This place was perfect for our little getaway. Short drive to everywhere we wanted to go (Harper's Ferry, Marquette, PDC, Effigy Mounds). Perfectly situated on the river with a dock for our jet ski and for fishing. Very clean and we loved the screened in deck! Would stay again!
My husband and I took a last-minute getaway for his birthday. The home was really nice and right on the river. It was a quiet area for the exception of the train which was no bother. The property was near state land which allowed us to do some hiking. Just a 20 minute drive into town for restaurants and shopping.
The house was the perfect size for the four of us. (You could easily have 6-8 people.) We loved being able to walk down to the dock and fish. The second night there we caught lots of fish! The only downfall was that there wasn't any seating on the dock. Next time we'll bring our own chairs to take down with us.There is a big patio with a grill and a nice table and chair set to sit at and enjoy the outdoors and even a screened in back patio where we sat and enjoyed supper. The kitchen was stocked with all the things. The bathroom also had lots of great stuff. (Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, handsoap, air freshener, etc.)Overall a great place to stay! We can't wait to go back this fall!
Very impressive! From the view and location, cleanliness, bedding, everything I needed. Just the way I like i
Even enjoyed hearing the trains passing by.
Unfortunately, the weather turned cold the day we arrived, and was cold for the duration of our stay, so we were unable to use the nice deck area. In warmer weather, it would have been a great place to hang out. The beds were comfortable, and it was adequately heated. We did some fishing off the dock, and caught a nice bass.
what a great place to stay. Yes the trains are close, heard them the 1st. night & then no longer. It was so nice that we are going to do it again next year.
Our second time staying at this property. Enjoyed our stay. Good way the enjoy the Mississippi River. The kids love fishing off the dock! For a small cabin, the space is very well utilized. We especially like the screened-in porch.
My mom and I with my best friend and her mom came for a mother/daughter weekend. We loved the house! It was a perfect place to come back and relax at. It was convenient getting to, we loved the view, it was very clean, we had plenty of room to sit and visit inside and out, and the beds were super comfy! We had a great weekend! We would definitely stay here again!
It was a lovely stay overall. The house is comfortable and well stocked. Lovely view of the moon and the sunrise over the river. I was a little unprepared for the number of trains coming through, but they were interesting to watch.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The property was VERY clean and had everything you’d need and more! Who doesn’t leave for a getaway and forget something small and this place had all the little things. It was peaceful and while there are train tracks they didn’t bother us. The screened porch was so wonderful and our favorite feature!
The house is small but nice. Only 1 bedroom has a dresser but the other 2 have closets with hangers provided. The kitchen is well stocked with pots and dishes. But we LIVED on the deck! There was a Bald Eagle who perched right across the channel the whole time. We saw him catch a fish from the river! :o Sunrises over the river are spectacular! There's always a lovely breeze. Nice, safe little swimming hole between docks with very little current. The screened in porch is great in the evening when the 'skeeters' come out. It was a super relaxing getaway for some of my friends who work 16/7. I highly recommend!!!
Yes, as others have said, "There are trains." It's the price you pay to be on the river. Wake early to see God hand-paint the sky and magnify His work with reflection on the water, or sleep in and let eagles on the island across be your alarm clock. Then watch them grab breakfast from the river. Maybe the formation of geese flying low on the river will be your morning smile or possibly swallows swooping and darting will make your heart race. Then later, you may see six vultures... wait... white heads, make that six bald eagles circling overhead. Perhaps, the quiet strength of the mighty Mississippi will bring you peace. Did you know 1.6 million gallons flows through the Mississippi every second? So why were we talking about trains? Perhaps we like to brag about the great deal we got on front-row seats to the show.
Hubby & I came for a mini vacation. Nice property. Great neighbors. Yes, a train went by during the night. We fished during the day & spent evenings at the property. This place has everything you may need! Enjoyed our stay. Will definitely come back.

We had a fantastic stay at the Mississippi River. The trains were fun to watch and sitting on the River was wonderful.
Great location for hopping wineries and breweries. Relaxing and out of the busy city life.
We had everything needed. The grocery store was not far. Our family enjoyed our time here and relax , unwind from the daily grind. The river held its own relaxing therapy with the activities and wildlife.
