Close your eyes and imagine - You're sitting on your patio, listening to the waves crashing just 100ft (30m) away. You head to your private yard to relax on the lounge chairs by the private plunge pool. You grab your snorkel gear and head to the calm waters of Playa Ocotal. Don't bother putting on your shoes; just open the gate and walk right onto the sand.

Guests have private use of the home, as well as the private yard and plunge pool. There is also a shared, oceanview pool are with covered seating areas and lounge chairs.

Los Almendros is a gated community on the beach in Playa Ocotal. There is a guard that lets guests in and out of the property and shared amenities like a large pool with oceanviews, loungers and covered table areas.

Guests will be most comfortable with a rental car or golf cart for their stay, which we can assist with!  While it is walkable around Playa Ocotal, most shops and restaurants are located in Playas del Coco. We do not recommend this home without a rental car or private driver.

Great location for a quiet beach stay. We loved the direct access to the beach, less crowded and only a short drive to Coco for more restaurant options. We also enjoyed cool bird watching and wildlife sightings right from the deck. Father Rooster is a fun restaurant just a few minutes walk and the snorkeling was also great!

The location of this house is perfection if you enjoy a cute beach that's not in a super tourist-y location. Just a few steps to a pretty beach with decent snorkeling and a nice on-site restaurant.Hosts were very responsive and pleasant - would totally stay here again!

What a phenomenal stay! Right on the beach of Ocotal, with amazing backyard beach access. Great location to access all the incredible nature that Guanacaste has to offer. Rich Cost Vacations was a great host with extremely useful concierge services. Highly recommend!

Excellent Location!

The location is fantastic! The property is just steps away from the beautiful black sand beach. The check-in process was very easy, and we appreciated that there was security on the property at all times. There were some issues with gutters coming loose due to heavy rain, but management responded quickly to ensure everyone's safety and protect the property.

Perfect snorkel beach getaway

This place was steps from a soft black sand beach with excellent snorkel opportunities. Restaurant also steps away. The kitchen was fully stocked and we really appreciated the cooler.

The host was very responsive and handled all questions and issues quickly and professionally. We really appreciated the direct beach access, and the Ocotal Beach area itself is beautiful. Father Rooster’s nearby was a perfect bonus.That said, the unit would benefit from updates. The pool area was difficult to fully enjoy, as there was only one usable beach chair and another that was broken. There were two foldable umbrella chairs and some beach items stored in a closet, which was a nice touch.The flower beds contained broken building materials such as light fixtures, paint sticks, and boards, which took away from the overall appearance. With six people, the unit would feel quite crowded.If direct beach access is a priority, this unit may still be worth considering. I will note that The unit was very clean, and the extra linens were greatly appreciated.

Really great location. I wanted ON the beach and this is that. The place was clean and functioned great for three single travelers. Some downsides were the lighting (no lamps in two out of three bedrooms and we are all avid readers). Only lighting in most spaces are the bright ceiling fan lights. I found the twin beds to be uncomfortable but the kings were reported to be fine. There’s no floor mats/rugs at entrances for the constant onslaught of black sand. We found a broom and swept a bit! Kitchen is poorly appointed, especially given that there’s only one restaurant within walking distance. We had a golf cart rental and bought groceries only to discover one single, very damaged non-stick pan to cook eggs. The community pool is really lovely for a quiet nap or swim when the ocean is too much. The personal pool was not desirable. Playa Ocatal is really beautiful and we were pleased with the location. Amazing tide pools, a beach vendor w snorkels, and some good local life happening. You will need a vehicle to get up to Playa Coco. Tons of good restaurants, bars, and grocery options there. Just a few mins north.

Nice house, perfect location

My wife and I stayed here with our mothers. There was plenty of room for everyone and we all felt very safe. Although the house is very nice, the real highlight was the location! Right on the beach, excellent snorkeling on both sides. The hosts offered to help set up excursions for us but we spent most of our time swimming and snorkeling right in front of the house! The plunge pool was also a nice, shaded dip in the afternoon. We enjoyed our stay!

Wonderful Beach Stay

Enjoyable beach stay that met our expectations: steps to ocotal beach and restaurant; magical Sunsets and close drive (via our rental car) to Coco. Place was clean with minimal snorkel gear but have rentals available, no binoculars but bird watching from the porch is nice and easy to use gas grill for our meals/ comfortable beds and good TV/ kitchen but need your own groceries and have option for grocery delivery. Nice Location Close to the Beach

The best thing about this was its location close to the Beach. It could use some TLC regarding some doors that stuck and would not close properly. The upstairs bathroom shower and wc area was very small and hard to maneuver in. It could be improved by some better furniture around the pool area. The beach bar within walking distance, Roosters, was overpriced and just o.k. There are better options at Coco Beach. Marlin Del Ray Sailing was great.

Wonderful stay at a beautiful beach

My family (kids 13 and 10 years old) had a great stay at this home. The home itself provided everything we needed and we had plenty of space to spread out. The balcony was my favorite place to be. I kept the Birds of Costa Rica book on the table and enjoyed trying to identify the many colorful birds. It was very relaxing and we felt completely safe throughout our stay. Having the beach only steps away made our days so much easier. I chose this beach after a lot of research and we enjoyed it very much. The tide pool with lots of fish was a huge highlight for the kids. We also enjoyed how uncrowded the beach was and the beautiful sunsets. I would definitely recommend this home to anyone looking to stay at a beautiful beach away from the crowds.

Perfect house on the beach

My family had a wonderful stay at the house. It is steps off the beach. The location is perfect. The house has some snorkeling gear and water toys. The beach is black sand and can be very hot (bring water shoes). There is terrific snorkeling along the rocks to the right when you go out the back door. The community pool is close just up a flight of stairs. My family loved walking to Father Roosters at night for dinner. The beds were extremely comfortable. The upstairs bathroom is a bit tight but not a problem. We had a wonderful 5 days here and will hook again when we are in Costa Rica.

A small slice of Paradise.

The property is located on a beautiful blacksand beach in a quite cove. It is as clean, vibrant and romantic as it looks in the pictures. Internet and cell phone connection in this area is very poor. Consequently, the entertainment facilities in the house do not work as they rely on wifi that does not work. Fortunately, this area is so rich with things to do, you will hardly notice. The booking and check in process was easy and communication with the property manager was prompt and professional. I have already recommended this location to several of my friends. This was a great place to spend a vacation.

Check-in was easy. Wi-fi access is excellent. Our transportation arrangements from and to the airport were excellent. This unit needs a lot of TLC. It is right on the beach, which is wonderful, but the house itself is probably all original and dated. We were there for a month. The area is immediately next door to one of the best restaurants in the area, and walkable, which we loved. The property management company was difficult to communicate with. I could not get them to answer their phone - they only wanted to communicate via text. The living room air conditioner did not work, and I had to reach out 4 times to have to fixed properly. The VRBO listed the property management company as offering services to arrange tours, etc. We had to go to other sources for assistance, as the property management company only sent a list and would not answer their phone to discuss arrangements and answer questions. The area was great but you will need a mode of transporation to get around (we had a golf cart which works fine as long as you don't want to venture into the hills around Ocotal.

Fabulous Family Getaway

This property was great! The owner and management team were so accomodating and quick to answer all questions. We had everything we needed and utilized the pool and beach toys available. We loved being just steps away from a perfect family beach. Our kids (aged 2-11) loved snorkeling and playing in the tide pools and in the waves. The air conditioning and fans kept the property nice and cool and we all slept well. I loved having morning coffee on the deck watching and hearing the waves. Just steps down the beach from this property is a restaurant Father Roosters. It was a great location and good food but if you’re looking for authentic Costa Rican cuisine we'd recommend the Soda Jardine in Coco. It's right off the beach and the guys running it are lovely! We loved Playa Ocotal but also enjoyed other beaches nearby. Playa Hermosa is also beautiful and has nice gentle waves for kids. We highly recommend this property and would stay here again!

Beautiful Oceanfront Property

My family of 5 stayed at this beautiful location for 10 days in June and loved it. The property is right on the beach. The beach is not crowded and has warm water. There are also some tide pools at this beach. A short walk down the beach is a great, fun restaurant called Father Rooster. The house is very well maintained, with all the amenities you need. It is upgraded and has fans and a/c units in each room to keep you cool. The plunge pool is great to cool you down as well. Very close to restaurants and stores. The management company is excellent. They communicated with me very quickly from the day that I booked until the day that I checked out. The day we arrived there was a power outage in Ocotal which caused our internet to go out. They sent a technician out and had it fixed in no time. I highly recommend this property and hope that we can visit it again when we return. Pura Vida!!!!
