Awaken your spirit to a one-of-a-kind retreat space for your vacation. This 2 story urban chalet nestled on a corner lot with a wrap around deck has been designed by Yasmine McGrane (founder of Maison Reve).

The intention of this property is to provide a place that inspires guests to relax from the face pace of daily life, reconnect to the present moment, and enjoy the fresh, seasonal bounty of the Bay area. After booking, guests receive our Welcome Guide with a curated list of local favorites from the best farm-to-table restaurants, restful cafes and special destinations worthy of exploring.

This is a great home for someone looking for a long term rental as it never feels like you are living in someone's personal home. The simple, modern decor is wonderful. The property was recently redecorated included: freshly painted throughout in a soft dove grey and white trim, refurbished original large plank hardwood floors everywhere, new sofas in Belgian flax linen, organic cotton sheets from Coyuchi and linen duvet bedcovers from Libeco Lagae (leading brands in organic and linen products), brand new luxurious Sealy posturepedic mattresses and much more!

Great stay!

Check in was easy and communication was great with clear instructions for check in and out. The house was clean and comfortable and my kids loved the upstairs rooms and loft area! I was happy to come “home” to the bright and sunny house after long days of exploring the area.

Adorable cottage in the hills with easy access to the city, yet far enough away to be quiet and safe. Loved the local amenities like groceries, restaurants and coffee shops.

Restful retreat with style

We are a family of four who were visiting the area for the first time. The cabin is exactly like the pictures and description, very comfortable, charming, and well appointed. There was enough space for all of us to spread out and relax. The property is situated in a hillside neighborhood with enough tree cover to feel shaded and private. Communication with Yasmine was prompt and easy. The location in Mill Valley is a perfect communication of safe small town and close drives to Muir Woods and downtown SF. We are already talking about staying here again in the future. Thank you for the great memories!

Cozy and Relaxing Retreat

We had a great stay at the chalet. The property is close to all the places we wanted to visit yet was in a quiet neighborhood with many trees so it was a relaxing stay. The property was very well stocked with everything we needed. The hosts were very responsive and truly seemed to care that we enjoyed our stay!

Beautyful House

This house is very beautyful and quiet. We really enjoyed to come „home“ over the Golden Gate Bridge after visiting San Francisco. Kitchen , terasse with grill, hummingbirds in the garden wifi , cool, furnitures…, we loved it!

Great property close to Mill Valley

We stayed at Yasmine's property while in town for a wedding. The location was very convenient to events in Mill Valley and surrounding areas and the house is very charming. The separation of the two bedrooms upstairs and down was perfect for our party. The house was clean and well stocked for cooking in. Check in instructions were very clear.

Nice quaint cottage

Old quaint cottage with lots of character. well supplied with everything you need. There are two bedrooms but only a downstairs bathroom. The stairs are very creaky so it's very loud going down them at night.

Perfect Mill Valley home

We loved staying at this home to visit our family. The beds were comfortable and it was so peaceful to be in the trees. It is in the middle of Mill Valley and close to stores and restaurants. It is also close to San Francisco and my kids' favorite activities including Slide Ranch and Chrissy Field. I loved walking from the home down to the bike path for a walk/run. The neighborhood is quiet and of course it is always nice to have a parking spot. We hope to stay here again!

Cozy Cottage close to great hikes!

This cottage was a great place to stay for areas in and outside of San Francisco. It is within walking distance of the Mill Valley-Sausalito path for those who like an exercise trail. It's a 10-15 minute drive to Muir Woods, the Golden Gate Bridge overlook points or Point Bonita Lighthouse, which all have beautiful trails and hikes to take. The days we went in to San Francisco we easily found parking ahead of time using a parking app to pre-book a spot and used public transportation to get around. There are several restaurants and grocery stores within 5 minutes of the property. And an ice cream shop in town that was yummy. When we were done for the day we had a cozy little hideaway to relax and rest before the next day's adventure.

Cozy Cottage

We loved our stay. The owners were super helpful and responsive. The home has all the amenities you need to settle in and feel at home. Home has a 60s feel with many upgrades. We loved all the trees and plants surrounding the property. Neighbors are close but tucked away in the evergreen. Quite neighborhood. The road is a bit narrow. We had a big SUV and were able to maneuver the driveway just fine. Upstairs bed is comfortable, downstairs bed is a bit hard. Our kids asked if we could just stay here forever. We promised them another visit in the future. I would highly recommend this property!!!

Quaint chalet with charm

We stayed here during our stay to San Francisco. We are from Pennsylvania so we wanted a place that made us feel at home and not a hotel room. This home fit the mold completely! Nestled in the hills and around nature we had a little piece of PA with us! Upon our arrival, a doe and her two fawns greeted us in the yard and we fell in love with them and the house before even entering. Inside the pictures online look exactly as it did in person, which is always a good thing! Yasmine was very accommodating and communication was superb! I recommend this place to anyone looking to stay close to San Francisco but not right in the city. Only thing to keep mind of is that the street is very narrow to get up to the house and we had a minivan that was hard to get into the driveway with, but we did it and would never deter is from staying here again!

Charming little cottage in the woods

We loved it here and would come back. The house had everything we needed: good coffee, soaps, lotion, Kleenex, laundry detergent, a well stocked kitchen. My only beef was there was a situation with the laundry where it wouldn’t drain due to a blockage (that hopefully will be resolved for the next person). The owner was very responsive and came to fix/clean it up right away. The house was very clean except for some cobwebs on the vaulted ceiling and some dust. If you have kids, you may want to move some of the items to higher shelves so they don’t break though. My kids just couldn’t leave some of the decor alone but they are young. Loved the attention to detail and all the antique finds. The huge collection of old National Geographic magazines was fun to look through.

Lovely chalet getaway!

Great little chalet and getaway for our family of four! Yasmine was wonderful to work with and the house was homey and had so many wonderful touches and amenities. Beautiful green views and cozy beds and spaces. Slight damp/“moof” smell in house and especially downstairs in laundry room, but fans moved the air and it was fine. Galley kitchen is small but we managed fine and wood dining table chairs are small and hard/non-cushioned. Some games for older teens/adults would be nice to add. Trash/recycling is a bit of work to figure out, but no big deal. Driveway is tricky but we managed fine. Short drive to downtown Mill Valley, Muir Woods, etc. Walk through neighborhood to Bob’s Donuts (amazing!) & Tam Junktion (the cutest vintage store!). Thanks for a great, revitalizing week away in your lovely chalet! :-)

Our family lives in the neighboring town Sausalito, California. I grew up in Montreal, Canada and my husband is from Sydney Australia. We have 2 children, Delphine age 5 and Finnegan age 8. For 10 years I had a thriving vintage French home and garden store in Mill Valley right on the downtown square called Maison Reve. The business has received national attention and now I run my business online so I can enjoy also being home with our children. My intention is to provide relaxing getaway places for people to come and unwind, reconnect to themselves and nature, and enjoy the local treasures (little cafes, farm-to-table restaurants etc).

Why they chose this property

My mother is Suisse French and I have always been inspired by chalet homes. After working in San Francisco during the internet boom years of 1997-2001, I decided to find a home in charming Mill Valley that had a calming backdrop of nature. I fell in love with this place the minute I saw it. The natural lighting and open loft style is very inspiring.

What makes this property unique

This home has a Swedish simple zen feel to it. You can see greenery through all the skylights and large windows. The wrap around deck and patio garden are very private with deer often walking around the area.
