Great property and location. Exactly as advertised on VRBO. Short 10 minute walk to the lake in a quiet neighborhood. Very much enjoyed our stay. Owner was very communicative and was easy to reach and work with prior to and during our stay.

The location of this cabin was ideal for us. We love being in walking distance to the beach, having the par course close, and trailheads nearby (as well as the Old Post Office Cafe). The place is rustic, and not terribly clean, but it's a good price and the neighborhood is safe and friendly. We had everything we really needed.

Great location and stay

I stayed here for a week with my three teens and it was lovely. This is not a fancy place and it’s absolutely perfect for us. Plenty of beds, a fold out couch, patio, grill, washer/dryer. I appreciated the beach chairs too!

Cabin in Carnelian Bay

We has a pleasant stay at the house. It was comfortable for our family of six and was well stocked with laundry detergent, soap, toilet paper, etc. We stayed during a blizzard so we appreciated that the driveway was plowed regularly when the snow was heavy.

Nice cabin

Nice cabin with easy access to main road. Plenty of parking space. Outdated kitchen, but functional. I definitely would rent it again.

Overall maintenance at this property leaves a lot to be desired.Big stuff includes a boarded up window, a number of missing screens for windows and a badly torn window screen. This is particularly bad in a home that has no A/C, no ceiling fans and needs the cross ventilation. Hot water capacity cannot handle two 5 minute showers and other water cannot be run at the same time. A prior guest has taped over an electrical outlet with a note warning of crackling. The carpet throughout is badly stained and dirty. The frame on the kitchen window by the sink is badly damaged and plaster is peeling off in chunks. NO furniture was provided outside in the yard or on the front deck.Little stuff includes a non-functioning ice maker, a small ordeal getting the TV and WiFi on(29 first evening e mails and an hour a repairman mid-day the first day), some damaged wall areas, filthy outside windows with major cobweb issues, zero landscaping and no booklet about the property or area (a one page document dated 2004 with hand annotations was on the refrigerator). Finally, the listing called for a grill. We found out upon arrival that the property apparently only had a charcoal grill (missing) and they were restricted from use due to fire danger. Understandable, but this would have been very nice to know ahead of time, given preparations for a ten day visit. This home has real potential with a workable floor plan, thoughtful décor and comfortable furniture. Notwithstanding, it needs TLC!

Hi Tom, Thanks for the review. The boarded up window was due to a bear that was breaking into cabins nearby and has come through that window in the past. We did not want to chance a bear intrusion while you were staying in the cabin. I apologize about the Deck furniture. We have them stored in the shed in the back. With other tenants we have coordinated with them to get access to those items. I was not sure if you needed them. Not sure where you were coming in from. Most renters are very familiar with the area and spend most of their time boating on the lake, hiking, driving to Reno or South Lake Tahoe. Sorry that you did not have a nice stay. We will continue to make improvements to the cabin. I wonder what you would have written if you saw the 1970's stove that was recently replaced. :) Thanks, Craig

Good area and house

Very nice location near Tahoe city. Easy to communicate with property owner. I had to move around my dates, owner was dry accommodating. Have to drive 10-15 mins to get groceries, just be aware of that. Would stay again.

Great Place, affordable cost!

Cute & affordable rental home in north Lake Tahoe. Close to everything in a good neighborhood! We loved it! Can sleep 8! The owner was attentive and easy to reach. It was stocked up well better than most rentals. I read reviews about people complaining about the stove but I loved using it & had fun cooking in it! Loved the set up of the bathrooms too! Highly recommend this rental!

Cozy Family Cabin in Great Location

This comfortable older cabin felt like a longtime family cabin with generous owners: holiday decorations all around, super well-stocked, plenty of food staples in kitchen to share, laundry soap for the washer and dryer, tons of blankets, pillows, etc. Check-in and check-out was very straightforward. Owner replied to inquiry within an hour. Easy access in the snow with a fairly level neighborhood and circular driveway; short walk to lakeside beach and breakfast/sandwich shop that also rents watersport gear. Our family visited both Squaw/Palisades and Northstar; perfect location right between them.

Love TAHOE!!!

This is a great location. The house needs new carpet and a new slider to deck. Slider does not slide open very easily. Good price for what you get. I had friend's stay at this house last year and same thing, Slider and Carpet. Lots of parking. I have been coming to Tahoe for 40 years. We rented 3 houses this year to accommodate our family. If all your doing is sleeping here you will be fine. LOVE TAHOE!!!

Great place! Great value!

Really thought the place was great. Functional and affordable. Would definitely rent the home again, -It's a 1970's home that has been well maintained!!! -Layout of living room, kitchen area, dining area was great. Has a large front facing deck off the living room . Large kitchen area for prepping meals. Bedroom size great with dressers and plenty of lines. -Inside washing machine/dryer great for washing laundry on extended stays. -Storage shed has extra tables and extra chairs for deck. -The bathroom set up was adequate and served three couples with no problem. We did run out of hot water, once, for showers so recommend if every one is going to take showers watch hot water usage (we think it was because we cleaned kitchen using hot water prior to showering) -It does get warm inside the home during the day in summertime, but if open all the windows it cools down nicely in the evening. -Its a 5-10 minute bike ride or 15-20 minute walk to nearest beach. Home is up a hill so bring bike with gears or E-bike -The hosts instructions were perfect. -Only bummer about our stay,( not related to home) was there was NO Fireworks Show on 4th of July on North Lake Tahoe. The county did a drone show but you had to be in Kings Beach which we avoided. Happy Travels- The moses family

The place was large and homey, we had a big snowstorm, and the owner was a good communicator, but there were real drawbacks that need addressed. The heater would not come on for ages when it descended into a Arctic-like cold in certain rooms, but then when it did come on, it would stay on forever until we sweltering and had to take all our blankets off. The heating system and thermostats hopefully can be adjusted to come on for shorter periods of time and extra thermostats added in bedrooms. The hot water heater was not working properly when we were there. We were unable to take even a 10min shower without the water turning cold on us for our rinse off. We thought maybe it was a capacity issue, so we avoided running the dishwasher or hot water in sink for an hour before a shower but that didn't work. The owner seemed like he wanted to address it while we were there which is a plus for responsiveness, but it would have been nice if it were checked/addressed before our arrival. The oven was not working properly at all during our stay. There was some problem with the knobs. After buying an oven thermometer, we were able to approximate the temps we needed to cook Xmas dinner, but it was a hassle. Also, toward the end of our trip, I became suspicious of the oven seal that was flaking off onto the floor. After checking the model, we found out this oven likely has an asbestos seal common during this era, so we had to stop using the oven immediately to prevent further exposure.

Not That Wonderful

I think this was a good example of getting what you pay for. The house is old and it smelled that way when we first walked in. The kitchen sink was surrounded by little black bugs that we couldn’t identify. The oven and cooktop in the kitchen are ancient. We were almost afraid to use them, but they actually worked fine. I woke up every morning with my hip hurting from the bed. The sofa is small and could only accommodate three of us. There were two chairs behind the sofa on the other side of the entrance walkway. The whole layout was not conducive to a family hangout. There was one shower in between the two bathrooms which was interesting for six adults. We happened to be there during a time when the temps. got up around 80 and the house has no A/C. We were extremely uncomfortable as the front of the house felt like an oven during the day. Thank God it cools off at night, but even then we needed to place a fan in the window to get some air going through. There’s no screen on the front door and the window next to it is just a piece of glass, not a window that you can open. The house is in desperate need of updating and some repair. I hate to say so much negative, but we were just not very comfortable. The location is great and, of course, you’re in Tahoe. Mr. Rossi was courteous enough and this is one of, if not THE most affordable places in the area. My advice - don’t expect a whole lot except for the surroundings.

Great location and size, in need of TLC

Pros: This was a perfect location and size for our family, the kitchen is dated but well stocked, nice selection of pots and pains, cutlery, plates. The bathrooms were sufficient and well supplied with toilet paper, shampoo, soap, we appreciated the washer/dryer and laundry soap, adequate towels, linens for our needs. The bedrooms were spacious and beds fairly comfortable, lots of blankets for cold nights, the gas fireplace put out some nice heat and gave a cozy feel to the cabin. Graig was responsive to my email inquires and I was able to contact him by phone when I had a question. Cons: the carpet in the entry, living room area, is in desperate need of replacement, very off putting; with lots of stains, made the cabin feel dirty. Also the cabin is in need of a good vacuum cleaner. If you have a young child who would be crawling around on the floor, you might want to reconsider. The cabin overall needs a deep cleaning., dust bunnies under the beds along with a ski pass from 2020, dried food, nut shells, pieces of paper under the living room couch. We would consider renting here again if the carpet were replaced and overall cleaning was done reqularly.

Great little place located in a neighborhood minutes from everything. Open concept allows for families to spread out but still engage with each other. Bedrooms are spacious and allow for individuals to escape the open concept if desired.
