About this property
Water Front Home: Fisherman's' dream with private dock and beautiful sunsets
Beautiful and private backyard looking out at picturesque water views. There is a private dock to pull your boat up to, however due to high levels of seaweed and low water levels at different times of the year, it is usually easier to put your boat in at the free boat launch less than 1 mile from our home which puts you right onto Lake Erie. There is a marina, as well as a public boat launch less than 5 minutes away and Lake Erie is only a 15-minute boat ride from the house. You can also access the Huron River with kayaks 10 minutes from our dock. We have 4 kayaks and 1 canoe available for use. The backyard has a patio and a built-in fire pit with a hot tub to enjoy summer nights with gorgeous sunsets over the water as your backdrop.
There is a bald eagle's nest right across the lake, a large variety of birds seen from the property, and a bird sanctuary ~ 1 mile away for nature enthusiasts. This lake and many locations nearby offer great fishing opportunities. Easily catch a wide variety of fish right from this property's dock. We have personally seen a lot of Perch, Bluegill, and Northern Pike, but fisher's in the area have also been known to catch Small and Largemouth Bass, Steelhead, Walleye, Muskie, and Trout.
During the winter, enjoy country-cross skiing, ice fishing or snowmobiling. Take a 30-minute drive to Detroit for dinner and a Broadway show/Concert/Sports Event or to Campus Martius Park to go ice skating. Henry Ford Museum and Fairlane Mall with shopping options galore are 25 minutes away. Enjoy the night life in Toledo with lots of restaurants and entertainment options, a 30 minute drive away. Skiing and snowboarding are available ~1 hour away at either Brighton Ski Resort or Alpine Valley.
Just 2 miles up the road, behold three miles of captivating Lake Erie shoreline and sweeping vistas that you can only get with a Great Lake and great river at 1,607-acre Lake Erie Metro park. Plan on adding some recreational activity to your day with an 18-hole regulation golf course, the "Great Wave" swimming pool, a bird sanctuary, Marshlands Museum & Nature Center, and a marina.
Visit H2E Adventures less than 10 minutes South of Gran Vista for canoe/kayak/tube rentals.
Don’t miss the Point Mouilee duck festival in September! Point Mouilee is ranked as one of the top duck hunting locations in the nation! Point Mouilee is a 5 minute drive from Gran Vista!
Sleeping arrangements: Living room: Queen Sleeper Sofa (non-private) 1st Bedroom: Queen Bed with dresser and closet (largest bedroom). Ideal for a couple. 2nd bedroom: Queen Bed with dresser and closet. Ideal for a couple or kids. 3rd Bedroom: Queen bed with dresser and attached bathroom (no closet or TV). When only 2 couples or a family of 4 stay we typically leave this bedroom open so that it can be accessed to use bathroom.
Please beware of (and prepare for) a few inconveniences about this property: *One of the 3 bedrooms is VERY small, allowing for room for only a bed and small dresser. There is no closet though this is the only bedroom with private access to the only bathroom on the second floor. *The only full bathroom is on the first floor. There is a half bathroom on the second floor but it is only accessible through the smallest bedroom as noted above. *Though this property can technically sleep 10 people, it would be crowded due to the limited living area (~1300 square feet) and only sleeps 6 people privately, though is ideal for a large family with kids or 3-4 couples that feel comfortable with one another. Please keep these things in mind prior to booking. With this being said, we do take great pride in the quality/cleanliness of the mattresses and bedding that we offer at Gran Vista and our goal is that you be as comfortable as possible.

House was clean and everything worked. Was nice to actually have a host that cleans the grill and has that ready to use as well. I've stayed at many VBRO's and spent a lot more money and had garage sale fodder for dishes and grills that were so filthy I didn't dare cook on them. This place gets it right! Nice set of dishes and kitchen utensils, thanks!!

Owner was very responsive. Property was clean and check in was easy. Love the water Lillys and all of the wildlife-especially the white swans that visit often.
This was a perfect get away for friends to relax and unwind from our busy lives! The interior of the home was very clean and everything was easy to find and use! While we did not fish or use the kayaks on this round, this is a great spot for those who enjoy those past times.
If you’re looking for an up north feel without the long drive at a quiet clean location with fantastic water sunset views, this place is for you! Hostess Sara is amazing!
Had an amazing time!!! The house was perfect for our stay. Everything was clean and exactly how it was described. We had plenty to do to keep us busy, with the hot tub, fire pit along with the kayaks and canoes. Check in was a breeze, all the info we needed for our stay was sent to us via email. Would definitely stay again!
The property was amazing like always. Very clean and had everything we needed. We are going to make this an annual trip for the family. See ya next year!
Perfect place to rent while fishing the walleye run on the Detroit River. Clean comfortable and a nice fish cleaning station by the water in the back yard. Less than 5 min from Metro Park.

Great place for a family stay. Comfy beds. Utilized the backyard, board games, kayaks. Would stay again.
My husband owns a low voltage electrical company, installing security systems for big box department stores and I am a nurse at the Ann Arbor VA hospital. We are a blended family and have 5 children together, all of whom are now young adults. We bought this property 05/2021. We love traveling and wanted a home away from home to get away from all of the business of everyday life.
Why they chose this property
We fell in love with this property because of the views, privacy, and close proximity to Lake Erie. Soon after purchasing this property, we realized that we hit the jackpot with our neighbors as well. Our neighbors on the North side of the property are some of the kindest, most generous people you will encounter. This home is in a very tight-nit community and everybody that we have encountered have been very friendly and welcoming.
