Quiet, Spacious with Private Backyard and Garden. Comfy, full kitchen, games!

Athenais, it is unfortunate that you choose to leave a poor review due to being caught breaking the house rules, and outright lie on the condition of the home. For any future renters I will respond. Athenais booked the home 4 months in advance and in order to do so, had to agree to the terms of NO PETS and NO PARTIES no exceptions. They had plenty of time to reach out and ask if we would allow dogs in the home or to find a dog sitter for their trip. They did neither. We do have security cameras on the outside of our home for security which is disclosed in the listing. We have a smart home and lock entry - as many other renters have struggled with this - we check the cameras when folks arrive to ensure they make it in the door. We do not watch the cameras beyond this. As they were standing at the porch for some time, we started turned on audio to see if there was an issue. This is when they were speaking about how to sneak in their dogs - not how to get in the house. They then proceeded to carry dogs in underneath towels. As it was NY Eve, I had to cancel my dinner plans to deal with this situation. We kindly asked only for the dogs to be removed but allowed the folks to stay so they were not put out on a holiday after traveling. VRBO's policy would have been to call the renters, ask them to vacate the property and not refund them, as they broke the contract by breaking the house rules they accepted upon booking. We did not do this, and instead put ourselves out, which is why I am surprised by the angry review from Athenais and their group. It seems we should have contacted VRBO and proceeded to have them removed. For the comments on the home status: *This is our primary home, there are closets that are locked off to renters but that should not be needed as they are for storage space. We do this to create a space that feels like it is yours while you stay. *Check-out is listed as 10am in the listing. *The house was built in 2004 and that is when the stairs were built, we only replaced carpet and the vinyl floors downstairs in June - so there is no construction still happening in the home. I am not sure how they had issues walking on the stairs as they are standard. *We have blackout curtains on all windows facing other houses which can been seen in the listing photos. We also have mirror-tinted windows. *The communication to Athenais was asking on the trip, letting them know we left out snow shovels due to the weather, check-in information, house rules, and reminder for check-out - so standard rental communication. *We are super hosts on Air bnb with 4.9 stars and great reviews. We genuinely care that our guests have a wonderful experience, and strive to have a very clean, bright home with everything needed for your staycation or for all your Bend adventures. I believe that if Athenais did not break the house rules, they would have been able to enjoy the time and would not have had this experience.
