Private lake front cottage with spectacular views & private dock/swimming area.
Feel like you are in the middle of the Adirondacks yet shopping and attractions are only minutes away. This historic stone cabin is located along a dead end road. Surrounded by mountains and water it is very private. The cabin offers wonderful lake views. There is a screened in porch overlooking the lake, a wonderful place to start your day. Then go down the stairs to your private lake front and take a swim. The lake is great for swimming, fishing and boating. While the water off the dock is shallow with a sandy bottom it gets deeper so you can jump in off the end of the long dock. After a lovely day at the lake, have diner on the outdoor patio and relax in front of the campfire. What a perfect day in the Adirondacks! Want to do something else tomorrow? Just check out the local chamber of commerce web site. There are amusement parks, outlet shopping, museums, malls, restaurants, hiking, white water rafting, horseback riding, etc. We are sure you will have a great time.
Glen Lake: Glen Lake is approximately 3 miles long. The cabin is located in the deeper wider sections of the lake. There are two islands, the larger one has a lighthouse and cabin. There is a restaurant on the opposite side of the lake 'The Docksider'. The fishing is wonderful. There is a wetland, swamp area at the inflow of the lake which is full of wildlife and birds. The view from the cabin is of Prospect Mountain, French Mountain and the other mountains separating Glen Lake from Lake George. The water is comfortable and great for swimming and activities. Most of the homes along the lake are year round and it tends to be very quite during the week, especially during the day. It is truly a beautiful place to be.
The cabin: The cabin was built during the 1930's. It is very lovely and surrounded by woods tucked into the side of the hill. The cabin is located on the same property as the owners home. The driveway is shared but the landscaping very nicely separates the two. You have your own private swimming area. It is wooded on either side of the swim area (no one has a beach or swim area right next to you). The view from the screened in porch is breath taking. You can see up the lake, the islands and the sunsets.
Guest comments: We have been renting the cabin for 5 years. Everyone who has stayed with us has really enjoyed the place. 'It is so relaxing' 'Beautiful location' 'Great fishing' 'Plenty of activities for everyone' 'One week is not enough' 'Nicer than we thought'

It was perfect for our needs. We were there for a long weekend and wedding celebration. The house was close to town and the venue and we loved being on the lake!!
This is our second visit to Clair’s home! We love the location and the lake is stunning. Very quiet and private. We canoe and fish on the lake as well. Weather could not have been better. We will return again Thank you Clair for a great stay

So happy you enjoyed your stay. Looking forward to your return visit.
If you like the lodge look, this stone cottage is perfect. The views from the screened in porch are beautiful. Quiet location. It has everything you need for a relaxing vacation.
Lovely lake house. Incredible view, plentiful fishing. The house was clean, but had a mustiness to it which is to be expected on a lake house of that age, but it did flare up my allergies. The host was kind & helpful. Would definitely recommend.
The cottage was cozy, clean and very well equipped. Comfy beds and the softest sheets! Gorgeous views of the lake from the lovely screened porch, perfect for relaxing with coffee or a cocktail. Private dock for sun and swimming. Location was very secluded and peaceful. The stone patio with grill and fire pit also had a lovely lake view. This is a truly charming, artsy and restful retreat, and the hosts anticipated our every need. Pet friendly too! We will certainly visit again.

So glad you enjoyed your stay. Looking forward to having you come back.
Everything was wonderful even tho the weather was rainy; we didn’t get to enjoy the lake but the cabin was amazingly cozy and significantly better than the pics, which was an awesome bonus. The cabin is right on the lake, couldn’t be closer, and we plan to return so we can enjoy the water. Clar was a wonderful host and very attentive; the cabin had all of the thoughtful little things that was the perfect cherry on top!

The host thought of everything, fully stocked kitchen, very comfortable beds, lake facing screened porch that we practically lived in. We will definitely return for another stay!

Four of us over 70, friends from elementary school, got together for a 3 day stay. We absolutely loved the screened in porch overlooking the lake and had a beautiful sunset the first night. Loved the cabin.

About the host
Hosted by Clair Hensler
My husband and I grew up in the area but we didn't meet until we were in our 30's. He is an MD practicing ENT and allergy in Albany. I manage the property, run the household and do small construction jobs. We have one daughter who works and lives in LA. We have an old goat, 7 chickens, two turkeys and a cat. We have always wanted to live on the water so being here is like a dream come true.
Why they chose this property
My husband grew up in the area and spent summers at the camp next door. We purchased the cabin shortly after we were married and spent summers there. Once our daugher was born we decided to build our year round home next door. It was important for us to maintain the natural beauty of the cabin and its surroundings. We wanted to be able to share this wonderful place with others.
What makes this property unique
I just love being so close to everything but when I am at the cabin I feel like I am in the middle of the Adirondacks. Sitting on the screened porch is like sittling in a tree house. The sunsets can be magnificent.
