Tucked away in the quiet and upscale Sapphire community, Whispering Pines is the ideal sanctuary for a mountain vacation. Sit back on the wrap-around porch, surrounded by the woods, the sound of birds, and the babble of a nearby brook. From the spacious great room with floor-to-ceiling windows to the fully stocked kitchen and luxurious beds, relaxation and memories will be easy. Minutes from Whisper Lake and high atop the area mountains, you'll find yourself secluded in the Nantahala National Forest, but just 10-15 minutes from beautiful Cashiers. Access to both Whisper Lake and Sapphire amenities Access to both Sapphire National and Red Bird golf courses Hike through nearby trails or enjoy Lake Glenville.
Enjoy a wood fire and listen to music on our extra-deep couch or watch either DirecTV on the 54″ flat screen mounted over the fireplace. All three bedrooms feature queen size beds with their own flat screen televisions, “Pottery Barn-meets-rustic-antique” style, and plush bedding. The master bathroom features both a shower and a jet-bathtub and his-and-hers vanities. Another full bathroom is upstairs and a powder room is downstairs. Listen to your favorite music throughout the house on our Sonos sound system. You're also welcome to use our AppleTV and Netflix accounts. Six to eight people can dine in the dining room and another two at the island in the kitchen. The kitchen features a gas stove and is stocked with all the spices, dishes, pots, pans, and other cooking utensils that we've been able to imagine that you'll need. We've also stocked the cabin with games for both young and old.
Our guests can enjoy both Whisper Lake and Sapphire Valley Master Association amenities (some with a small fee), including access to Red Bird and Sapphire National golf courses, private lake access, canoe rental, fitness center, hot tub, pool, arcade, kayaking, zip line, tennis, miniature golf, and more.
The wraparound deck provides stunning views for 270° with plentiful seating for the entire crew as well as a pathway down to a private creek. But the beauty of the Nantahala isn't confined to just our corner of the forest – so we've taken the time to outline our favorite hikes and waterfalls. We also provide our guests with our own reviews and recommendations for local restaurants, area houses of worship, nearby shopping, and services.

This place was perfect for our girls weekend. The amenities were fantastic with a full kitchen that had everything my friend needed to cook us dinner our first night. It was central to the places we planned to hike, and there were great dining options nearby. We ate at The Library Kitchen and Bar, and it was delicious! This really was a comfortable place to stay.

The house was nice and comfortable. There is a fire pit right out front. The only downside to this listing is that it states that you have access to Sapphire Valley Resort, but there is zero info on how to use the facilities. Additionally, when we went to ask the resort how to access, they let us know that the owner or listing agent was supposed to previously let them know our names/dates and they should have given us an access code. That never happened, and when I called Yonder for help, there was no answer.

The house is gorgeous! Everything inside is clean and works great! We weren't there for long but had a great time! My partner and I slept in the master bedroom and the bed is extremely comfortable and had insanely comfy/thick bedding. The couch is huge and comfortable and the bathroom jetted tub is relaxing. We hiked a local waterfall and attended a wedding in the area, but had an amazing time!

Second year in a row staying here. Loved visiting with our family, including our three young boys, for a mountain getaway. Easy access to Highlands, Cashiers and Sapphire Valley with lots to do. Beautiful and cozy home!
Comfy, cozy, clean and spacious home with everything we needed to enjoy a week in the mountains The home is located in a beautiful and private community near a private lake and park; We arrived using GPS through a back gravel road and thought it was going to be very remote, However, there is another entry point with freshly paved roads. We didn’t really have time to use the amenities at Sappire but we visited it 2 years ago and it’s nice to have a little ski area close by. My son wanted to fish/ canoe in Whisper lake but it was a bit too chilly for that. We frequented Ingles and prepared meals in their well stocked kitchen. Beds and linens were very nice and comfy. I appreciated that they provided basic supplies. It would be nice to have an extra set of sheets in the closet . We really enjoyed use of the fireplace. It was a bit too chilly to sit outdoors but they did have a little fire pit area out front. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and felt right at home. I hate when a rental feels like a rental. This place is not that.

Thanks for your review, Carlyssa. Whispering Pines is definitely a true treasure in the mountains :) We are thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your stay here, and we hope you'll visit again soon!
My husband and I enjoyed our stay at Whispering Pines near Whisper Lake. The house was nicely furnished and equipped. We had everything we needed for cooking meals at the house. The property is quiet and serene making for a relaxing getaway. We would recommend this property to others.
House was nice and clean, but keep in mind. This is really not an ideal place for those wanting any kind of Mountain View, natural sunlight, or easy access to any yard area for pets. there is no yard space for any pets you must utilize the driveway. we did ask the yonder team for amenities map for the neighborhood but they state they don’t have one available so not sure how you would get to wherever this pool is. And there was nothing about the community amenities in the welcome book.If you want a very cozy, candlelight lighting , romantic quiet house this would be the place for you. The kitchen is well stocked with equipment. The showers were nice. I can’t tell you how the back steps going down to the river are it looked slick and dangerous

Great location close to Sapphire, Cashiers and Brevard
The outdoor seating was fantastic and circled the entire house.
The house was well stocked with appliances, pots and pans, etc
We had visitors who are birders and they loved the sounds and the location of the house near the top of the trees.
Because of the wood construction you will hear the footsteps and sounds of anyone staying in the 2 bedrooms on the upper floor.
Had a brief problem getting into the house because the cleaning service had locked the doorknob but we were instructed on an alternate method to get in
Nice Cabin Inside...Outside property needs a spruce up
After trying to find the driveway- no address sign outside? and quite the over grown front drive and yard area- the cabin itself was quite nice and comfortable, better bedside lighting in the main bedroom would be helpful as it needs more light to read in bed, TV could use instruction manual, enjoyed the wrap porch and outside seating a lot, nice well equipped kitchen, had to leave garbage tied up in bags on the counter since I could not open the outside garbage can for the life of me so I was NOT ignoring your directions. Overall well equipped and comfortable and you could rent it for more if you fixed up the outside I bet!

Filthy
It was difficult finding the property. The 3 3 miles of gravel road only big enough to fit one car, but allows both sides to come, is extremely daunting in rain. The house was filthy. Two inch thick black mold in the bathrooms, floors were not even vacuumed or swept, all the dishes were dirty, the bath had dirt coming out of the jets and the heater barely worked. The only blanket they give each bed is a very large comforter, that smelled like dirty unbathed men... we froze the first night. 21 degree weather and we are from Florida. Me and THREE CHILDREN froze. Although they did bring me comforters the next day, and somehow the heater worked after they left, I was still disappointed. They pride themselves on cleanliness, but based on my pictures and video- is very misleading. Do better! I don't get to vacation much. You ruined it. All they offered was 120 refund because i didn't want cleaners there while i was on vacation. I didn't take it because they wanted me to sign a contract. This place is disgusting.

Amanda, we’re truly sorry to hear that your experience at Whispering Pines did not meet expectations. Cleanliness and guest comfort are extremely important to us, and we take all concerns very seriously. Upon receiving your report regarding the home’s cleanliness, we immediately reached out to our cleaning team and offered to send them back to address any issues, but you declined. While we understand your frustration, we did everything within our ability to rectify the situation in real time. We want to assure you that our cleaning team follows strict protocols; we checked recent feedback for this home but could not find any similar reports. That said, we never want guests to feel uncomfortable, which is why we tried to offer immediate solutions. We ultimately offered compensation after your stay, which you also declined. Though the mountain roads leading to the property are rural and can feel narrow in certain areas, they are well-traveled and well maintained. While we regret that this experience left you disappointed, we do appreciate your feedback and will continue our efforts to ensure that our guests have the best possible stays.
We loved our stay at Whispering Pines! We live on the west coast of Florida and the cooler temperature in the NC mountains was just we wanted for a mini-vacation. The house/cabin is beautiful inside. We loved the layout with the master on the first level and the kitchen, dining and great rooms all open to each other. The wood walls and ceilings and the soaring stone fireplace gave the home a really cozy feel. I really loved the wrap around deck and the comfortable seating area that faced the back woods. It was stunningly peaceful to sit out there with a morning cup of coffee and just listen to the silence. Actually, I sat on the back deck at every opportunity and spent some afternoon time reading and napping there! It was great to have a gas grill available for making meals. The kitchen was well stocked with all the needed kitchen items such as pots, pans, dishes, service ware, coffee maker (not Keurig type), etc. All the bedrooms were nice sized and the master en suite bath was perfect with a really nice step in shower, 2 vanity sink areas and a large tub. We didn't use the two upstairs bedrooms as there were only 2 of us but they were very nicely decorated and roomy as was the rest of the house. Whispering Pines is in a cul-de-sac of a neighborhood that is very peaceful and quiet and surrounded by the sights and sounds of nature. I would recommend this property if you are looking to stay in this area on western NC.
