About this property
Lakefront Glamping Tent w/ensuite bathroom, King Bed, Fabulous View, near Acadia
Glamping Downeast - Experience Galamping while exploring Acadia in "Precipice," our luxury Glamping Tent. With a King Bed, an ensuite bathroom (with a real flush toilet!), and a fabulous view, Precipice is located in the heart of Downeast Maine. Deep in the woods and at the edge of the lake, you will feel like you are a million miles away yet we are conveniently located just 10 miles from historic Ellsworth (the gateway to Acadia) and another 18 miles from Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. Precipice is the perfect basecamp for exploring Acadia.
Here are some things that make Precipice a unique glamping experience. Please message us if you have any questions or special needs.
- The View - Precipice's deck offers a fantastic view of the Lake and the woods. And you can see Cadillac Mountain across the lake from the deck.
- The Bathroom - Precipice has an ensuite bathroom with hot water and a real toilet that flushes. And the enclosed (private) outdoor shower is nestled under the tent's awning.
-The Location - We are close to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor yet far enough away to avoid the crowds, traffic, and noise. Our Glamping Camps are deep in the woods on our seven acre private property, not in a campground or "Glamping Resort." There are two other camps on the property.
-The Bed - Precipice features a king bed with a real king mattress, crisp, clean sheets, and cozy duvets. We also have a portable crib and a pack-and-play available.
-Wi-Fi - We do not have Wi-Fi (we are in the woods) but there is very good cellular data service available.
-Cooking - Precipice has a kitchenette with sink, counter, refrigerator, microwave, and Keurig coffee maker. Plus the outdoor kitchen, which is in a common area, features a gas grill, a stovetop, and a microwave. We provide pots, pans and cooking utensils and plates, cups, and eating utensils. The outdoor kitchen's refrigerator is stocked with condiments and essentials.
-Nightly Campfire -The campfire ring with comfortable Adirondack chairs is adjacent to the outdoor kitchen area. There is no need to bring or buy firewood, we have lots.
The road in to our property is a half mile camp road that takes you deep into the woods. No traffic, no noise, just seclusion, quiet, trees, and the beautiful lake.
Please note that Precipice is about 250 feet down a gravel path from the parking area (and just steps from the edge of the lake) so you cannot park right next to the tent. We have a luggage cart/wagon available if needed.
We do not allow dogs or animals of any kind. It is a safety issue. There is a risk of an interaction with wildlife in the area.
***Glamping Downeast is in Maine's great outdoors so be prepared to accept the inherent risk of your adventure including wildlife, insects, and unpredictable conditions (we can’t control weather). Come with an adventurous and open mind, and some bug spray.

About the host
Hosted by Lee & Peg Crockett

As avid sailors we have owned several sailboats, lived aboard, and cruised Mexico's Sea of Cortez with our young kids. We have backpacked through Europe and hiked and camped throughout the U.S. Peg is a landscaper and a piano teacher and Lee operated a market research company that specialized in zoos and museums. We have also owned and operated two marinas; one in Maine on the Penobscot River and one in St. Louis Missouri on the Mississippi River.
In 2015 we started Glamping St. Louis with a single glamping tent and then expanded to six unique glamping sites. We have hosted over 300 glamping couples and families from across the country at Glamping St. Louis.
We sold the St. Louis glamping business early in 2021 and bought our property in Maine. The idea was to create a family camp that we could use with our children and grandchildren and when not in use, make glamping available to others.
Since 2021 we have hosted over 150 couples and families in one of our three glamping campsites here on our property in Maine. We spend the “season”; Memorial Day through October, in Maine and November through April back in St. Louis.
