Located directly on the Mississippi River, this vacation cabin boasts an incredible view of the river and bluffs of Iowa and Wisconsin. This home sleeps 8 with 2 bedrooms upstairs each with private balconies and 1 ½ bathrooms.
The Water Street Cabin is within walking distance to wineries, shops, restaurants, and a casino. You can enjoy nature by visiting local attractions like Effigy Mounds, Pike’s Peak, or walk next door for a guided nature boat tour with Maiden Voyage Tours. Launch your own boat next door at the public boat landing to explore Pool 10. No boat, no problem. Inquire about renting a boat with Captain Chartered Boat Rentals that includes a driver and conveniently picks up and drops off right on site.
Please note train tracks run along the river and you will see and hear train activity so please plan accordingly. To be clear you will see and hear boats and barges from the front of the home and trains from the back. Water Street Cabin had everything we needed to make ourselves comfortable, cook our meals, and relax. We stayed with our 3 adult children and had plenty of space. We enjoyed the location, and getting to hot tub was a true bonus.
What a cute place to have a romantic getaway!!! The vibe is coozy, the views breathtaking!!! The town was so friendly!!! I would absolutely stay here again!!! And since everyone else addressed the train i will too. I loved it lolol!! It was part od the experience and once you turn the fans on i slept right through it!! Seeing all the barges was awesome too!!!!

Great location for exploring the area or just relaxing and watching the river and trains go by. Cabin is very comfortable and has all the amenities you could need.
Loved the house and location. So much to do in Marquette and close by McGregor. We had a great time.

Robert, your group was an absolute treat! There is nothing we love more than to see a great group of people enjoying their time together to the fullest! We agree that there is so much to do and see in the area and it makes our heart happy to share the location with others. We work hard to make sure home is clean, comfortable, and accommodating so the only thing groups have to worry about is enjoying each others company and soaking in the scenery and surroundings. We would love nothing more than to see groups like yours return again and again! Take care!
We arrived to a clean and tidy house right on the river! The views are amazing. The location is in walking distance to some fun places as well as outdoor activities. A two minute drive will bring you to McGregor, a town with charming shops and dining options. Cross the bridge over to PDC for even more dining and shopping options. A five minute drive in any direction will bring you to excellent hiking and overlook areas!
The house was lovely but the constant trains during the night kept us awake each night.

Hello Diane, We are thrilled to know you found the home lovely and that you had a wonderful stay. We do provide earbuds for light sleepers so hope you were able to locate and use. Thank you for choosing our cabin and hope to see you again!
we really enjoyed our stay but disappointed that the hot tub was not working and that's what I was really looking forward too. Booked again for June said hot tub will be working can't wait
The property was such a nice space. Quaint, clean, cozy. Great for conversations, cooking meals (well equipped), enjoying the scenery and convenience to places we explored. Loved it. Our only negative had to do with the very loud trains at night starting at about 10:00 and continuing every hour until about 4:00. It definitely disrupted sleep on night one. I actually slept through some of it on night two.

Hello Dennis!
There are nights of the month where activity is busier than others. That’s not surprising you found a night where it was busy but you found it much quieter and were able to sleep through for the remainder of your stay. It would be nice if there was a schedule or way to predict what nights will be busier than others.
We are so happy you enjoyed and found the property clean and cozy and great for conversations and cooking. The scenery is certainly the icing on the cake! Your group was wonderful and are welcome back any time.
The property is a nice little setup, clean, and well stocked. We however were very disappointed and were not able to sleep at night due to trains going past every hour all night long. And I mean all night. We only stayed for one night of our two-night visit. We emailed the host to say we were leaving and basically got a short "safe travels" reply. Lesson learned here I guess.

Hello Jeff,
The right vacation home is important and we’re disappointed if this one wasn’t for you. We work hard to make sure professional photography, descriptions, and location are all accurate so there are no surprises. When you reached out regarding the fact there are railroad tracks and you were heading out I’m not sure what response I could have given beyond what info you already had.
The experience certainly is subjective as the group next door staying the same days as you gave us a 5 star review and raved about location.
We hope to continue providing as accurate information as possible and look forward to continuing to be reviewed on clean, well stocked cabin with great fishing and riverfront location walking distance to wineries, tiki bars, and casinos. Tracks tend to run along the river so we will reiterate again this is a riverfront home between the Mississippi and tracks to prevent future 2 star reviews from the fact the property is located between river and tracks.
Thank you!
The cabin was super pretty, great decor, very comfortable and clean. The bathrooms were slightly awkward set up, especially for taller adults, and there were no basic toiletries offered like bath soap, shampoo or conditioner. For anyone who might be concerned with the train, I'll say it does run often all day and night long. It also stops often right in front of the house, which means you hear it come, and then go about 5 minutes later. This was no problem for us except at night. Anyone sleeping in the bedroom at the front of the house should be aware the noise is very loud. The people in the back bedroom were fine tho. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. Beautiful view, hot tub was great, location was perfect. Thank you Laura!

Hello Natalie, We are so happy to hear you found the home clean and comfortable. We agree the bathrooms are cozy and luckily there are 2 and we hope minimal time is needed to be spent in them. Thank you for sharing your experience with the trains in hopes it will help others. Our goal is to not have any surprises for future guests so appreciate the feedback. I'm thrilled to hear you enjoyed your stay and were able to make the most of hot tub and location!!
The location of the rental property was very appealing to us, along the Mississippi, close to downtown, it was what we were looking for. What we were not looking for were trains that would run almost on the hour all through the night, both nights that we were there. We should have known when we walked into the cabin and saw the large jars of earplugs. It was a miserable experience, it felt like the train was running through the cabin as the cabin literally shook with each passing train. There were also issues with the hot tub and other amenities within the cabin. I gave the owner the benefit of the doubt, and I contacted them prior to writing this review, their response was very disappointing. There are many other beautiful places to rent in that area, find one other than this one.

Hello Regina,
The right vacation home is everything and we’re disappointed if this one wasn’t for you. We were surprised to hear from you 9 days after your arrival as we encourage guests to reach out right away with any concerns so we can address as soon as possible. When you stated there was an issue with the toaster we would have gladly brought you one that met your needs. We were also shocked to hear you believed there was an issue with hot tub as it was heating great w the low temps and had fresh water. While we’re glad to hear you were able to use for your visit it was disappointing to hear you believed the chemicals may be off and did not reach out as that is an easy fix we would have been happy to test and adjust if needed.
As far as your concerns with privacy this certainly isn’t a private or secluded property as it is right in town directly next to the Great River Road. You had stated you wanted privacy but not secluded and stated you wanted to be directly on river but railroad tracks run along river. We will continue to make sure listing is accurate, professional photography is available, location is precise, and reviews are present so there are no surprises. Your threats of knowing an attorney, reporting to BBB, posting 1 star reviews everywhere you can find, and those colorful messages were quite confusing and I’m going to assume you were having an off day. We wish you well with the future and finding a vacation home that meets your needs Regina. Take care.
Laura was easy to work with and responded quickly. I hate to comment about how loud the train is (because it's out of Laura's control) but even sound sleepers may have trouble sleeping. Location was great to be able to experience all that McGregor, IA and Praire du Chein, WI have to offer.
