It was a cozy and comforting place for us to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. The hot tub was amazing and the bed was comfortable. Highly recommend this spot. The weather wasn’t ideal, but still a nice weekend getaway.
This is such a beautifully decorated property inside and out. We had an great relaxing weekend with everything we could need.

Very quiet area with a great view. The screened-in areas are a very nice touch, especially the hot tub. This place definitely exceeded our expectations.
Isolated and romantic. The hot tub had a beautiful sunset view with eagles flying nearby.

The views alone are worth every penny. Great sunset views over the Mississippi both from inside and out. The cabin and outdoor space were plenty spacious for 4 of us and our two dogs. Amazing hiking just down the road, along with fish fry. Would definitely stay again.

Pictures are true to location, amenities and views! We were lucky enough to find a weekend with a snow storm and it was the best place to hunker down and enjoy our time away. Thank you to the management team of Todd and Donna! Thank you Todd for plowing us out and for Donna with great communication and letting us check in early as the snow was arriving sooner than expected.

How delightful to hear you had a "perfect" stay! Sometimes snow storms can ruin a get-away but you made the best of it! We try our best to adapt to what is best for our guests' safety. Thank you so very much for choosing to book with us and for not backing out at the last minute due to weather. We truly appreciate your business!
The Eagle Nest was extremely comfortable, clean and charming. We loved the amazing views, especially while relaxing in the hot tub. We saw a bald eagle fly past as we had early morning coffee around the fire pit. The kitchen had every supply needed to barbecue. We highly recommend!

This vrbo rental is over the top awesome! We would definitely recommend renting this beautiful fun place! Everything you might need is here and more. The view is top notch. Relaxing by a fire and then soaking in the hot tub(which is screened in) made the stay perfect. This is a definite must if you are looking for a place to stay in Ferryville.

Thank you very much! We are super glad you enjoyed your stay. We work pretty hard at providing everything our guests need so it's gratifying when it gets noticed. We appreciate your positive comments and look forward to having you visit again someday!
Owners were great to work with, very responsive. We've stayed at quite a few cabins similar to this and were usually disappointed with things being rundown and broken. Very pleasantly surprised when we arrived...everything was in good working order and very clean. Great views, hot tub was awesome. Woukd definitely recommend.

Wonderful guests! It's heartwarming to get such nice reviews from guests who notice the efforts we put into our properties. We think this cabin is pretty special and the view is spectacular, especially when you get treated to a sunset! Thank you so much for staying and for recommending us. We also have 7 other cabins/houses in the area for you to try on another visit!
The views of the Mississippi are over the top. The huge windows in the sunroom provided a front row seat for sunset watching. The place was perfect for cooking. We made all our dinners here. The appliances and cooking equipment were well stocked. The best part was the easy to use gas fireplace surrounded by cozy chairs and a couch - all very comfortable to overcome the cold weather outside. We would definitely rent this place again.
Oh man, this cabin is a DREAM. Waking up every morning to a stunning view of the Mississippi is definitely a great way to reduce stress. The hot tub is on point, the screened-in patios are really nice, and the cabin itself is in excellent shape. The AC blasts and is really easy to work, and there are all sorts of little nooks in the main area for just hanging out and playing games or reading or otherwise vegging out. One note: there are train tracks just down the hill and it's a busy route, so be prepared for some frequent train noise at night. Fortunately for us, we absolutely love the sound of trains and find it soothing, so this is NOT a complaint, just an FYI if it's not your deal. Overall, we had an amazing time just chilling in the cabin or exploring the area (Effigy Mounds National Monument is a half hour away in Iowa and a MUST if you're into hiking; also very close to Viroqua, Prairie du Chien, and La Crosse). We plan to be back and to bring friends!

Thank you so much for choosing to stay at this special cabin! We try our very best to provide top-notch properties and it's heartwarming when guests notice and enjoy those efforts. Yes, there are trains on both sides of the Mississippi River -- like you, most folks end up barely noticing them. Glad you found so many great opportunities in this beautiful area to check out. Hiking is definitely plentiful all around! We look forward to hosting you again anytime.
First off the hosts, Todd & Donna are amazing and were extremely helpful and communicative! The house is AMAZING!! The views are indescribable! We went with the intent of setting up shop and not leaving for 3 days - which is exactly what we did! We cooked, we played games, we hung out in the hot tub and took in every view the Mississippi had to offer!I can absolutely see how the summer months would be just awesome and definitely will be making the trip back!If you are looking for a winter relaxing get-away or a fun-filled water and outdoor summer adventure - Ferryville is where to go and Todd & Donna are who you want to contact!Thank you for allowing us to enjoy your beautiful home and property!!

Holy cow! We are so happy that you were able to totally relax and enjoy your 3 day stay. It's very heartwarming when guests find all they need to and notice our efforts to provide exceptional acommodations. We will be glad to have you book with us again in the future -- at any of our awesome and unique places!
We had so many magical and memorable moments at this lovely vacation home overlooking the mighty Mississippi River! The location is private and was gorgeous with the greenery and gardens of early summer. The home is even nicer than the photos as it felt so spacious, clean, and comfortable. Loved the colors and cozy feel. It had everything we needed and more! Little touches like a night light in the bathroom and books to browse, lots of conveniences like the washer and dryer and great fire pit, and wonderful amenities like the two screen porches - one with comfortable dining room furniture and the other with a great hot tub, made it such a relaxing and easy vacation. Beds were comfortable and the decor made us feel right at home. We came to explore the area - so much natural beauty - and also loved just hanging out inside and outside at the cabin. We loved hearing the train, exploring local trails, trying different fishing spots, meeting people in the small towns, reading historical markers, and visiting the fishery near Genoa. Sadly no barges were using the river due to water levels and the bridge to Lansing was closed, but we still found plenty to do! Ever since I went to college in Dubuque, IA, I have loved this river and we have taken many trips up and down the great river road over many years. This was, by far, one of the nicest places to stay along the river! A perfect get away for us!

About the host
Hosted by Todd & Donna Lensing
Your hosts, Donna & Todd Lensing, have been in the lodging business since 2006 after purchasing the Grandview Motel in Ferryville. Todd has also been a professional duck hunting guide since 2002, and Donna's passion is interior design, which you'll notice when you step through the door of any of our uniquely decorated properties.
Prior to owning the motel we have a combined total of 35 years of retail customer service experience. We know what we're doing, and are proud of our motel and 8 rental properties. We believe we have an excellent idea of what travelers to the Driftless Area expect and look forward to your visit!
Find out why we were drawn the the famous Pool 9 of the Mississippi River. Besides being a top waterfowl hunting destination, this section of the old muddy is an amazing fishery for multiple species year 'round. Our subclimate is so unique and we're happy to tell you what we know about the Driftless Area. Overlooking the river where it's about 3 miles wide, we feel so fortunate to experience Mother Nature's finest.
We also do our best to enhance our properties and continue to make any and all necessary improvements to give our guests the very best experience possible. Throughout the year you can plan to see bald eagles, whitetail deer, wild turkey, multiple species of waterfowl, including tundra and trumpeter swans. White pelicans provide quite a sight when they're flying along in perfect synchronicity. Songbirds are abundant along the river as well.
There's so much more to love about this area. Make your plans to discover what all the hype is about in our secret little corner of Wisconsin. After 18+ years of owning our Grandview Motel nearby we had the opportunity to expand to our 6th (our of 8) vacation rental. We've got extensive business and customer service experience, and we also operate a guide service for duck hunting. Interior design and gardening are something we're passionate about. We enjoy what we do!
Why they chose this property
Location! Location! Location! We're different!
We selected this cute cabin and have done several major improvements since purchasing in 2021. It's private, and perfectly located with a truly awesome panoramic view of the river. There is a neigbor cabin on the other side of the fence but she's an elderly widow who respects guest's privacy.
Thoughtful and eclectic decor and everything you could possibly need.
Private, comfortable, relaxing.
Ferryville is about mid-way between La Crosse & Prairie du Chien, approximatel 30 miles in either direction. There's also a bridge crossing over to Lansing Iowa nearby. A visit to the area isn't complete without stepping foot in Horsefall's Lansing Variety. Also, make sure to hit up Coffee on the River while you're there and Mt. Hosmer Park. And the Driftless Visitor Center.
Ferryville currently has 2 bars that serve food plus a gas station/convenience store. May through October welcomes back the weekly Farmers Market on Saturdays at Sugar Creek Park, just south of town.
There are multiple boat landings in the area, including one right in town. If you plan ahead, you can rent a pontoon boat from S&S Houseboat Rentals in Lansing.
If you like to hike?? You can simply stroll through the neighborhood or head down to Sugar Creek Conservancy, just south of town. Rush Creek State Natural Area is upriver a couple miles. Down by Prairie du Chien you'll find Wyalusing State Park, plus Pike's Peak & Effigy Mounds in Iowa. Grandad Bluff and Myrick Park have extensive trails throughout the La Crosse area.
Viroqua is another lovely small city to visit. Lots of eclectic shops and dining options and it's a lovely, scenic drive through the rolling hills of SW Wisconsin.
Get out there and enjoy!
What makes this property unique
Our goal was to provide a place to stay that we would enjoy ourselves, and having a view of the Mississippi River was a top priority.
We feel we found the perfect place that is easy to get to and provides unique features that will appeal to many. Large sunroom across the front of the cabin means plenty of opportunity to see the river. So many places to sit and enjoy the outdoors and enjoy the view indoors as well!
Guests are loving our 1970's retro vibe throughout the cabin. A few great vintage furniture pieces along with plenty of newer stuff. It feels like your grandma's cabin without feeling like it's your grandma's OLD cabin.
This cabin is perfect for anyone with mobility challenges at it's all on one level and no steps anywhere. That's unusual for this hilly region. There's plenty of room to turn your boat around along with ample parking. We also have a cute little fish cleaning shed adjacent to the parking.
If you enjoy bonfires we have a great set-up for you. A lovely patio with a covered rack of firewood nearby. For kindling all you need to do is walk around and find a few sticks.
For anyone that doesn't know, there are railroad tracks that have followed along the river on both sides for many years. You likely won't be disturbed from a restful night's sleep as they don't blast the whistle until closer to the crossing in town.
If you're an ambitious walker, you can stroll all the way to the other end of town -- about a mile one way. The boat landing is about 1/4 mile away. Many folks spend time there fishing from the piers and it's so handy for launching your boat.
While we allow dogs for a fee, we limit it to 2 per stay. Sorry, no cats.
We look forward to hosting you the next time you feel drawn to the Mississippi River. A favorite slogan of ours is 'the river is calling and I must go'. What are you waiting for?
