Two imposing houses set round an enclosed courtyard in ancient hill-top village
A lovingly restored pair of large stone houses (Romeo & Juliet) with staggering views over the Bormida valley to the mountains. Ideal for lovers of local Italian food fresh from the market, and the wonderful-value local Piedmont wines. Ideal for sitting out on the vast terrace sipping a Negroni or cooling off in the plunge pool. Plenty of space to relax and enjoy meals together. Great for family get-togethers. The rental rate of 3000 Euros per week is for up to 10 guests in all rooms (4 Double, 1 Twin) in both houses. We only accept bookings from Saturday to Saturday. For up to 4 guests, you can rent Romeo only (One double, one twin) but still have exclusive use of the property, at a special rate of €2000 a week. As we are fairly new to this website, and I'm hopeless at chivvying reviews, as yet there is only one review but if you google 'Sawdays' and put 'Orsara Bormida' in the search box, you can read plenty.

Initially we had a hard time believing that this spectacular estate would be ours to live in for the next two weeks. But after a discovery tour through the two buildings we had understood that this was exactly what we had been looking for; a place to relax; better than we wold have ever expected. We loved the atmosphere and the environment from the start. The pool was the attraction for the kids. The outdoor lounge and courtyard are perfect to sit, discuss, play, read, and for a BBQ in the evening. We really enjoyed the walks through the wine yards nearby, the strolls through the alleys of Acqui Terme, the good restaurants; in short, all we had been looking for in Piedmont. The recommendations binder prepared by the hosts was a great guide at all times. So a big think you from a very happy family and our friends.

About the host
Hosted by Peter Bear
We are painters, sculptors and writers who also adore houses and especially restoring them and giving them a new lease of life.
Why they chose this property
When we first saw the property we both immediately fell in love with it. Mind you, the two houses were in a very sorry state - two semi-ruins. But the way they were set facing each other across the courtyard with their balconies made us quickly call them Romeo and Juliet. After three years of loving restoration using local builders and local traditional craftmanship, our ugly duck has been transformed into the most marvellous swan!
What makes this property unique
Huge terrace. Superb long views with stunning sunsets as the sun sets behind Mon Viso over 100 kilometres distant. Great place for family meals. Pretty unspoilt village - the real Italy.
