Wonderful spot!! Very family friendly. My kids loved the beach, and kayaking! Convenient spot to many different activities. Cozy little camp. Just what we needed for a little get away
This place was great for our family of 5. Walking distance from a Lake Lucerne beach. The house has a nice fire pit and grill. The owners were very easy to reach and helpful. Overall a great stay!
Quiet cabin/home in walking distance to the lake. If you are looking for a quiet getaway, this is the perfect cabin. Only 20 mins from downtown lake George. I plan on staying here again next year!!
The Cabin in the woods was comfortable and quaint. Short walk to the beach was fine for our young adults. Plenty of parking if at the beach if you prefer. So close to Lake George and Saratoga. With plenty to do in the Lake Luzerne area.

Glad you and your family enjoyed The Looney Bin and the Lake Luzerne Beach and area activities. Parking at the property is limited to 2 cars, and although there is public parking a short distance away- it is restricted to beach users only, not overflow parking, and overnight parking is prohibited. Only 2 cars allowed at The Looney Bin. If you require additional vehicles, this may be an issue. Good news, though: I do have other Luzerne properties with more parking: enter the following listing numbers in vrbo "Where do you want to go?" to see availability/rates/parking capacity-

We stayed at the Loon-ey Bin while we were in town for a music festival in Lake George. We wanted something that was outside of the vicinity of Lake George because of how busy it was going to be for Labor Day weekend and this was the perfect place! It was clean, spacious, and in a nice spot sooo close to the beach! We wish we had more time to stay at the property and enjoy it, but we loved our little “home” for the weekend.
A little off the beaten path, we were struck by how quiet it got at night. Great for sleeping after spending the day at Lake George or Lake Luzerne! The full kitchen was great to come back to after a day of exploring, if you don't want to eat out all the time. And the sunroom porch was perfect for playing board games with the family. Thanks for a lovely stay!
Amazing experience staying in the “Looney Bin”. The house was so cute and perfectly maintained. Prior to arrival communication was amazing and during our time there we knew they were just a call away but truly felt like we were in our own home. Our girls had a blast at the beach that was walking distance from the house. And the best part…our fur baby was also able to join us on our family vacation!
A clean, well managed property within walking distance to Lake Luzerne and short drive to Lake George. Cabin is rustic With basic accommodations but is a fair price for area and location to lake. We especially liked the screened in porch and kayaks. Only downside is no washer/ dryer and no midweek towel/linen exchange.

Greg- glad you and your family enjoyed The Looney Bin! Not sure if owner can add a washer/dryer to this property, but a mid week towel exchange is a wonderful idea for week long guests and I may institute next year when I can coordinate and schedule with laundry service.. In the meantime, there is a laundromat within 2 miles of the Looney Bin open 24 hours, with WiFi, and I've added a towel rack for drying towels more quickly inside. or on the enclosed porch. I do manage these properties that include washer/dryers:#3740355,#3755251,#9447317,#2372535 - to check availability and amenities, type the listing number in vrbo, "Where do you want to go??"
Stay Looney!
Had a great time at this cottage. This reminded me of the camp in Hadley I went to every summer…only better! Great location and super clean. Beach was nice and quiet. The kayaks were an extra bonus and our family enjoyed them. Diane was great about providing all of the local activities and shopping that the area had to offer. If we travel up to the Adirondacks next year we will definitely stay here again…only for a longer time. Great memories were had here!
The Loon-ey Bin was exactly what we were looking for! It's the perfect place for a getaway with the family. The house was clean and comfortable and was a wonderful home away from home. We loved the loon theme! The proximity to the beach is a huge plus and the surrounding areas are beautiful, with so much to do for relaxation and enjoyment. Diane was a great host. She was especially helpful on this trip and has already been a great help with our next! We would definitely stay at the Loon-ey Bin again. We look forward to our next visit and working with Diane again!
We had a great stay at the Loon-ey Bin. Diane, who manages the property, was excellent with communication. She kept us informed every step of the way. There was a water issue during our stay that turned out to be a town problem, completely out of her control, but Diane explained everything clearly and handled it as best as possible. She and the owners were even kind enough to refund us a night for the inconvenience, which we really appreciated. The property itself was just what we were looking for, especially traveling with an infant. It was well-suited for our needs, and overall a good fit for our trip. The only downsides: the mattresses could be updated and the dehumidifier would really benefit from being piped outside. Having to empty it every six hours was inconvenient, and if you miss it, the air can take on a musty smell.Overall though, we enjoyed our stay, felt well taken care of, and appreciated the way everything was handled.
Quaint adirondack cabin in a nice neighborhood in the woods. The screened in front porch was a great place to start and end the day with a cup of coffee. Neighbors are close but are very friendly. The fire pit was also a hit with our grandson. Clean and comfortable beds. Diane from tha managemect company was a great source of things to do in and around Lake Luzerne.Overall the best short vacation we have had in a long time!]
The house was in a nice location and clean. Good kayaks. But window fan cords didn't reach the electrical outlets and the exterior needs repair and paint. No comfy chairs in the living room or on the porch.

The cobweb cottage
Property was very dirty, cobwebs and dust everywhere, window blinds weren't functional, dirty sponge in the sink, crumbs on the counter, no lights leading to the back door that you have to enter from, most of the windows did not have screens and there were only 2 AC's in the house.
Save your momey and book elsewhere
We love the Lake Luzerne area and were so happy to find a home with such close access to the lake beach that would also allow for us to bring our pup. Such a lovely walking area and we always have a better time when we can bring our sweet girl with us. The house was very clean and very nicely stocked with the essentials to get you going. Even though the washer/dryer are small - I was SO grateful to have it. I find nothing more stressful than having to come home from a vacation with a ton of dirty laundry... so I really appreciate that this property managed to fit a nicely functioning stackable unit in the bathroom. Absolutely loved the screened in porch area for reading a book and having coffee. Wifi was great, smart TV awesome. No complaints here!

Terribly Musty, Dank and Mildew
The location of this cottage is the ONLY positive. It is a rundown, mildew, moldy and musty place that has rotting wood upon entry which is not only unsightly, it is a hazard. The towels and sheets were musty and floors especially under the bed were unclean. Refrigerator upon arrival was dirty, mismatch of cutlery, unwashed dishes and no working can opener, veg peeler and moldy wooden spoons in utensil drawer . Beds were uncomfortable and room real small. Property manager was abrupt, rude and unprofessional.. We rather stay at the renovated motel luzerne.

This Guest violated the house rule of max 6 occupants 2 vehicles at all times (day or night), that she agreed to upon booking, which is clearly stated on the lease that she signed and accepted (submitted late on day of arrival), and is posted clearly in the rental as a house rule. She invited 12 people and 4 vehicles to a max 6 people/2 vehicle property. The rules and lease also state that the occupancy rules are strictly enforced. She only complained about the property when I stopped to ask her to comply with the rules or leave the property.
The cottage is a rustic cabin in the Adirondacks. The cabin is cleaned thoroughly and towels and bed linens laundered at high temps off site. Upon checkout, I noted no smell and the refrigerator was clean, and under beds as well. Guests are tasked with cleaning the dishes they use (there is a dishwasher!!) as inventory of all items cannot be performed during a 5 hour turnover window. If contacted, I would have gladly brought over any item lacking. Prior guest did not report any missing or damaged items. Beds are very comfortable, as other guests have noted. The Looney Bin is an authentic Adirondack cabin, with adorable loon theme, kayaks, and close to Lake Luzerne public beach. Best for those who want the privacy and peacefulness that comes from sipping a cup of coffee in the morning, on the front porch, listening to the call of the loons. Can't get that from a hotel, with shared walls and porches, no matter where. But you have options...just follow the rules wherever you fly!
This is a cozy older cottage. A real Adirondack experience that seems to be a throw back of long ago vacation days; it has that vibe. Nestled in the woods with Lake Luzerne Beach right around the bend. There are loons on the Lake. We saw them near Ivy Island!
Cottage very clean. Bathroom new with nice walk-in shower. Handy small washer and dryer. Plenty of towels.
Small, functional kitchen with S.S. dishwasher, electric stove with convection oven flat cook top. Fridge was bigger than I expected and dining room seats six.
Rooms well lit. New fans in bedrooms and porch. Window air conditioners for summer. Stayed in May we appreciated electric blankets and quilts. Chilly nights we used baseboard radiators in living room with electric insert heater in fireplace.
Three bedrooms with painted iron beds. They have no closets but have furniture for clothes. Mattresses thick and comfortable.
Screened in porch was great to sit and relax in. Has rustic, wood ceiling with new fan. Nice view of forest very peaceful. Table and chairs in there so you can have a meal, play cards or board games.
Fire pit in backyard plenty of wood for a fire to make s’mores! Private and cozy.
If you’re looking for a little, simple cottage in the woods, near a lake in quiet town of Lake Luzerne then we recommend the Looney-bin!
Our host, Diane Powers was attentive and considerate in making our stay very pleasant. Your hospitality was very much appreciated. Thank you!

Basic accommodations, management unwilling to address concerns
Due to some unexpected change in plans, we were able to stay in the area for a few days. There were some issues, but our time was limited, and it wasn't our intension to spend a significant amount of time in the cottage. I did take pictures to share with the property manager, Diane Powers so spiders and cobwebs in the kitchen cupboard and in the fireplace, attached to the electric heater (we were told to move and use if necessary) could be addressed before the next guests arrived. There were numerous extension cords out in the open. Two of which had air conditioners plugged into them. The outside windows are very dirty with thick cobwebs, dirt, and pine needles (a quick sweep with a broom would have made a huge difference) and a pile of debris including sticks and burnable garbage were not only an eyesore but a perfect place for unwanted pests. Diane Powers told me my pictures were over the top and picky. She accused me of making this complaint to get a refund or discount (Which was NEVER mentioned or intended! We stayed the entire time we were booked). She also indicated it was acceptable to have spiders in the kitchen cupboard and living area because they can "reengineer a web within an hour". She stated this was an "Authentic Adirondack Experience". I've stayed in numerous rustic accommodations. This property was not adequately cleaned prior to arrival. Diane never apologized for her accusation and never stated she would review cleaning protocol or inspect the property herself. We loved the area and would definitely come back to the area with a property under different management.

The Looney Bin is a quintessential Adirondack Seasonal Cottage, with an adorable theme, brand new bathroom and stones throw from quiet and gorgeous Lake Luzerne (2 kayaks and carts included), pets accepted, and quick drive to all the Lake George region has to offer - a tremendous value!
This was my response to the guest when she texted me pictures the night before her last night, of exterior pictures of cobwebs and a pile of sticks, and extension cords and power supply less than 4 in from the wall, saying she would be leaving early the next day:
The Looney Bin is not for everyone, but many guests this summer have enjoyed the authentic Adirondack cottage vibe that the property oozes. Spiders are common this time of year (Sept) and impossible to eradicate as they appear quickly. Life in the Adirondacks, unfortunately. The porch is a great spot to hang out and enjoy nature, and approx to the beach, kayaks provided and opportunity to observe and hear the loons is what the Looney Bin is all about. Sorry it wasn't for you. The exterior of the house is pressure washed and maintained annually at the start of the season (May). Only lawn care weekly during rental season. The spiders can re engineer a web in approx one hour, and they are helpful in keeping other insects under control. The electric cords (one pic is a surge protector to protect the router and internet capability) are tucked against the walls and away from floor space. They also provide AC in the cottage. Re the "debris pile" - we had a severe thunderstorm last week and some branches came down and were piled. Previous guests have been using it as firepit starter and its been helpful to have available for use. I realize that not every guest is for every property. I do have other rentals in the area that allow pets, but maybe a hotel/motel that allows pets would be better suited for your needs. The Looney Bin is accurately depicted with inside and outside pictures on the listing. I won't be extending a refund or discount for your night before departure complaints and pictures about power cords, fireplace (no fires are allowed in cottage inside per lease) and exterior cobwebs. Wish you well in finding a more suitable rental in the future.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Loon-ey bin. We were there only for 3 nights, but we did take advantage of the kayaks. The lake is absolutely perfect for paddling. It was just the 2 of us so we only used the one bedroom, bed was comfortable and AC kept us cool. The bathroom looks like it was recently updated, very nice with space for our things. We cooked dinner on the propane grill each night We took advantage of the fire pit in the evenings, as well as the screened in porch for early morning breakfast and evening card games, loved it. Very convenient to stores/beaches/activities in the area.
We sadly only had 2 days in lake Luzerne but the Loon-ey bin was the perfect location for us. We were bringing students to Luzerne music centre which was really close and very convenient. When we arrived it was very late, but the entry instructions were very clear and easy to follow, which was great. The short walk to the beach was perfect and we watched the loons with fascination! We managed in out 2 days to enjoy every aspect of the Loon-ey bin, including a fire pit s’mores adventure, a nearly completed jigsaw puzzle, and meals on the front porch enjoying the peace and beauty of the trees.
If you are coming to attend concerts at the Luzerne music centre this is a perfect spot, and equally great as a base for visiting the area.
Cute cottage, great little community, our host was fantastic.... there are only 2 things I can say were a little annoying... first the bathroom door, you must use the deadbolt to keep it closed and our bedding was clean but the mattress had a musty smell too it... other than that great area, close too many sources of entertainment...
Great location! Within half an hour of everything we did this weekend. Property provided everything we need for a quiet ADK getaway. Enjoyed the screened in porch for all our meals. Appreciated having a gas grill and firewood already placed in the firepit!
The rental was pretty much what we were expecting for a lake cottage. Kayaks were a nice extra, but the trip to the beach is fairly steep. We enjoyed the peace and quiet.
We really enjoyed our stay in this rustic cabin on lake luzerne. The neighborhood is quiet and wooded with very close access to the beach. Diane was extremely helpful and responsive to questions.
