About this property
Experience fall along the beautiful Chippewa River
Kayak season is here! Very Clean and Unique place to take the family on vacation or a group of friends (large group rates and accomodations available) We are located in Cornell, Wisconsin. Visit Brunet State Park for some paddling around the islands, less than a mile from cabin. Or kayak the Chippewa River....portage across the road. We have some of the best waters around. Old Abe biking trail runs from Cornell to Lake Hallie (about 40 miles of paved trail) is less than 1/4 mile from cabin for enthusiast bikers and for the hikers, the Ice Age Trail passes in front of the cabin on CC road. We are across the blue bridge on outskirt of town which has plenty of places to eat, within 1 mile radius. And if you love history, stop in to the visitor center located across the blue bridge, in Mill Yard Park. Great place to unplug and enjoy the outdoors again. The area offers seasonal outdoor recreation......fishing, hiking, biking, kayaking, snow shoeing, snowmobiling and cross country skiing. We have added a gas grill and also have a wood fire pit and propane fire pit on the covered deck.

My girlfriend and I stayed for her birthday. It’s a great little spot for a couple or handful of people! No kitchen to cook with, but that’s easy to work around during a short stay, if you’re prepared or don’t need one. Plenty to do in the area! Host is a nice guy.

Great cabin! Very clean, lots of options of things to do in the area, quiet. Would have love to have time for fishing, maybe next time!! Thank you!!
Everything was super clean, the host is welcoming, the location is perfect, the lake is across the street. There are also bikes and kayaks for free to use. Enjoyed it!
Perfect to feel close to who you're with and still have room! Lots of space outdoors. Comfy beds. Also let us check in early. We can't wait to go back!
This was perfect for our weekend stay, nice and quiet and it is in walking distance of town. Owners were very accommodating, they provided kayaks for us to go on the lake and river. They recommended some restaurants in town which were also very nice. Owners were very available and quick to reply to any questions we had.
The property was even better than photos. Property manager checked in to make sure we had everything we needed multiple times. Cabin had everything we needed and more. Highly recommended and the area has everything needed to make our stay perfect.
Comfortable beds. Hot shower. Cool A/C. Perfect base for tackling stretches of the Ice Age Trail in Chippewa County. Bring your own kitchen and grill implements.
Nice lil getaway for a small group with hospitality plus! Owners are very accommodating and helpful. Took our blind , diabetic family dog with us and they were very understanding of hers/our needs in regards to her health care. First vacay in 18 year bc of being a pet owner. Not our last...
We enjoyed staying in the Cornell area to enjoy hiking on the Ice Age Trail, kayaking on the Chippewa River, biking on the Old Abe State trail, and enjoying the Brunet Island State Park. The location of the cabin is wonderful... so close to many of these things! We loved the nature of the area. The cabin was very comfortable. The inside was very clean and well-taken care of. We appreciated the things included to make our stay more enjoyable and convenient, such as the use of kayaks and bikes, and movies/popcorn/games/maps of the area. The outside of the property was a bit unkempt with weeds and some garbage, but that was the only downside we noticed. Thank you so much to the hosts for their time and care in our stay, and for checking in on us. Very friendly and accommodating!

Nice little cabin...host was a great help with us not knowing how to use the lock box to get the keys..
Improvements would be wash cloths and hand towel by the sink..outside could be a little more well cared for...outside fire pit but no matces or paper to start the fie..but overall not bad place to stay
This was my second stay so knew what to expect. Still wish there was a hand towel and towel hook available by sink. Water is not drinkable, but bottled water was provided. Very clean inside, outside grounds could use a lot of tlc.
The property was as listed. Very clean inside and super comfortable beds. Lots of extras that were helpful to our trip and the host was very responsive to our inquiries.
A hand towel by the sink would be helpful as well as hooks for bath towels. A electric oven/stove would improve this property but we managed fine without one. The outside property could have been tidier, but it had unique character. Great location for those interested in biking, hiking, and kayaking.

Regarding the stay in Cornell, over-all, I rate it just below ok. The room was fine and all the amenities as well. However, the first issue was we were given the wrong address, (114 instead of 113). The 2nd and most important issue was the bathroom.1. The Toilet was full of rust, and should have been cleaned.2. The shower floor was also full of rust and should have been cleaned.3. The water from the shower smelled badly, leading me to believe the water filters should have been changed. a. Both my wife and myself did not shower. b. We used bottled water to washOn a positive note, the help we received from the lady and her daughter was excellent. The room was nicely furnished, and the bed was comfortable.
This is a shed in the middle of 2 busy streets. But close to river and hiking trails. There is not stove. Small frig. You have to bring all kitchen supplies. Plates, bowls, etc. There was a grill with several propane tanks around. But nothing was hooked up. Was close to town. Beds were comfy. Was clean. If you are interested in being close to town and to the river it’s ok. Don’t think I would stay here again.
I booked a weekend getaway as a surprise for my wife; I've visited this area of Wisconsin a few times but this was my wife's first time in the area. Disclaimer - my idea of a getaway is finding a location and not having any plans - my wife feels you need a location and plans.
My wife and I both loved the cabin. It was very easy to find, the check in process was smooth, and the property was everything that I was hoping for. The owner let me know there were kayaks and bikes at the cabin as well. The kayak launch is literally across the street so its a great place to go if you have your own kayaks as well.
The area is amazing as well. Even though I did not make plans before we left we were able to join a group hike on the Ice Age Trail on short notice. The town is amazing so were able to enjoy the hospitality of the staff at Dylan's Dairy one night and at Sam's Diner for breakfast.
Great weekend away! We will probably be back in the spring or early summer.
This is a great cabin. However from the start getting to the cabin I couldn’t get into the rental and waited about an hour for the host to arrive to let me in, while waiting I picked up items left by cleaning staff I’d assume, rugs were on front porch I’m assuming from them? Once the host arrived the beds were not made, she gave me a garbage bag full of linens and I made the beds myself.. so not the best first impression.. I had no hot water all weekend. Had to shower at the campground.. was not offered any reimbursement even after asking and waiting over a week for a reply. An option for a shower at a photography studio was offered after I had left. This doesn’t bother me but it’s worth noting there is one tiny sink for the kitchen and bath.. not a fork or anything as far as kitchen supplies. I live in the inner city and the road noise was honestly worse than at our house but that I’m used to and it didn’t bother me but it’s worth noting if you are looking for quiet and secluded.. as it’s neither.
The positives are location, comfy beds, clean, loved the kayak use. I would love to come back next year if the customer service could be turned up a notch..
Very simple cabin that is clean and the location was perfect for our fishing trip. Will make this our yearly rental. Very nice owner/s. Left a watch at property and they are mailing for free. Great communication as well.
This was a clean fun place to stay. Loved the extras they gave: bikes, grill, fire pit, and even offered bug spray for those hot summer nights. Location was the only thing I was disappointed in. Property on two busy roads.
We absolutely loved our stay at this cabin. Good location to trails and the water, which is exactly what we wanted! It is a little close to a main road, but it slows down at night when we wanted to be out by the fire. The owners were super accommodating and even provided bikes for us to go exploring. My only suggestion for the property would be blinds on the main doors but was otherwise so cute and perfect for the three of us!!
Very cool cabin which I would consider more like camping with a building - nice fire pit, porch - but we were not aware that it had no place to cook (other than an antique wood cook store), the refrigerator and microwaves were so small we would not have even been able to fit a plate or platter in either. Great for the outdoorsy biker/ hikers - but not for my family - we had no where to store food nor cook, and were pressed between busy highways.
Calvin is a Great Host and is very good with communication !! Great location and a very cute cabin with covered bridge area. Plus lots to explore, Many Thanks Calvin
This was a perfect spot for those who like to camp but want a bed to sleep in! We had a lovely relaxing weekend. The host was easy to communicate with and very responsive. Let us know ahead of time there were some water issues and provided alternative showering, however, we were fine with the water in the cabin and just used bottle water(some provided) for drinking and teeth brushing!!
