Enjoy the relaxing sounds of the waterfall across from the cabin that flows year-round and the Yellowstone River as it meanders past the Bison Hallow. Located only 300 yards from the border to Yellowstone National Park and 4.5 miles from the town of Gardiner/the Roosevelt Arch at the north entrance. The spacious patio offers a beautiful setting to take in the mountain views while reminiscing about the days adventures. With a gas grill and seating for all 8 - it is the perfect place to establish base camp for your Yellowstone vacation.
The cabin has two bedrooms with 4 commercial queen beds. Each bedroom has a private ensuite (full) bathroom. The Bison Hallow is cozy and beautifully decorated with a theme honoring the great American icon, the Sacred Bison.
Each year Yellowstone National Park culls up to 900 bison – this sad event (which involves treaty rights) allows men to line up on the road, shoot entire herds – even heavily pregnant females that are ready to drop newborn calves within 30-120 days. If you chose to walk the field cross the gravel road – please carry bear spray and pay your respects to the fallen. You’ll find several bones in the bison graveyard….
We do occasionally see bears, mountain lions, wolves, bison and rattlesnakes on the property and we frequently have deer and elk - especially in the spring and fall. The property does have exterior cameras to for the protection and safety of our property and guests. Many times the elk will eat right outside the patio and bed down for the day. Please do not approach or feed any of the wildlife. You should always maintain 25 yards distance between elk, deer & bison and 100 yards from bears, wolves and mountain lions.

Great location off the beaten path and away from all the tourist. Elk and pronghorn hung out near the cabin. I should have booked a longer stay but I will next time I stay here

It was great connecting with you during your stay and we appreciate the care you took with the cabin. Would love to have you back in the future.
Very comfortable and quiet, perfect after a long day in Yellowstone. The back patio with river view was really relaxing. Watching elk swim the river was a bonus! Kitchen well stocked with anything we could want. The ice coolers and bear spray was appreciated as well.

The elk are simply amazing to watch and I've only seen them swim that area of the river a few times - so you were incredibly fortunate to witness such a magical time. I love you had that experience! Thankyou for talking great care of the cabin and we would welcome you back in the future!
Our family of 6 had a great time staying here. The cabin is rustic but the location is unbeatable, right by the river, and our kids loved walking down to play in the water and watch the whitewater rafters float by. We rafted and ended up going right by the house. Easy access to Yellowstone and Gardiner shops and food... after you get past the unpaved road. We would stay here again!

Thank you so much for choosing to stay at the Bison Hallow. I'm happy your kids had a wonderful time and that they were able to swim in the river. I would not always recommend it as the current can be dangerous at times of the year - depending on recent rainfall, snowmelt and changing currents. The rafting past the cabins is super fun - especially if you have grandparents that stay back at the cabin - they can watch you travel past. :) We appreciate the care you took with the cabin and invite you back in the future.
The house is in the perfect place to stay for your Yellowstone adventure. A beautiful view of the river and mountains. Enjoy relaxing outside on the back porch abd watch the rafters go by.

Love that you enjoyed your stay at the cabin and relaxing on the patio is an absolute favorite. There are days we get up and start the day with coffee on the patio and really never leave it. Would welcome you back in the future.
This cabin's location is perfect if you will be traveling into the park each day. (And if not, it's a beautiful, peaceful spot to spend the time) It was very clean, nicely decorated and cozy on the river. We had elk outside a couple nights. Great for star gazing. Lots of places to eat out nearby. Grocery store just minutes away. Check in & check out were smooth. The kitchen has everything we needed. Thanks again!
Beautiful area with the Yellowstone river right in the backyard. We could watch the rafters go by. It was great having 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The only thing is there’s a lot of rules here and you have to take your garbage with you!!

You do have to take your trash as nobody in the county has trash service. This is a benefit of living in grizzly country - which we prefer. :)
So happy you enjoyed your time at the Bison Hallow. It was a pleasure meeting you and would love to have you back in the future. Thank you for leaving the cabin in excellent condition and the beautiful flowers!! It was a really special treat!
Perfect for families!! We are a family of 7 and enjoyed the space and room. They have a smart tv in the living room so I was able to connect my netflix and had a movie night with the kids. The AC in both bedrooms works fast and efficient! There are so many pros! This cabin is great if you’re looking to stay in this area! I highly recommend.

Perfect Location next to the hot springs and yellowstone park. Lots of wildlife and the cabin had everything we needed. Gardiner was very expensive to eat out so it was nice to have a kitchen

Thank you so much that really means a lot to me for you to say that!!! We put a lot of time and thought into the theme of our cabin and really hope that translates. We'd love to have you back in the future!
Had a great time at Bison Hallow. Great location. Close enough to Gardner and the park entrance, but far enough away to enjoy the wildlife and great scenery. The cabin had everything we needed and was a quiet place to enjoy our evenings.

About the host
Hosted by The Bison Hallow on the Yellowstone Riverfront
Yellowstone National Park has always held a special place in my heart. I've been visiting the park on an annual basis since 1999 (sometimes several times a year) and each trip is unique and special in its own right.
In 2008, I brought my Dad to Yellowstone over the Thanksgiving holiday and the weather was amazing...cool & crisp. We hiked for several hours every day and had the time of our lives. One morning we set out on an 8-mile hike. It had snowed a couple of inches the previous night and 1/2 mile into the hike we discovered we were following the tracks of a large grizzly bear. For the next 3 miles we walked in the footprints left by the great bear, armed only with bear spray, but never did see the bruin. Seeing my Dad's face light up when he realized the tracks were not very old and that we were not 'alone in the wilderness' was priceless. Because of that trip, I realized I wanted to spend as much time as possible with my Dad, enjoying moments like those while we still had the opportunity. Life is so incredibly short!!!
Then in 2012, my entire family was able to join me in Yellowstone to celebrate my birthday. It was in that moment I decided this is where my heart is and in order to experience more lasting memories with my entire family I needed to have a place for them to call their 'home-away-from-home'.
Together, my Dad & I purchased the grizzly den cabin on the Yellowstone Riverfront as place to relax, watch the wildlife, fish the Yellowstone River and most importantly build more lasting memories. Being able to give my Dad the gift of owning a cabin means so much to me.
As a Vietnam Vet and someone who grew up without modern conveniences (ie: running water & indoor plumbing), owning a cabin was never on his radar. My Dad is the most kind-hearted, caring person I know and he would go the extra mile for those he cares about. Being able to give back to him was a dream come true and helping to make his dreams come true is what life is all about!!”
Why they chose this property
The Bison Hallow is a special cabin in that it offers a unique setting for our guests to be able to enjoy the sounds of the waterfall and the river. There are 3 access points to the river (one in front of this cabin, one near the firepit and one in front of The Grizzly Den cabin - cabin #2). Many times the elk and bison like to nap under the big tree by the river and it is really a treat.
These cabins are close enough to town (4.5 miles from the north entrance - about a 12-15 minute drive down the gravel road) yet far enough away from the crowds of Yellowstone. Even when each of the cabins is booked - guests really feel like they are on a private vacation as everyone keeps to themselves and most people enjoy the quiet, peacefulness of getting back to the cabin after a long day in Yellowstone, grilling out and enjoying the evening on the patio.
We chose this cabin because of the proximity to Yellowstone National Park and the fact that it is located right on the Yellowstone River. We can literally fish right from the banks outside the cabin and grill the fish minutes later while enjoying the evening from the patio...all without leaving the cabin.
We wanted something close to the park but not overly commercialized or populated. This cabin was close, convenient and had the space we needed.
With 2 bedrooms (4 queen beds) and 2 full bathrooms, a full kitchen, dining area, living room and covered patio, we knew our needs were covered. Being able to share this property with others is exciting. Each trip to Yellowstone is different and offers a whole new experience. Whether you are coming for adventure, hiking, sight-seeing, fishing, wildlife viewing or photography this is the place to be!!
It was also important to me that we had a cabin where wildlife were welcome. Occasionally we will have bison, deer or elk in the yard and rarely a grizzly bear.
What makes this property unique
The unique benefits of The Bison Hallow on the Yellowstone Riverfront include the amazing views of Electric Peak, Sepulcher Mountain and the Devils Slide. Located right on the Yellowstone Riverfront our guests are able to fish directly from the banks outside the cabin (depending upon river flow/time of year). You have the wonderful, serene setting watching the sunrise from behind the mountain to the east as it lights up the valley and Sepulcher Mountain.
Get up early to enjoy elk & mule deer grazing just off the patio and sometimes even bison. We can't guarantee they will be there but most guests are fortunate to enjoy their presence at least once throughout their stay.
For those that enjoy walking, the Park boundary is approx 300 yards from the driveway and only 4.5 miles from the North Entrance to YNP at Gardiner.
Enjoy the quite, tranquil setting listening to the Yellowstone River flow by and listen to the waterfall that flows year-round. Watch rafters enjoy the river as they float by the cabin. Fish the Yellowstone River (accessible various times of the year - just feet from the cabin door).
The Bison Hallow cabin is open and available to reserve year-round and we encourage our guests to visit the Yellowstone National Park during different times of the year as each experience offers something new and different.
You will love staying at this Yellowstone cabin known as The Bison Hallow on the Yellowstone Riverfront.
