You’ll be staying in South Main River Park, a New Urbanist community being built on the Arkansas River in the town of Buena Vista. If your priorities are 1) convenient access to the area’s many recreational activities, 2) a beautiful location at 3) an affordable price, our apartment may be just what you're looking for.
You can launch a kayak, hop on a mountain bike or wear out your hiking shoes by just stepping out the front door. Just steps to the South Main whitewater launch area, kayak play hole and Whitewater and Arkansas River Trails at this affordable rate. These trails are tied to the Barbara Whipple Trail, Midland Bike Trail and Four Mile Travel Management Area. 175,000 acres of wilderness and BLM lands are your backyard. A skate park, pump track, and several playgrounds are just a few blocks away.
Shopping, restaurants, equipment rentals, drive-in theatre, Community Center, museum, town library and other amenities are within easy walking distance. The Eddyline Brewery and Restaurant is at the other end of our block. After a hard day of recreating you can either sit down for beer and fire baked pizza or you can sit in your own courtyard and watch the sunset over Mt. Princeton and the Continental Divide. Don't forget to drop by the Midland Stop for a cup of coffee and delicious gelato! Enjoy watching the kayakers and rafters running the rapids or bikers, hikers and rock climbers ascending 9600 foot Midland Hill on the other side of the river from South Main's 'Living Room Without Walls'. During summer evenings head on over to Music on the Beach, a place where you can enjoy free live music (TBD by covid restrictions).
South Main architectural standards are creating an authentic traditional neighborhood. High quality public space is designed for walking and creating community. You will be staying on the first floor of a 3-story classical style stone and stucco building. The apartment’s spacious living area and separate bedroom will sleep four easo;y. An open kitchen and dining area bring the total floor space to about 850 sq.ft. Entry is through a courtyard and large porch on the west side of the building. There is a good view toward 14,000+ foot Mt. Princeton and the Continental Divide, but none toward the River. The courtyard provides a private place for dining and socializing away from Main Street and the public square. The covered porch offers shelter and shade. Priced at less than the best hotel in town, we want to build a loyal core of vacationing guests who share our joy of living here. Our apartment is clean, homey and affordable, but not luxury living.
PLEASE NOTE: The apartment is below the main house. We have 3 young children who are home most days, but in bed on the upper floors around 7:30pm. Because of the nature of the building, you will hear typical noises of people living upstairs.

Owner was such a blessing! I screwed up my booking and lucked out that it wasn’t booked when we were planning our trip. Owner proactively called me and helped me fix it so our trip wasn’t ruined. When we got there, I have to say, the pictures don’t do it justice! Tall ceilings make this property feel extra spacious. We loved our trip!
We loved this location. Close to the river, walking trail, and restaurants. Only drawback was no air conditioning and difficult to get a cross breeze, but location, location, location!
We had a great two-night stay here! It's in a great part of Buena Vista and we stayed right across the street from the Surf hotel where we were attending a wedding. Everything was very smooth and we will certainly look to rent this place again in the future!
Loved the downtown location of this property. Close to the river, Eddyline, parks, and shops. Very clean, spacious and quiet. No complaints! We would stay here again!
My 17 year old son and I stayed one night in July as we passed through town. Great location in South Main neighborhood, easy on street parking, very clean and comfortable. A bit overpriced due to VRBO junk fees but highly recommended.

great buena vista property!!!
the property was great. it was spacious, great location, very nice and clean. we were impressed! it was really, really nice!
Beautiful condo and extremely well kept, well furnished and clean. It has all we wanted for a place conveniently located to the river and downtown. We knew nothing about BV and wanted a short visit to explore and the place was perfect.
This condo is well kept, clean, and in the newer South Main area. From the deck the view of Mt. Princeton is clear. It is well appointed and comfortable.
It was just what we needed, walking distance to everything. We were at a motorcycle event in town so able to walk every where we needed to go that wasn't a ride. Place was large even had the Rockies Baseball Channel. Couldn't ask for more. Good parking also.

What makes this property unique
South Main River Park is a New Urbanist development with access to the Arkansas Headwaters Recreation Area and Pike-San Isabel National Forest. Our "back yard" is 175,000 acres of wilderness and BLM recreation area. We can step out our front door for mountain biking, hiking, fishing, kayaking, whitewater rafting, cross county skiing, wilderness camping, snow shoeing, four-wheeling, panning for gold and exploring historic ghost towns. If I have to work, I prefer to do it in the environment of 14,000 foot mountains. There's never a bad day when you're surrounded by the towering peaks of the Sawatch, Sangre de Christo and Mosquito Ranges of the Rocky Mountains. Those same towering mountains on three sides create a protective wall for what the state climatologist calls 'The Banana Belt of the Rocky Mountains'. Winters on the valley floor are relatively warm and mild compared to the mountains around us. We actually enjoy a high desert climate with an average of 10 inches of rainfall.
