Enjoy some peace and quiet by escaping to the Cinnabar Canyon House, tucked in the Gallatin Mountain Range and only 12 miles from the northern entrance to Yellowstone National Park. The four miles of dirt road and private driveway guarantee complete privacy to truly get away from it all.
The home boasts a large manicured lawn with a kids' playhouse and basketball court, all safely contained by high fences to keep children safe from resident wildlife such as elk, deer, and big horn sheep. The wrap-around wood deck and shaded cement patio overlook the Cinnabar Canyon mountains and are well equipped with ample and comfortable outdoor seating for dining and lounging. We do not have AC but there are fans in every bedroom and ceiling fans in the great room. To keep the house cool, open the windows at night and shut them first thing in the morning.
Just inside the front door under the covered welcome porch is a spacious open floor plan with the fully stocked kitchen and spacious living room. Between the dining room table and breakfast bar, it’s easy to seat all guests inside for shared meals. There are two queen bedrooms and one full bathroom with a washer and dryer unit. The glass door leading to the upper deck has a wraparound deck with additional outdoor seating as well as a BBQ.
The downstairs has a large master king bedroom with a private entrance to the lawn and shaded cement patio seating area, a kid’s play room, full bathroom, and a dorm style bunk room with two sets of twin bunk beds, a twin with a trundle bed as well as a stand-alone twin bed.
Although it’s a rural neighborhood, there is plenty to do. The former owners of Canyon House live nearby and have a fully operational outfitting business (Wilderness Connection) that offers horseback rides, white-water rafting, and zip lining. Historic Gardiner, the only year-round entrance to Yellowstone Park, is a short 20 minutes away. A step back in time to the Old West, Gardiner’s main street has restaurants, art galleries, gift shops, gas stations, a grocery store and a small pharmacy.
The Yellowstone River is 4 miles away and is the longest undammed river in the continental US with fantastic trout fishing and white-water rafting. You must purchase a fishing license to fish there. It's easy to fish from the banks, only minutes from the house, or hire a guide to take 1-2 anglers via drift boat. Guides provide shuttles, all fly-fishing gear including rods, reels, and flies, as well as lunch and instruction. A perfect experience for novice or expert fishing folks. The river also offers exciting white-water rafting for the thrill-seekers in your crowd (or tubing for the mellower ones).
Yellowstone National Park, about 20 minutes away, features world-famous geysers, abundant wildlife, and landscapes of stunning beauty. You can explore on your own or take advantage of superb wildlife tours.
Other nearby attractions include the newly built Yellowstone Hot Springs, just 4miles away on the Yellowstone River before at the intersection of Corwin Road and highway 89. The wonderful Chico Hot Springs is a short 20 minute drive north. There are three yearly rodeos during the summer. The first is in June in Gardiner, the second is over the 4th of July in Livingston and the final is the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) which takes place late July or early August. Getting tickets in advance is highly recommended.
The Cinnabar Canyon House is the perfect basecamp for your southwest Montana vacation!

Everything from the secluded location to the house and amenities was amazing! Great communication throughout the process! We had a wonderful stay. Thank you so much. Highly recommend!
Very quiet mountain cabin that is very well stocked with everything from kitchen supplies to books and inside/outdoor games, great recommendations on activities, comfortable beds and close enough to Yellowstone.

We absolutely loved our time at Canyon House. The scenery right outside the doors was breathtaking, and the home was fully stocked with everything for our family - dishes, cups, kitchen appliances, shampoo, conditioner, towels, sheets/blankets for ALL the beds, and so much more! We enjoyed relaxing on the deck, as well as playing basketball and using the swingset. It also made a great base camp for our Yellowstone adventures. We would definitely recommend this place for any family looking for a spot to stay in the Yellowstone area!

A truly great property and experience. The house had all the amenities we could want and the communication was amazing! Its a short drive to Gardiner and easy access to Yellowstone. Would recommend and would consider staying again. Thanks!
It was a comfortable place to stay with three generations of family! The kitchen was a nice size and well equipped. We loved the large balcony with the Mountain View’s.The only negative for us was that the home was a little more remote than we thought. It was winding one lane dirt road that takes you to the property. You are about 30 minutes to Gardiner and about 40 minutes from the North gate to Yellowstone.

Arcema and her crew are welcome back any time! It was easy hosting them.
The place fit perfect for the 8 adults. So nice to have upstairs & downstairs patios to enjoy the views. Just note the last mile is a small gravel road. But, it was so pretty winding around with the river.

Canyon House was the perfect base for our Yellowstone adventures. They thought of everyone, from the youngest to the oldest family member. The house was wonderful. Tanya provided accurate and timely information and assisted with some items accidentally left behind. If ever in the area again, I wouldn’t hesitate to come back. Highly recommended! Thank you for the hospitality!

Thank you for staying with us, Catherine! We are so happy you enjoyed your time at the Canyon House!
One of the best short term rentals we have ever stayed at. It had everything we needed and more. Extremely well stocked kitchen/pantry and plenty to keep us busy with equipment for every sport, games, DVDs and books. We appreciated the bear spray, sunscreen, and bug spray as well as generous towels and bedding. We spent a lot of time outside enjoying meals on the deck and soaking in the views. We stayed with our four kids ages 12-17 and there was plenty of space to spread out. It’s a short 20 minute drive to Gardiner. Hope to be back soon!

We hope to host you again soon, Rebecca! Thank you for staying with us.
We had a wonderful stay at the Canyon House. Plenty of space for everyone (10 total people). The property is just as beautiful and scenic as Yellowstone itself. My one and only issue would be that there was a lot of condiments and open jars of things left in the fridge which took up a lot of space. Besides that, everything was well appointed and taken care of.

This was a perfect place for our group of 6 to stay while doing training in Yellowstone. The house was further from the park than we are used to but the short commute was enjoyable and relaxing, allowing for some productive work (and non-work) talk. The location is a nice distance off the beaten path. The house itself was super accommodating for our group. The bunk room worked out great. Several co-workers mentioned the house would be perfect for their families. Despite no cell service, the wi-fi works great. Host was very welcoming and accommodating. Hoping to stay here again next time we are back.

Thanks for staying with us, William! Hope to host you for your next Yellowstone training.
The cabin is in a beautiful and secluded area but it is near Gardiner and the north entrance to Yellowstone making it a great base camp for a trip to the park. The home is fully stocked with all the amenities you need in the kitchen, bathrooms and bedrooms. There is also high speed wifi and a play area indoors and outdoors in the fully fenced yard. There is no AC but the house stayed cool in July with the windows open at night and provided fans. I would definitely stay here again. The host was great at communicating and responding to our questions. Check in and checkout were very easy. This is the perfect Yellowstone base camp for families.

Obtain all instructions prior to the start of your trip
Ensure you have all codes/instructions etc. prior to arrival. There’s no wifi available until you check in, therefore, no access to internet.
Otherwise, home is large, can accommodate 13-15 easily.

We sent all information to the house except the front door code! It was my fault. Luckily I was able to help her gain access to the house within minutes of realizing what happened so Kimberly and her crew didn't have to wait too long to get inside, maybe 10 minutes. I send WiFi information as well as a check in code prior to arrival and I'm embarrassed this check in was not more smooth! We hope to host them again soon!
This house is so cute and well set up for families with children. Tons of toys and pack n plays and bunk beds helped so much with the kids. The kitchen was well stocked and so many extra towels in the bathrooms. The yard is fenced and has tons of space for kids to run around with basketball court and playhouse. The house is a bit remote which was nice and about 25 min north of gardiner and the north entrance of Yellowstone park. It’s very close to the Yellowstone river for fly fishing. There was a minor miscommunication upon check in but was rectified and we were reimbursed a bit to accommodate. Tanya was great to use as a resource for local activities and helped us get to a spot to see a grizzly bear. Would recommend!
