Lakeside cabin near Itasca, Heartland bike trail, ATV trails, golf courses
Welcome to Sage House! This relaxing lakeside sanctuary is the perfect getaway for family and friends!
I've always loved designing cozy spaces for friends and family to gather and building a lake cabin has always been a dream of mine. Every part of this home was created to help guests connect with nature and one another. The gorgeous lakefront windows let you experience the outdoors while enjoying the fireplace, watching movies, playing games, cooking, or listening to albums on the Victrola record player.
The bedrooms have been designed in soothing sage green, cream, and natural wood tones for a peaceful night's sleep after long days playing on the lake. Enjoy Smore's by the outdoor fire pit, relax with a glass of wine or coffee in the lounge area on the lakefront deck, play a game of horse shoes, make dinner on the grill and eat at the outdoor dining table.
This is a natural shoreline (not a beach) and there are lake weeds so if you don't like swimming in them (like me), we have floaties for getting out past the weeds. A two person kayak is available for exploring the lake as well. There is a dock to tie up your boat (water is shallow at dock- just a few feet).
Itasca State Park and the headwaters of the Mississippi is only 15 minutes away and quaint downtown Park Rapids is just a short 10 minute drive. The Heartland bike trail starts in Park Rapids and goes to Walker where if you're really ambitious you can connect to the Paul Bunyan Trail system. There are several golf courses within 15 minutes drive and for snow mobile and ATV enthusiasts, you can ride to trails right from the cabin.
Created and curated with the comfort of guests in mind- to be a sanctuary from daily life, Sage House welcomes you!

This was our 2nd time staying at this property as we just love everything about it. The location, the feeling of such a cozy & comfortable cabin. The beds are wondering, the property is clean and features all the necessities a person needs. We wanted for nothing. We will be back.
I can’t say enough good things about this property. We needed a place to stay last minute in Park Rapids and the host was nice enough to accommodate our date request. The cabin had everything you would need for your stay, and it was extremely cozy & clean. If we ever come back to the area for a longer stay, I would definitely book here again.

We had a great time. The home is quaint and spacious. Perfect for older generation. The lake view is beautiful from the house and deck. Lovely little gardens all around house. We definitely will come again.
Cabin modern/cute decor, supplied with essentials plus assortment of books, games & puzzles. Nice deck with tables & lounge seating. Easy distance from town. Not ideal for swimming, good for water sports.

It felt like our own and our host was great!! Being just north of Park Rapids on Hwy 71 it is a quick drive to local restaraunts and bars too! Will be back again for sure!!! Love it!!

Spent a nice long winter weekend getaway here. Cold weather but the house stayed cozy and warm. Had everything we needed and was convenient to Park Rapids. Just wish it was a tad warmer outside so we could have enjoyed the fire pit. But the indoor fireplace was great!

We always like to escape as so as I get out of school! This cabin is delightful and cozy! The owner has meticulously decorated every inch of the home. The only drawback was our stay was too short! Lake Itasca is a quick drive north! Thanks for sharing your cabin with us!

Thanks so much Daniel! So happy you and your family enjoyed your stay! Would love to have you stay again next time you’re visiting the area.
We loved our stay and had a good mix of hiking, sitting by the lake and fire, and lounging in the cottage.
We spent the first night in the room with the shorter queen bed but it was a bit too soft so if you like/need a firmer mattress, the taller queen bed is the way to go.
The cottage is cute and cozy, and the kitchen had everything we needed. I also enjoyed the perennial gardens - - that's a nice touch. Highly recommend!

About the host

I love designing cozy spaces to host friends and family. Creating Sage House was a pandemic project that kept me busy when I couldn't work. I wanted to curate a place for people to connect with nature, the people they love, and themselves. I started calling this project sage house in my head because I chose the exterior color early on. Green is my favorite color and seemed a perfect starting point for the mood I wanted to create. Green evokes nature, growth, renewal and creativity. The herb sage is known for its cleansing properties. The word sage is synonymous with wisdom. The past couple years have challenged us to think differently about the spaces we live, work, rest, and play in. We've discovered how our wellbeing is deeply connected to the rooms and buildings we inhabit. My goal is to created a calm sanctuary for guests to enjoy.
What makes this property unique
Sage House has beautiful lake views, lots of privacy, and is the perfect launching point for exploring Itasca State Park and the Park Rapids area. Close to quaint downtown Park Rapids, the Heartland bike trail, ATV and snowmobile trails, golf courses, and lots of restaurants- the perfect northern Minnesota getaway base.
