This is a perfect cabin for a stay in family bonding vacation. There are many board games and table games to play. The kitchen has the basics. If you are cooking for a larger family i would recommend to bring your own pots or pans. They have some but are just on the smaller size.
We had a great time at this property. We don’t do a lotta VRBOs, so didn’t know garbage bags and dish detergent for dishwasher are a must. Bring them here. This property is not near grocery stores, so come prepared. Also, wood. You wanna burn a fire? There is a gas station a mile down the road from NOC. You can buy cheap wood there. The NOC wood is way more expensive. The hot tub, the log cabin and all the scenery make this an ideal property. Great beds, great kitchen, great entertainment in house (ie. dart board, pool table, foos ball). We absolutely loved it as did the kids!
Amazing stay, the cabin was clean and had all the amenities listed! The view was great and we had a lot of privacy! We also played pool and enjoyed the upper part of the cabin. The host was also very responsive and attentive, would definitely recommend!
Its a clean and lovely house. The kitchen and bathrooms were well stocked. The jacuzzi and views were amazing. Its very remote so use the directions and coordinates given to you. I hope to be back again.
Overall, cabin was great. Had one issue with the hot tub being dirty but was addressed fairly quickly and someone came out to clean it. Great view and the rest of the cabin was very clean. I would suggest that curtains or blinds be put up in the master bedroom. Not a lot of privacy if someone is outside.
The view from the porch is stunning. The house is clean and the host is responsive. The hot tub was too dirty to use and unfortunately couldn't be cleaned during our stay for use. We were credited for that inconvenience.
The cabin was nice. It was not convenient to shopping and restaurants. The road going into cabin did not have road signs and gps did not work going up. Thankfully a local gentleman stopped and helped us up to the cabin. When we arrived the code to open the door that was sent to us did not work. Called owner twice before we were able to get in. Will not be going back to this cabin. G
For the most part the stay was great. Two things to point out: The digital door lock issues was a pain and the access key lock code ,459, did not open the lock. Second, there is no street sign for Taylor Rd. And mentioning the church would have been helpful.
The property needs TLC, upgrades to bed, and lamps are falling apart. The ceiling fan did not work. The shower had mold and decaying grout. The jacuzzi was filty, it had black sludge floating and stuck to the bottom of the floor. The curtains are ripped possibly from the sun. The deck had spiderwebs and major insects on all over. The fencing that surrounds the front was busted and on the ground. There were black snakes every afternoon near my vehicle. The persons before me, must of had a dog, because there was dog hair all over my clothes but mostly the floors. The cleaning person was there still and I arrived only twenty minutes early since check in is at 4:00, I previously requested an early arrival but of course you cannot reach the host. I notified the host of my complaint but he just ignored it and responded with giving me directives to clean up for the next person.
We arrived not too long before sunset when the sun was hitting the mountains just right. That was a million dollar view for sure. The drive up wasn't too bad. DO NOT use Google. Use Solomon's directions and after the first time, you won't need them at all. Since the first road is just across from the NOC you will cross the Appalachian Trail every time so if you want to log some time on the AT it's right there.
The property was exactly as stated and was well stocked with everything you need. A note to all renters everywhere: If you use up the propane tank on the grill, please let the property owner know instead of letting the next person find out. We replaced it and Solomon made it right immediately. The previous renter left us scrambling to find other dinner plans the first night. The only big issue we had was that the hot tub was out of commission our entire stay. Repairs were attempted but not successful due to much deeper issues. Solomon tried his best and we still made the best of it.
The bed was fantastic, the furniture very comfortable, the downstairs shower was NICE. We didn't use the pool table or anything else upstairs much. One thing to know, the TV is all streaming and the internet can be a little slow so be prepared to adapt. Small thanks for previous renters who stayed logged in to some streaming services. :)
It's a great place and when everything is up and running you won't be disappointed in October Sky.
Our family had the best time at the October Sky cabin. It was very clean and had everything we needed. Solomon was a wonderful property manager and even gave us recommendations on things to do and checked on us during our stay. The views of the mountains were awesome and there were so many things to do within a short driving distance.
I booked the cabin for a mother/daughter trip. We love being in nature. The cabin was serene, surrounded by trees, and had the most breathtaking view of the mountains beyond. The cabin is spacious, yet cozy. It was perfectly clean and comfortable. We had all we needed when we returned from rafting the Nantahala, hiking, and visiting Bryson City, and Cherokee. We never wanted to leave!
The cabin was perfect and just as advertised. The views were amazing. We were looking for a quiet place to spend the week and this was definitely it. In 5 days we only saw people in the area a couple of times. Perfect get away and the area around the cabin was just beautiful.
October Sky was a perfect get away. It was just as described in the listing. The view from the front deck was quite memorable. Very clean and nicely decorated. Enjoyed the hot tub while looking out over the mountains. Would recommend.
