This picturesque log cabin is nestled in the hills of the Mississippi River Bluffs. Perfect for a family getaway, a romantic weekend or can be used as a hunters paradise. Easy access to the river for a fun day of fishing. With plenty of local restaurants with amazing foods, just minutes away. You can tour the bluffs, go UTV riding, or go for a walk on the many walking trails along the Yellow River and Effigy Mounds. For the wine connoisseur, visit the area wineries in Waukon, Marquette, Lansing or Ferryville. This cabin features a large yard for parking and outdoor activities along with a picnic table. We are located on a county highway, just 1 mile away from town, which is where the public boat landing is. Just on the other side of the highway, are train tracks. The trains coming through are always blowing their horn, night and day, so something to be aware of! Some people love it, some hate it. The loft homes a queen sized bed and 2 double beds. Down stairs has a couch and a 2nd pull out couch with a reading space.

Great location for hiking and seeing the effigy mounds. Plenty of little towns nearby to have a meal if you so choose. The cabin is beautiful inside with all the amenities needed for a very cozy stay. Wonderful place for a quiet getaway!
We wanted a quick, 3 night getaway that was very low key. This cabin was perfect for us! We enjoyed nearby hiking during the day and reading by the fireplace in the evening. The beds are comfortable and the kitchen has everything needed for cooking. Would happily stay here again. It is as pictured.
have a complain about the place we were reserved in Harper’s Ferry, Iowa. We ended up arriving there on the day after which was Friday morning December 20. The place was not shoveled of the snow. The entire place was cold and we could not get it to warm up and we saw only ambient heaters and they did not get it warmed up that well. We contacted the owner Carrie and she told us she would find the maintenance people. We waited and no one came. We continued to still feel it very cold. We decided that we could not stay there any longer and decided to leave. We received a text from a Kyle who said he was the owner of the place too. He said he would go and check out the place. He told us that the thermostat was apparently set down to a very low number probably by the cleaning lady. I assure you we never saw a thermostat, the place was very very cold and the bathroom was even worse in that it was colder. I advised Kyle that we would appreciate it if we were refunded our money as we never went there in the evening of December 19 due to a snow storm and we were barely there in the 20th. He said Carrie would take care of that. We have not heard from Carrie and are worried she will not honor that. I am not sure who was giving them 10/10 for reviews but if you ask me I would not even give them a 1/10 for a review. The place was cold, the snow wasn’t shoveled. I am sorry but we had been looking forward to a getaway and this is not what we expected. I would like for you t
Stayed here with my little brother and 2 friends that we met online many years ago. The place was cozy for the 4 of us, but we had just enough room at the dinner table to play cards and eat. Living room was perfect for us to watch football and TV and play video games. Kitchen & grill was perfect for us. We made authentic ramen, tacos, steaks and grilled burgers and brats. Kitchen had plenty of pots & pans and silverware and plates for the 5 day trip.
My only complaints are the train blaring thru every night multiple times and we could have used a nightlight out by the fire so we could see where we were walking. Other than that we all had a fantastic time. Thanks for letting us enjoy the cabin!
Stayed a week for my 10 year anniversary my birthday and fathers day all in one week. I've stayed at this cabin a handful of times. Cozy fits the description perfectly. I will come back for sure.
Very nice cabin. Clean and well stocked. Pictures are spot on. The beds are comfortable and lots of pillows. Loved the decor and over all feel of the place. I would recommend to anyone to stay here.
Con: very close to the highway and the train tracks. Did not bother me but just be aware. The trains at night were loud but I turned a fan on the second night and slept fine.
The cabin itself is super cute and had everything we could need. But "near the Mississippi River" is a very relative term and definitely does not mean "right next to/on." Not a huge deal for us...just a little disappointed no water view. If you love trains, this is a great spot!! Recommend doing the nearby Spook Cave boat tour...very unique experience unlike any typical boat tour we've ever done. Overall very relaxing stay. But be aware: the directions provided are not helpful. The cabin is better noted as being on Hwy X52.
This cabin and property were a perfect choice for our fishing getaway. We were a little concerned about the available space for 4 large adults in the cabin as well as two boats and two trucks, but everything turned out great. Cabin ended up being perfect. Location to the boat ramp was really good and we were able to fit our boats and trucks at the location. We would have preferred a bit more space for parking, but the road wasnt very busy and it all worked out just fine.
Cabin is stocked with all the essentials. Just bring ur luggage, food and drink. The renters provided supurb communication. Thank you for the stay.
Cabin was very cute. It was clean and very well stocked with everything one could need. Except for the trains in the night the cabin was quiet. Would recommend.
This was our second time staying here. It was just as perfect as before. I love being right on the river. Such a cozy cabin!

Fall respite
Charming cabin nestled in the bluffs on the Great River road. The cabin is situated very close to the road and the railroad tracks are right across the toad. We were awakened overnight by the blasting horns of several trains. But otherwise the cabin is insulated well enough so that you don’t hear much of the road noise. All 3 beds are in one open space in the loft upstairs. Cleanliness, maintenance and communication with the owner were all exceptional.
Perfect for the two of us! Easy to find and easy check-in. Owners have gone out of their way to have everything you might need.
There was even nostalgic train traffic across the road at 1am:-)
Highly recommend!
This cabin is very cozy and clean . Location is perfect , we brought our dogs for some relaxing quite time and hiking and got just what we wanted . Several different places to hike all within 20/30min drive . Yellow river state forest is only 4 miles away . Cabin has everything you could possibly need plus some . We followed advice from owners on places to eat and loved them all . The beds were very comfy we slept great . We will be back for sure .
