Our Story: Once upon a time, there was a happy family of 7--A mom, a dad, 3 boys, and 2 girls. Dad, a PE teacher at the local school and CPR instructor on the side, worked hard so that Mom could stay home and homeschool their 5 kids. Dad worked very hard and in his free time (of which there was very little), he loved to do woodworking projects, so he decided to turn the top part of his garage into a woodshop. He would take his kids, and even their friends along with his nieces and nephews, up in the woodshop to make fun projects with wood. He even made some beautiful things for Mom up there. Dad loved his woodshop.
As the years marched on and the kids grew into teenagers and young adults, some of them found girlfriends and boyfriends, and eventually all of the boys ended up getting married. Mom thought she would lose her mind when they all decided to get married within 6 months of each other. She better understood the exclamation, “Oh, boy!”, or “Oh, boys!” as it were. The youngest son, Josh, had fallen for the neighbor girl, Olivia, who lived across Pusey Mill Road. They had known each other since they had been 13, and when they were both 18, Josh asked Olivia to marry him. But where would they live?
Mom and Dad wanted to help Josh and Olivia in any way they could because they loved them both so much. So Dad said, “Hey, why don’t we turn my woodshop into an apartment and rent it to Josh and Olivia until they are able to buy their own house”. Mom, always the skeptic, said it would never work and we would never have enough time to transform it into an apartment. Dad, the eternal optimist, said “We got this!” So in January of 2019, Mom and Dad emptied the woodshop, hired some local Amish builders, and started the transformation. By September 1, 2019, the day of Josh and Olivia’s wedding, the apartment was complete.
In April 2021, Josh and Olivia bought a house. Now what? They moved out in May and by the end of June, Mom and Dad started renting out the apartment to friendly travelers who wanted to visit this beautiful part of Pennsylvania.
End of story? Nope. Remember those two girls? Well, in May of 2021, the oldest daughter got engaged to the man of her dreams and they will be getting married in April of 2021. Guess who will be renting the apartment come next April? Unfortunately, not you--or anyone besides the soon-to-be married couple. So enjoy the few months we will be renting out our old woodshop. See you again when the newlyweds-to-be buy a permanent house!
P.S. The woods on the property served as the reception area for Mom and Dad’s second son’s wedding which was 28 days before Josh and Olivia’s wedding! Oh, boy(s)!
Life is GOOD!
