This home was even better than it looked in the photos. It's on the edge of the small town of Prairie du Chien, on an extremely peaceful quiet street, across an empty field from a small public school. The only environmental sounds were the birds, the occasional distant train whistle and the happy sounds of children playing at recess. My stay was made special by the host's attention to detail in setting up the home with thoughtful and beautiful details like an empty shelf/basket above the sink for my toiletries and luggage stands in each closet. Central air and ceiling fans in each room kept it very comfortable. The kitchen was equipped with essentials most other rentals leave out, like extra towels and rags, cutting boards, sharp knives and kitchen shears and ample food storage containers. The neighborhood is residental and no shop seems in easy walking distance, but Aldi is about a mile from the house and I enjoyed the trails and the history at the Effigy Mound National Monument about 5 miles away across the river in Iowa.
