This quiet and charming freestanding 1 bedroom garden cottage is located in the flat and sunny area of beautiful downtown Mill Valley - just minutes from San Francisco! It is beautifully furnished and comes completely equipped with a nice chef's kitchen.
With over 850 square feet, it is more than three times as large as a typical hotel room and offers plenty of ample space. You'll have a complete large chef's kitchen, a sunny dining room, a large living room with a desk area, one bedroom, and as an added bonus a light-filled sunroom to relax.

!!!IMPORTANT information for booking inquiries - please read!!!:
The maximum occupancy is 2 adults. This includes babies and children. Absolutely no extra guests overnight, this includes visitors for just one night.

This cottage offers no ADA features and may not be a good fit for people with mobility issues. There is a total of 7 steps to climb (partly without railing), and the path to the cottage is narrow, rocky and uneven. That makes it hard to navigate with a walker. Please consult all pictures and ask relevant questions if this might be a concern for you.

Please include information about the purpose of your trip in your inquiry (business trip, family visit, tourist, etc.) since we feel much more comfortable renting to someone we 'know' than to a complete stranger ;-). It also helps us to know what you might expect from your stay.


For all stays of 30 nights or more (only available occasionally):
Send a booking inquiry through the "contact owner" or "contact via inbox" button and enter your desired dates. Do not send a booking request, please. If staying for a longer time, please understand that this is a fully furnished cottage and that you can't 'move in' with all of your belongings, house stock, furniture, etc. Maximum stay is limited to 3 weeks for most of the year, occasionally we allow up to 6 weeks (no special discounts granted).


UPDATE: VRBO has installed an automatic 'book it now' feature - since we now only have a few hours time to accept the 'book it now' request we'll automatically decline every 'book it now' request that doesn't have additional information about your group or stay.

Our permit is limited to 2 guests and we reinforce this strictly. If you anticipate additional guests to stay overnight, this cottage is not for you. We only rent to adults, not to families with young children.
We also require a signed and initialed hard copy of the online rental agreement.


The cottage:
This is a completely freestanding small house, not an attached 'studio/apartment': 1 bedroom, one large living room, an extra sunroom, and a separate dining room connected to the large chef's kitchen. Enjoy beautiful hardwood floors, a bathtub, and a sweet backyard garden.

It is located at the end of the property behind the main house, behind a privacy fence and a large set of beautiful bushes and trees, with a big private space for outdoor seating. Your own small basement with a washer and dryer offers additional secure storage space for bikes or surfboards. The basement has a low ceiling and is only accessible through an exterior storm door. The owner lives in the main house in front of the property.

Located in the middle of Mill Valley's most desirable neighborhoods Sycamore and Boyle Park, it is very close to playgrounds, tennis courts, and a golf course. Trailheads and bike paths along the Bay are nearby. Enjoy your morning coffee and a croissant from French bakery "Le Marais" 3 houses down the road, or walk 10 minutes to bustling Lumberyard, Downtown Mill Valley Plaza, shops and boutiques, coffee shops, Library, Mill Valley Art and Film Festival, Mill Valley Market, Community Center with pool and gym, clubs (2 am, Sweetwater), schools, and excellent restaurants. Boyle Park is just across the street, and Sycamore Park with a nice playground is around the corner.

The bus stop to San Francisco or San Rafael is across the street and the Golden Gate Bridge is only 10 minutes away by car. San Francisco, Sausalito, Tiburon, Corte Madera, Stinson Beach, Muir Woods, Marin General Hospital, and College of Marin are all only minutes away by car and you could bike as well!

Rate details:
For stays of less than 30 nights: 10% TOT tax plus 2% tourist tax are collected

Restrictions during "normal" (non-Covid) times:
Please inquire about the minimum stay requirements. Longer stays are welcome too, but we limit it to a maximum stay of 3 weeks during most of the year. If staying for a longer time, please understand that this is a fully furnished cottage and that you can't 'move in' with all of your belongings, house stock, furniture, etc. Wedding parties/rehearsal dinners/business meetings and parties can NOT be held at the cottage. For stays of 30 days or more an additional cleaning during the stay is required, payable by the guest.

Extra cleanings:
You are welcome to hire any cleaner of your choice for additional cleanings. Alternatively, I can provide you with our cleaner’s phone number so you can arrange for additional cleanings. This is a contract between you and the cleaner and will have to be paid directly to the cleaner (cash only).
