Disliked: Cleanliness, location, listing accuracy
The grass in the back yard wete we sat in the hot tub was over our waist high. The cooking ware was pathetic teflon pans, forever chemicals no measuring cups spoons. All Black cancer causing utensils. All the spices were severely out dated no salt and pepper basic. No Tupperware with lids not enough paper towels ran out after 2 days. Ran down neighborhood. Tenant downstairs wanted us to park off to the side in the grass away from front door.
We had a good stay at Lions Loft. My 13 year old called the little cubby her own and slept in it all 3 nights. The jacuzzi was just what we needed after a long day of travel.
We consider Lion’s Loft home away from home for various reasons. We stayed here for 3 nights in the beginning of our vacation and 3 nights at the end of our vacation. The kitchen/dining room had everything you need: microwave to heat up leftovers; big fridge for our drinks and restaurant take outs; access to dinner ware; coffee maker and coffee; bar space and chairs and dining table for hanging out and eating together. The living room had a big and comfortable couch to relax and watch tv. The living room is roomy enough that my wife was able to do yoga and pilates. We were lucky to have the king bed, because in other places we stayed my wife had to sleep in another space we don’t fit comfortably. We are used to our king bedroom at home. My daughter enjoyed her own space and privacy. We thought the bear cub cave was adorable. We love the roomy bathroom space, the hot shower, and the big, comfortable bath tub. My wife took a bubble bath every night. We also appreciated the access to washer and dryer. The location is excellent. Short drives and walks to coffee place, AK thrift store, Fred Meyer, Safeway, Target, and great places to eat like Raising Caine. Our host was thoughtful making sure we are comfortable and we had what we needed. She was very accommodating on the special request we had. We will never forget this place and we will come back next time we visit Alaska. Aloha & Mahalo (Thank you)
We booked the Lion's Loft after our original VRBO listing turned out to be left listed in error. The owner kindly allowed us to book the property last minute. It is pleasantly adorned and furnished and very clean. All appliances are in good working order and the kitchen had everything we needed for our stay. The kids enjoyed the cub cave hangout nook. The beds were very comfortable and the shades kept the rooms dark at night. Check in and out was easy and seamless. I wouldn't hesitate to book the property again.
The freezer was leaking. Something in the inside back vent was dripping lots of water that got all over the floor. It is continuous dripping.
The toilet upper inside rim needed to be scrubbed better. It has poop marks. Noticed when grandson lifted the lid to urinate.
I may have left a pick satchel with earrings in it?
Let me know if upu or employee find it.
I'd love to give this place a five-star review since the house layout and amenities were top notch. The house was as described. Pros - two spacious bedrooms (one queen, one king), plus the extra kids cubby. Easy to find, easy access, great laundry facility, dual coffee maker, nice fridge and gas stove. Cons - very little in kitchen in the way of full size pans to cook a meal. A few spices and olive oil, and random dry goods, but no condiments or staples. No big deal as groceries & Walmart are nearby.
The neighborhood seems a bit rundown, but not unsafe. We didn't use the hot tub as there was no privacy from view of neighboring houses. The downstairs neighbors were friendly. Not sure if something was going on the days we were there, but they opened the garage door at 3am and noisily banged connecting doors and talked. If you're a light sleeper, I would look for a house where you're renting the whole thing, not just one floor, as in this instance. (Yes, this was clearly disclosed in the property description.)
Katie was an excellent host and was able to assist me when I could not locate the access code for the door. She resent all the relevant details to my cell phone and gave me quick tips on what to do and not do. She was awesome! I'm sure if we had been there longer and I had notified her of the noise issue, she would have helped come to a resolution.
We loved Anchorage! Take a drive down Turnagain Arm to Portage to the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center.
Lions Den is bright, clean and comfortable. Lots of room, huge tv, and great beds. Nice Mountain View from living room. Downstairs tenants were quiet. As others have noted, kitchen could be better equipped and hot tub area isn’t very attractive. Unhoused people were a noticeable presence in the neighborhood, however the home itself felt very secure.
Overall nice. We love a comfortable bed and hot shower. Hair dryer was not present. The door handle was locked so after a long day of travel, we stood in the rain trying to locate the number to call. Other than that it was a nice place to relax after a long day of site seeing.
Loved our stay here! In Alaska to celebrate my parents’ 60th anniversary, and it was so nice to have a “home base”, each couple had our own bedroom, and a living room for my mom to hang out in when she wakes up at 5:30 a.m. We didn’t cook but the kitchen is well stocked. We had a question when we arrived and got a reply within 10 minutes! Just a lovely, lovely place to stay in Anchorage!
Owner had absolutely everything we needed for our family stay. Well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds and pillows, and not a speck of dirt anywhere. Laundry is shared, but available and clean/well functioning. Would definitely come back!
We had a staycation here with a visiting friend. This was a very quiet neighborhood, and we felt safe and we able to rest and enjoy the space. The TV was easy to use, the wifi worked well for remote work. The space is decorated beautifully. It was clean. A couple notes - the washer and dryer are in the garage where the tenants park. And the kitchen accessories are pretty basic for your future planning :) The neighbors were mostly very quiet except for one morning as they left for work.
Overall this was a great place to stay for a couple nights while we explored anchorage. Three things: 1) There was damage to the “rock wall” used to access the loft area where our daughter wanted to sleep. This was due tot he anchors not being in a wall stud, easy to see it had pulled out at some point. This made us cautious to let her use the rock wall as we didn’t want to cause more damage. 2) There was a roof leak coming in the microwave vent onto the peninsula, I messaged the host about this but never recieved a response. 3) There were dishes in the dish washer., in order to insure they were clean we washed them again.
Overall very minor things and we would stay again.
