Thanks for checking out the historic 1927 Alpine Garden Cabin. Located in the shadows of Prospect and Giant Track Mountains with views into the National Park and Twin Sisters Peaks, it`s about 5 minutes from the entry gate to Rocky Mountain National Park, 5 minutes from downtown Estes Park, and just seconds away from my favorite restaurant and local supermarket.
This unique cabin originally sat inside the National Park, in Moraine Park, and was eventually moved to its current site. If you stay here, you`ll be staying in a museum that`s been slowly and gradually added to over the years.
During the most recent updates, I added some fun touches: coffee tables and shelving I hand-made from local reclaimed wood, and funky hanging lamps I made out of whiskey bottles that I upcycled from my favorite local restaurant, Bird and Jim (just down the street). I also added a new privacy fence to and opened up the back yard so you can enjoy afternoon meals or glasses of wine and feel alone.
The inside is super unique: there`s a historic wood stove, tin ceiling in the living room, and fun 1950s lime green paint in the fully stocked kitchen. It`s got everything you need to help you feel at home during your Estes Park vacation. Enjoy the wood burning stove in the historic living room, or just kick back in front of a smart TV (on top of another fireplace) and zone out.
***** IMPORTANT DISCLOSURE *****

I own a small rental management company in town and have a great team of house managers, so either myself or one of them will be readily available to answer any and all questions.
My neighborhood is a typical Estes Park rural residential neighborhood, where you can see mountains all around but there are also neighbors. My property is a little over an acre and this unit has an effective privacy fence so all the outdoor area feels private and `all yours.` There are neighbors and I ask that guest are respectful of them, self-monitor their noise levels, and do not trespass on their land.
This property is about a 15 minute walk to the Country Super Market (downhill there, uphill back), where you can hop on the free summer shuttle bus that goes all over Estes Park and takes you to the Rocky Mountain National Park visitor center, and from there you can hop on a shuttle that goes into the National Park.
However, you really need to have your own car when visiting Estes Park. There are not reliable Ubers/Lyfts and the taxis are few and far between.
NOISE
Events, loud music and noises, and parties are strictly prohibited. Please be respectful of your noise level so I can maintain good relationships with my neighbors. Note that my property has two other short term rentals on it; treat our neighbors like you`d want to be treated.
The house has a Minut, which measures sound levels and alerts us if things are too loud so I can give you a heads up. It does not record content, it only measures decibel levels so your privacy is 100% guaranteed. Guests are not to unplug it (we will also be alerted if that happens). It also measures temperature to alert us of pipe freeze conditions. It`s on the kitchen ceiling.
NONPAYING GUESTS
Insurance requires that nonpaying and non-registered guests are not allowed on property.
AIR CONDITIONER
Estes has a mild mountain climate in the summers but from time to time it can get hot. Like nearly every other home in town, there’s no A/C. The cool evening breeze will cool the home down quickly.
MINUT
We use a Minut noise meter. It doesn`t record audio, but instead monitors decibel levels, temperature and humidity. This is for the safety of guests & to protect the home. It also serves to warn us about parties & prevent noise complaints from neighbors. It`s located on the cieling in the kitchen.

Great place to unwind! My family had a great time relaxing in the hot tub in the back yard, gazing at the stars and mountains. Close to town and park entrance. We will definitely stay here when we come back.
The house was exactly as advertised. It was very clean and the main bedroom was very comfortable and spacious. Wi-fi was good and our host checked in with us often to make sure we were having no issues. We would stay at this or another property with this host again. We also thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Estes Park. The aspen trees were radiant while we were there.
We were only there for one night. It was rustic and very charming. I loved the porch swing.

Great cabin, will continue to come back
We loved our stay at the Mountain Meadow retreat. It was our second time staying at this property and there will be many more! We love the convenience of being a few minutes from town, but still secluded enough to see plenty of wildlife.

Fun cabin, great location
Great space, good accommodations, great location, very clean. Only complaint was a strange smell in the cabin, but a little air freshener and open windows did the trick.

I was unaware of this smell till now. Will forward to my house cleaning crew to determine the source.
This cabin is ADORABLE & HUGE!! The process from the moment we booked, until we checked out was so easy. The host was wonderful, and so helpful/available with any sudden questions we had. It was VERY clean. Wonderful location!! Highly recommended stay.

Beautiful and convenient location
For one interstate and two international travellers this cabin was ideal. Right on the edge of the Rocky Mountain National Park providing easy access for hiking and sightseeing. The accommodation was comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked. The BBQ was generous in size and the umbrella had its own set of lights. A nice place to come back home to after a long day of discovering the beauty of the Rockies.

Comfortable, convenient home away from home
We recently stayed at this cottage for two weeks for a family vacation. We REALLY enjoyed it. The location is fantastic - right off the road to RMNP, and 2 minutes from Estes Park's main drag. There's a nice restaurant and mini-grocery right down the street as well. It was very quiet, and the yard was a huge bonus with kids - they ran around and climbed the rocks and trees and had a great time.
The beds were very, very comfortable, even the foldout couches. There were plenty of sheets and towels, and having the washer/drying in the house was convenient. Some staples were provided, like dish and laundry soap, salt and pepper, toilet paper, paper towels, and napkins. You will have to be sure to provide your own baking supplies if you want to bake (like sugar and flour).
When we were there, the weather was beautiful - nice and cool. Those staying in July and August should note that the house DOES NOT have air conditioning/cooling. Other than those two months, ceiling fans and open windows will work out beautifully. And the house is heated well.
The master bath is fabulous, with a nice, big shower. The clawfoot is charming, and my little ones loved taking a bath in it. One important note is that the current owner of this cottage is GREAT to work with. She's flexible, very responsive, and was nice and patient with my many goofy questions. That is a huge bonus if you've rented from a private owner before - it makes such a difference!
I would absolutely recommend this cottage for stays September through June.

Location, Comfort & Visiting Elk
We just returned home after spending 9/22 to 10/1 in this lovely home. As expected, the home has character & comfort & provided exactly what we needed day after day when we returned from hiking in RMNP. There were only 2 in our party but we could have comfortably slept 6. The bed and pillows were comfy (I often bring my own pillow so I was relieved). We enjoyed the grill & private patio & were more than thrilled when the local elk herd visited the back yard & we were able to capture his bugling on the Go Pro & iPhone. The location is PERFECT just a few miles from the park's entrance. We hiked every day & ate meals in the home because it was easy, convenient & economical. We bought groceries at Safeway, a few miles into Estes Park, follow the signs to avoid some of the Estes Park traffic near downtown on the weekends. There was a crock pot in the home we used one day for beef stew which was a fabulous convenience.
Hiking - we hiked the following trails: Mills Lake, Lake Helene, Bierstadt Lake, Lily Lake, Toll Memorial, Chasm Lake, Alluvial Falls, Sprague Lake, Cub Lake to the Pools, Lake Haiyaha, Emerald Lake, Bear Lake, Alberta Falls. Our favorites were Mills, Bierstadt, Helene & Chasm. I'd sprained my ankle badly 2 hours into our first hike by stepping off the trail to take a photo of an elk & I must not have been paying attention, a stupid mistake & I should have known better. After an afternoon of icing & laying low for a day I hiked anyway & have a puffy ankle with a myriad of color that can better heal now that I'm home.
The one evening we dined out we chose Rock Inn. It seemed like a local spot with character & an acoustic singer. Prices are moderately high at most restaurants that I looked at which is to be expected in a tourist area. We loved the Rock Inn & ate Hummus, Vegetable Bowl, Penne Feta Bowl & 2 salads. The service & food were outstanding & we would return.
On our last day a kind lady at one of the downtown stores shared some night videos with us of the wildlife most of us don't get to see (mountain lions, bear & coyote) & told us about a bear that often sleeps in a big tree near downtown. We went for a short walk & I was lucky to spot the bear in a huge tree, cradled in the upper branches, well camoflouged. We likely spent a half hour taking photos & iPhone videos as he watched us & changed position slightly. This was a great way to end our trip!
Thanks for allowing us to share your lovely home!

Thanks for your very thoughtful review of our cabin retreat. All the hikes you made are some of our favorite adventures in Rocky Mountain National Park. Hope your ankle is better. Because of guests like you, we love to share our Cabin, it makes a visit to Estes Park very special. Best Wishes.
Enjoyed our stay at this cabin. The best features are proximity to rmnp and the breezeway. We sat and watched deer and elk come down the hill into the backyard.
Perfect location! Everything you need being away from home.
We stayed at this property for three nights. The property is less than a mile away from the RMNP, so you are not wasting a minute of your precious time visiting the park. During COVID-10, make sure to secure a reservation to the park first before renting any property - at least this is what we did.
The property itself is well maintained, and we were provided with everything we needed. The property managers even left us the grocery store’s loyalty card, so we were able to save money on our groceries. The communication with the property managers was great, and they provided us with all necessary information regarding the property, the neighborhood, and the locality. If we visit RMNP again, we will definitely stay at this property – cannot ask for a better home and location. Thank you.
