About this property

University Bungalow with AC in a Relaxed, Safe Area

Onyx House is open for The World Athletic Championship! Rent our charming 80 year old bungalow in this friendly university neighborhood. Owners Mark and Alice manage it and live nearby and are happy to help you get situated with lots of local knowledge. Open for this event or longer term rentals only.

Our house is a mile from Hayward field and within walking distance to many parks and restaurants including the Amazon Park and pool, and several running trails. It is fully furnished, stocked, well cleaned and equipped with quality linens and paper goods.

One bedroom has a comfortable queen bed, two night tables with lamps and chargers, closet, dresser and AC unit.

The second bedroom has a daybed with trundle, side table with lamp and chargers, dresser, closet and AC. This daybed functions as a sofa but it made up for a twin bed. Below the day bed is a trundle bed with twin mattress that easily slides out and pops up to the same level as the day bed. Placed side by side they are the size of a King bed but can be used separately as two twins. The room is small and may require some climbing over to access the daybed. They have almost new mattresses and bedding and are very comfortable.

A third room off the living room has the washer/dryer, desk and french door to the deck.

The living room is equipped with comfortable sofa, two swivel chairs and 32" TV and roku. The internet is great at >100mbps.

The kitchen has an electric range, full size fridge and everything you need to prepare most meals. There's a dinette with table and 4 chairs. The bath has a tiled tub and shower, cabinets and window.

The house has a pretty yard with flowers, trees and birds and the neighborhood has an overall friendly vibe. The carport is next to the kitchen and another car can park behind in the drive. There is usually ample street parking.

One dog is OK but please pick up after them.

Cozy home away from home

The house was exceptionally clean and had every comfort you'd want and so much more. The kitchen was perfectly stocked with everything you would need to make any meal imaginable. The beds were so comfortable and the living space was perfect for 4 people. Of course the beautiful outside deck was a huge plus. This house will be my for sure go to anytime I visit Eugene and I highly recommend it! Thanks for an amazing time :)

Perfect stay for our little summer getaway! Very quiet, great bed, air conditioning was very appreciated & nice walking wooded trails nearby! Even saw turkeys on our walks & a baby deer go by our window. Great location for catching a Eugene Emerald’s baseball game, touring the University of Oregon & only an hour drive away to go white water rafting!

Beautiful, quiet location

We had a wonderful stay at the quaint Onyx House. The location to restaurants, Laurelwood golf course and restaurant, Prince Pucklers ice cream, and campus couldn’t be beat. The neighborhood was incredibly quiet, and the house had everything we needed. It was fun to watch the turkey family while having coffee on the deck outside.

Mark and Alice have lived in then rented out this house for a few decades. We've watched students graduate and young couples start their families here and it has good memories for us. We have raised our kids nearby and love Eugene and all it has to offer and hope you enjoy your stay in our little home.

Why they chose this property

Our house is about a mile from UofO in a natural setting with interesting walks in any direction. It's close to shopping, parks and restaurants and big event venues but doesn't have a big city feel. I love that there's university art and history museums nearby and world class musical offerings regularly available. And that when the breeze is right you can hear the cheers from the Hayward field.
