card Convenience Fees Paid.  If less, then 30 days: the advanced rent is only refundable subject to the following: The property is re-rented for the same period. Re-rental of less than a full week will be refunded on a pro-rated basis. The Agent will retain a $39.00 processing charge and any convenience fees charged. *Deposits are not refunded for ANY reason (including bad weather).

Cattail Cottage

This charming, coastal themed cottage was conveniently located to Assateague Island, Wallops Island, and Chincoteague! It was clean, gave abundant information on the area, and in a quiet location. My husband and I enjoyed our stay at our home away from home for a reasonable price!

Neat, clean, cozy, with a coastal vibe. Just the right size for the 2 of us, although there's enough room for a few more people if needed. Close to shops, the National Park, beach. Wonderful to have the outside shower to ride one or sand before going into the cottage. Grateful for the air condition units.

Practically Perfect In Every Way

The cottage was depicted online as it was experienced in reality. The management company was a blessing when a couple of glitches came up. The cleanliness and location were great. Thanks for a great get away.

Reviewer Comments: We found Cattail Cottage to be spotlessly clean and comfortable with added features such as an outdoor shower with both hot and cold water; hypoallergenic linens, pillows and paper products; and a lovely outdoor deck to sit on and enjoy a meal or your morning coffee!Its central location is ideal; it’s only a 4-mile drive to the beach and a 10-minute walk to Island Creamery to get ice cream.We look forward to returning in the future!

Just Right

The property is well maintained and in process of getting a metal roof. Looks like it was paused for our stay. The amenities were great for our visit. The location is quiet and very convenient to shopping, restaurants, Assateague Island for hiking and bird watching and to the Curtis Merritt Harbor for boat excursions and to Memorial park for kayak launching.

The harbor checking stated 2 queen beds, but one was a king. Also misleading weather linnens & towels are included or need to bring your own. Everything else was great!’

A good friend stayed with me, and the set up with the new bathroom was ideal in that we did not disturb each other. I slept on the pull out sofa in the back room and was able to spread out my work on the table and work at my computer without disturbing Jane who slept in the bed room. I love everything about this cottage!!!

The rehab of the original cottage is tight and solidly accomplished and the resultant living space is practical and accommodating. The appliances and amenities provided are perfectly adequate. An exterior keyed lock on the sliding side door would be a useful addition. The neighborhood is quiet and private. The owner's passion for the ponies is evident and centers one's visit on Chincoteague Island life. The cattails were in prodigious display this year.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Stayed here in Jan of 2022 before the renovation which was so beautifully done! Love the barn door and the vanity with all the storage. Love being able to spread out on the the big table to work. Being able to walk to town and to Maddox in a few minutes is a huge plus. Love the cottage furnishings and all the little finishes which makes it so homey and welcoming.The only suggestion I have, which I mentioned after last stay, was to have a light installed over the sink so that you are not in shadow when working at sink or counters.

Reviewer Comments: So cozy and well-furnished and decorated. Love the sleeping options and the back room with all the light and the large table. Lots of storage space despite not having closet available. Nice out of the way location on Grumpy's Lane. Pleased that owners will be putting in second full bathroom and washer/dryer. The kitchen needs a light over the sink and counters since fixture is in middle of ceiling and throws shadows.

Bad air conditioning

This rental included air conditioning in the description. I would not book a rental without it. The air conditioner did not work properly The fan part blew air but it did not cool the house at all. Sleeping was very uncomfortable and made our vacation unpleasant. We made several calls and were told it would be resolved but was not. I definitely do not recommend this rental and suggest Harbor Rentals and VRBO not contract with this owner again. I have used VRBO several times in the past and was always pleased with our vacation homes and their owners.
