This brand new luxury remodel is a 2700 square foot Beachside Hawaiian Style home and is absolutely amazing! one of the highest quality vacation rental homes in Kailua. Ideally located just steps from the sand in the heart of Kailua. Great location 3 houses down from Kailua Beach Park, walking distance to Island Snow and the famous Buzz's Steak house with a perfect white sand beach 1 minute walk down a private access on this private, quiet beachside street.

Wow… where to start…”Lihikai” is more than a house, it is the Aloha spirit of the islands. Everything is beautiful and so well designed and thought through. Almost impossible to describe how amazing the house has turned out… And out time here, from sunrises, pickleball, beach time, the trades blowing through the palms, amazing stars, perfect pool temp, Buzz’s, driving in the Moke, Kite Foils, Haleiwa Joe’s Prime Rib, Ono on the grill, Rib Eye’s on the grill, feet in the sand and water, blue/green beautiful ocean water, Sadie! We have rented other houses in Kailua over the years. Lihikai was by far the most luxurious property we have stayed at. The care that went into every detail was evident. We walked on the beach, swam in the pool, went into Kailua town, toured Manoa Chocolate, had lunch on the Windward side (Waiahole Poi Factory! Yum!). We visited The Local General Store in Honolulu for amazing pastries and local meat, had cocktails at Podmore, visited the Bishop Museum, and had dinner at our friend's house on Tantalus. Honestly, it's my dream to one day live in Kailua to be nearer to my daughter.

Amazing Place!

We had such a great time in Hawaii. The property is amazing. It's up-to-date, clean, and close to the beach. The owners were quick to respond and very friendly. The house is really close (4 houses away) from the neighborhood access to the beach. We were told by locals that this is one of the best beaches on the island! It may appear that the house is away from some of the tourist attractions but the drive is worth it to stay here. Plus, the drives were really pretty! We would not hesitate to rent this home again. Our family consisted of seven people with ages ranging from 9-80 and we had everything we needed. Thanks to the owners for sharing their home with us for our family trip!

My extended family and I rented the house for 2 weeks. Everything was there that you would need - the kitchen cabinets were labeled with its contents. We really were steps from the beach and the beach was very private. The house is located within walking distance of a market (where they have everything from sandwiches to t-shirts), the kids walked to island snow for snow cones, and there's BBQ and pizza there too. Any small issues we had were taken care of quickly (the TV in the Master needed a cable box and John had one overnighted). We loved the proximity to everything; pretty much 30 mins within anything you'd like to see. We didn't see a clothes line which would be nice for wet bathing suits -- but with that view we didn't mind.

Some Improvements

The location to Kailua Beach is the greatest thing. Some things could be improved. 1 The outdoor mat by the sliding doors to the house sits in a low spot. When it rains or when the sprinkler runs, the mat stays wet. A wet mat means wet feet when you enter the house. That mat should be raised on something so it can stay dry. 2 All the mats throughout the house should be taken outside and shook before each stay so that sand and debris are not in the mats. 3 You should put ArmorAll on the outside of the Pull-Down Hose for the kitchen sink. It will make it slide in and out easy.

Wonderful location, great home for our multi-generation vacation

Our family of four plus my parents enjoyed an amazing two weeks in this lovely home. Every day time was spent in the pool and at the beach which is literally a few hundred feet away. We really enjoyed the pool in the evening when we didn't want to get sandy again but need a quick refreshing dip before or after dinner. My parents enjoyed having a detached master, my two teens each got their own room, and the generous living space was more than enough for meals, and time together. The yard was more lush and beautiful that the pictures show, with birds, lizards and day geckos running around all day. The home has everything we needed in the kitchen to cook and serve, very well stocked. The island of Oahu was a wonderful destination as well. We highly recommend taking a full day at Pearl Harbor. Our children are old enough to appreciate the historical and human aspect of that tragic day. Amazing day at Hanauma Bay for snorkeling, we watched a regatta at Waimanalo Beach, went to the fish auction in Honululu, ziplining at Kuoloa Ranch, surfing in Waikiki and Haleiwa, hula lessons and haku lei making at Turtle Bay Resort, farmers markets in Kailua on Thursdays and Sundays are not to miss, and a few days of doing nothing but swim and boogie boarding. Kailua Beach is clean, the sand feels like flour, never very busy and close enough you can go for an hour or all day...a very special place. John had great recommendations for the local restaurants and shopping. Foodland was our grocery goto. They make 14 kinds of poke fresh every day!! Island Snow got quite a bit of our money :) And we celebrated my dad's 80th at Roy's Hawaii Kai. In Haleiwa, I highly recommend Rajanee Thai...very small restaurant, BYOB, but the food was amazing. Thank you John for the wonderful rental and great customer service provided by your caretaker (also John). We hope to return!

The Perfect Place

I have rented VRBO and Air BnB's all over the world and have never stayed in the same place twice. I do this because I like to try new places. This house is the exception, and I just returned from second visit. I also have been to Hawaii over 20 times, but I don't think I will go anywhere else the next time I visit. This house, its location, and Kailua are perfect. Both times we traveled with a large party including my three young children. The location of the house to the best beach in Hawaii is fantastic. You step out into the quiet cul de sac and travel down the short and delightful path to the beach. The house provides beach chairs, boogie boards, coolers (although we found it easier to take the short walk home to eat). The beach is so long and beautiful (approximately 2.5 miles). I enjoy running and ran the length of the beach nearly every day. There is also a nearby bike path for a longer run or walk to another beach that is beautiful too. The kids loved the short walk to Island Snow for a daily shave ice. The same mall has pizza and kayak rentals. There is a nice steakhouse Buzz's that is also a short walk. Kailua town proper is 1 mile from the house and has many restaurants. It has a Whole Foods, Foodland, and several specialty grocery/wine stores in the same little area. The Thursday night farmer's market is fantastic, with music, local farmers, and a wide variety of food vendors (sushi sliders, Pho from the Pig and the Lady, island fare). There are several great hiking trails nearby, and it seems like everything else is 1/2 hour to 45 minutes away (airport, Waikiki, Pearl Harbor, North Shore). The house itself is a 60's style beach bungalow, that has been updated with a lightened interior. It's design is great for large parties, allowing for people to have removed quite spaces and comfortable shared spaces. The pool is lovely. It is heated (which is hard to find), has a relaxing fountain sound when the kids aren't having a blast in it, and is bigger than it appears in the pictures. The table in front of the pool is shaded and perfect for meals during the day. The yard is beautifully landscaped with tropical flowers. John is helpful, easy to deal with and very responsive. This is a perfect place for a relaxing vacation

Wonderful house

My wife and I, along with our teen daughter and senior parents thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Perfect location. One minute walk to the beach. Easy to navigate for everything! Pool was awesome. The furniture in the common areas are not comfortable and that it the only negative I can write. Everything else was the best!! Thank you for opening up your home to us. We would definitely stay here again.

Hawaiian comfort

Lihikai House epitomizes the old Hawaiian comfort with modern amenities. Comfortable beds, nice kitchen with all of the tools one might need, AC if one needs it, and a lovely pool for those of us who are ancient and can no longer walk the beach comfortably. For the two of us who were raised in Kailua and Lanikai many years ago, it was the perfect place to start our trip down memory lane.

Location Location Location

This location couldn't be better - just steps to magnificent Kailua Beach and on a quiet cul de sac.. The lovely pool was a bonus. The house is spacious, comfortable and bright. Some updating of kitchen and bathrooms might be considered. The beautiful yard is so large, it could accommodate an additional outdoor seating area which would make this rental perfect.

Location, Location, Location!

The house was beautifully decorated, although the furniture was uncomfortable. It was well supplied with all that we needed for our family. The pool was perfect and the yard was beautiful and well maintained. The beach was within steps and my family loved the beach and the little market close by. They went there for coffee and breakfast often during our stay. I rated the check-in with 4 stars only because the old fashioned lock boxes used there made locking and unlocking the doors much more difficult than necessary. A simple keyless lock that can have the code changed for each new group of guests would be much easier for check-in and for daily use. Overall, we loved our stay and would definitely rent again if we all return.

Kailua Beach and town worth staying

We had a family get together ... weather did not co-operate first few days (Rain & Clouds). Walk is 5 minutes to beach out of Cul-de-sac to public access entrance. Nice beach - gets morning sun. House is larger than pictures indicate, great house with all amenities including beach toys, chairs etc. Pool not heated so it was chilly due to the weather. Town center is 5 minute drive, not really walkable. Lots of restaurants, groceries etc. Enterprise Car Rental in town. Half hour drive to Honolulu. Near house is Buzz's Steak House and a pizza joint (Bob's). Worth the stay.

Fabulous House

We had a great time- the house is very conveniently located to the beach= easy walk and then it was nice to come home to the pool. Loved the outdoor shower. The Market and snow cone place right down the street was very convenient. The house had a great family room dining room area. We loved the Kalapawai Cafe and Deli in town and Cinnamon's Restaurant which we walked to. In Honolulu we went to Tanaka's which was good too. Will definitely want to return to enjoy this great house. Aloha!

Wonderful Kailua

This wonderful home was perfect for a our family get away. The owner and local property manager were a pleasure and everything about the house was accurate and in great shape. KAILUA PERFECT GETAWAY

This property is amazing and has plenty of room for 8 people. There is a beautiful backyard, amazing pool, and a detached room off the pool making it private from the rest of the house. This property is steps from the beautiful beach of Kailua, and wishing walking distance of Buzz's steak house and the general market. We really enjoyed our stay and John was very communicative and welcoming. Its exactly what we were looking for to relax and step back from life. thank you John!

Great House in quiet neighborhood

We LOVED this house. Open floor plan. Beds were comfortable. Beach was just steps away. We woke up and walked the beach at sunrise everyday. There were 7 of us and it did not feel too crowded. I had to work in the mornings on video calls and my oldest son had college classes and the internet worked great even with us both on at the same time. Pool was perfect with a big back yard. If you have young kids or are looking for a quite get away this is the perfect spot. Loved that there were games and puzzles already at the house and we did most of the hikes suggested by the owner. We would definitely come back and stay here again

Wonderful house with everything you need

This property is nestled in a nice quiet neighborhood with quick access to the beach and a five minute drive to anything in Kailua. Superbe propriété, grande,super bien équipée, dans une résidence tranquille. Accès à la plage direct . Près de tous commerces et restaurants. We were thrilled with this rental! We are so glad we found this very clean, well-appointed home that's just a two-minute walk from the beach. We found everything we needed to make us feel at home in Hawaii, including beach equipment, a fully loaded kitchen, and very comfy beds. Our kids especially loved a few of the card games we found! The pool was clean and refreshing. The outside shower is such a smart addition to keep sand from getting in the house. We loved that we were centrally located to downtown Kailua Town - getting groceries or dining out was just a short drive away. We can't wait to visit again!

Perfect property!

My husband and I and our two adult children stayed here for one week, and it was absolutely perfect! The House location is spectacular, just minutes from one of the most beautiful beaches that we have been to in all the Hawaiian islands. During the weekdays it was never busy. We also loved the location of the house as we made day trips every day and it was an easy drive to everywhere. Regarding the house, it was spectacular. Very private and quiet with every amenity you needed. I would highly recommend staying at this little patch of paradise.

Amazing location and comfort in Kailua

We spent a month at this property and loved every moment. We are a family of five (8, 15, 18) and had our moms come to visit and there was plenty of room to spread out. I kitesurf so the location couldn’t be any better. The beach is very easy to access and we spent most of our time playing there, talking long walks, and goofing around. Town and all its restaurants and shops are just a short three minutes. But if you need a quick sandwich, shave ice, pizza, or milk, you can walk to the market just around the corner. The fans, AC, and pool were lifesavers on hot days. The place is very clean and is as pictured and described. John the caretaker was super helpful and very responsive. HIGHLY recommend this place!!

Welcome to my beach home in Kailua! I was born in California so Hawaii has always been an easy spot to come and visit. After traveling here many times I finally decided to make this my second home! I visit 4 or 5 times a year and always wish I could stay longer. I currently live in La Jolla California so it's not a bad second place to home base but I still prefer Kailua. Lihikai is set up as my personal residence so the furniture and appliances are nicer than most rentals. I hope you love it as much as I do and find a special memory to save each time you visit.

Why they chose this property

Love Kailua beach and the community! My house was built over 5o years ago by a famous Hawaiian architect, this home a tropical oasis tucked away on this beachside private street, you simply cannot beat the location. It's close to everything yet very private! You will find Kailua is an easy town to navigate and my home is smack in the middle of the best part of beach yet close to town as well. Everything you may need is 5 minutes away, from groceries to restraunts to shopping, kailua has it all. I love the fact that I can be on the beach in a minute, head over to the famous Kalapawi market and back at the house if I need something all in just a few minutes. I spend a lot of days paddle surfing, kiteboarding, swimming or just lounging in the pool or reading book on the beach. The home's open floor plan really lends itself to using the outdoors from the cooking grill deck to the pool lanai and outdoor shower, you will not want to leave.

What makes this property unique

I am an avid water person and love to paddle, dive, kite surf, snorkel, swim. The location of this house is perfect if you love the beach and want some peace and quiet! No street noise, just birds and ocean. I love taking outdoor showers also so I built a nice beach style hot and cold shower on the side of the house! The way the house is arranged makes you love it the minute you walk in! There is an open comfortable feel and great vibe that says Hawaii. It's definitely not a new house so it has its quirks and creaks but I know you'll love it as much as I do!
