About David Simmonds
I first moved to San Diego to go to San Diego State University and landed in Mission Beach, thinking 'why would I ever want to leave here'. My wife and I lived in the house for many years and we will always keep it as it is instead of building condos on the property. We will return to the house at some point, but for now we enjoy having others enjoy the beach life.
David Simmonds purchased this House in 1990
Why David Simmonds chose Mission Beach
One thing that attracted me to buy this house is its location so close to the beach and boardwalk. And it is a single family home with no attached homes, on its own lot. We also loved the historic value in an era when so many others are building new condos.
What makes this House unique
Having a single-family house on its own lot is a huge benefit. There are no common walls and you aren't sharing the yard with anyone. The proximity to the boardwalk and sand is a big plus, too, for a fraction of the price of the oceanfront properties which have very little privacy.

Excellent home away
We had a great time at David’s property! We had everything we needed. Will definitely stay again if we go back to mission beach!
We enjoyed being able to walk to coffee in the am and an evening meal at a local place.
This is a Real beach cottage
Not a shiny new place, outside is shingled, small bathroom, cold inside (Feb). With that being said, the location is terrific. 5 minute walk to Belmont Ark, which is beautifully redone. Owner is very responsive to your needs.
Comfortable beach cabin with great location!
We loved staying at this cabin with our two young boys. Great proximity to Mission Beach with all your beach equipment included. The cottage itself is cozy, it looks just like the pictures, and has great character. The beds are comfortable with extra blankets and space heaters for chilly nights. Bring your own shampoo/conditioner. This was exactly what we were looking for to enjoy some winter sun and beach time, we would definitely stay here again.

Cute little beach house
This is a cute little old school beach house. It's not big, but it's nice, and there's a ton of sand toys and other beach related stuff available. The beach is maybe a minute walk away until you hit actual sand.
We've stayed here a bunch of times when one family member is in the area for work and it's pretty much the ideal location to be able to tag along with the kids. In addition to the beach Belmont Park is a couple of blocks over and they have some good rides. There's quite a few decent places to eat in the area. And there's pretty decent freeway access if you want to go anywhere else.
5 minutes to Sea World, ten minutes to San Diego Zoo, ten minutes Downtown Gaslamp Quarter, 10 minutes to La Jolla, 5 minutes to many bars and restaurants.
